a sort of informal interview with Katie Cassidy
Hi guys!
I met Katie Cassidy at the Coffe Bean yesterday and talked to her. She was such a sweetheart!
I didn’t have time to make an entry because I was out to watch Twilight with some friends, but today is her birthday so it seems like even more of a treat. Happy Birthday, Katie!
She was waiting for a friend and we ended up talking about her career, Supernatural and season four Ruby. I asked her if I could post it online and she said sure, but not before trying to remember if she’d told me anything too incriminating, lol.
- She had a cute dog with her and I say that as being not a dog person at all. I have an irrational fear towards dogs lol.
- When she first met Jensen he mentioned how much she looked like his baby sister and a lot of joking was done throughout the rest of the season regarding that resemblance. The guys treated her as part of the gang and were hilarious.
- She keeps in touch with the boys as much as she can and hangs out with them when they're around, but she definitely doesn’t miss the chill of Vancouver being a sunshine Cali girl. She mocks the boys with how warm it is in LA all the time, lol.
- Katie TiVos the show and catches up in that manner. She’s thrilled that it’s doing so well, because “the boys deserve it”.
- She was bummed when she wasn’t brought on for season four because the writers had told her after the strike in season three that they’d like her to continue on as Ruby in season four with a juicier role.
- It was because of budgetary reasons, and the network being pretty stingy with the show.
- She’s sure that Cortese is a nice girl, but her Ruby is just so completely different from her own. The writers had told her that Ruby was a kick-ass, manipulative demon with attitude and out with her own evil agenda, and season four Ruby is nothing like that. Katie finds Ruby 2 to be very dry and can’t imagine how her third (?) trip down to hell suddenly changed her when she’s been an evil demon for so long.
- She hopes that Ruby has a bigger, secret role because she feels like they’ve sort of diminished the character's role this season by turning her into “Sam’s lapdog”. She’s partly blaming this on a slow reveal by the writers.
- Jared and Jensen think that season four is really complex and has too many gray areas.
- She laughed when I mentioned the Sam and Ruby sex scene and Katie said that the writers spent a lot of “extra time trying to make that okay”. She knows that the fans didn’t like it, as she’s been told by some that bump into her.
- Kripke does listen and keep up with what fans say, lol.
- Katie says that if she were Ruby still she'd be more fascinated and would want to get it on with Castiel lol. "Sam's too emo, Dean pretends to be macho and Castiel is the best combo."
I can’t recall anything else right now, but a few of Katie’s friends walked in and I had to leave for a doctor's apt. :(. She was simply awesome. I told her that I got into Supernatural during season three and thought that she’d been a brilliant addition.
And that’s all I think, lol.
Please be nice and don’t say anything mean in regards to Katie Cassidy, please. It’s wonderful that she can communicate with fans this way. And if I posted this at the wrong place then I apologize! I was pointed here by a friend. I'm not too familiar with LiveJournal.
Thanks! :)
