[mood | hopeful]

Er, hi. I hope this is okay for me to post.
I'm new here. I didn't get to participate last summer, but I'd like to this summer - if [info]summerwrite is going to be run at all this year? *meeps* I see [info]inkedover's journal is gone, too. Does anyone know what's up?

Research help needed! Monkee fans? [Oct. 11th, 2008|07:03 pm]

[music |The Monkees - Nine Times Blue]

If any of you happen to be Monkees fans, please take a moment to fill out all or part of this survey . I'm particularly looking for firsthand accounts of those who attended the Monkees 20th anniverary tour. It plays a part in my novel, and I'd like to get some good details researched before I begin.

Also, if anyone would like to see the novel in progress , please feel free to join [info]summerslast as I will be writing it there and posting friends only. This is the method that brought me success in 2006 (you can still read my complete 2006 novel by joining [info]tequila_sunset)

Anyone else do their writing publicly? Let me know and I'll join up to read your projects, too!

(Posted with permission)

Introducing

an online magazine of Science Fiction & Fantasy with a twist

Crossed Genres ([info]crossedgenres) is a new online magazine inspired by an altered version of the Genre Challenge ([info]genrechallenge).

Every month, Crossed Genres posts a new genre. Writers and artists have one month to submit stories and art that combine the chosen genre with some aspect of Science Fiction and/or Fantasy. All submissions are considered for publication (read the submission guidelines.) Crossed Genres will also contain interviews, and articles about the current genre, SF/F in general and the craft and business of writing. The Magazine is free! Please sign up to get the mailing list!

We also have a growing list of writer-related links (suggest a new one!), forums discussing all aspects of writing, and more!

So please visit the website, and sign up for the mailing list! The first genre has been posted and is accepting submissions for Issue #1, to be released December 1. Please consider making a submission!

So my total word count (since it's officially over for my coast) [Sep. 1st, 2008|12:45 am]

xguhx
Is a whopping 79,860. I did a LOT better than I thought. (That wasn't even from the same project, but all of it--I promise--was started during Summerwrite.)

Whew!

Btw, if this is inappropriate for posting (i.e. if a more official post is being planned) feel free to a) delete this, or b) remove it. I'll make a note of my word count just in case. :)

Thanks for a great 4 months, guys! :)

Last chance summerwrite dashing! summerdash if anyone wants to join me. I've got 2k left to write until I meet my personal goal for the summer and I'm not leaving until it's done. In fact, I probably won't be leaving even after it's done so I can wave pom-pom's at people who need it.

We're getting to the last few days. Anyone up for some hardcore flailing/sprinting? I'll be in summerdash for most of the afternoon. Say hello and stop on by!

I'll be working in Q10 again, so that takes up my whole screen, so if I'm alone and engrossed in my work, you'll need to say something cause I don't sprint alone (I just fail at doing it. -__- I've tried), BUT my AIM chat room blinks and makes noise when people start talking and tells me to return from my world.

Because my life is incredibly unpredictable at the moment.... Team counts for the 25-31st!

On the 31st, if team leaders could please give me the highest individual word count for the month as well as the team's overall total, that would be amazing. Awards for the past few months will be completed and handed out after everything is checked in so that the graphics makers can concentrate on writing and what not.

Finally, if you've finished your goal for the summer, leave a comment here. It doesn't matter if it was to make the 150k words, to finish your project, or whatever personal goal. Let us know so we can give you a well deserved congrats! :)

[info]autumnwrite - Just a Reminder [Aug. 25th, 2008|02:43 pm]

catw00man
Having too much fun here and want to keep it going?

Now's your chance with [info]autumnwrite!

Once again the goal is 150,000 words at the end of 4 months which works out to be 1230 words a day. Nanoers, have no fear. Your words for Nano also count here. If you're really ambitious, you could even try doing Nano's 1667 AND [info]autumnwrite's 1230. That's all up to you. ;) It doesn't matter what you work on either. A novel, multiple short pieces, multiple series, etc. Whatever you want. As long as you're writing every day, that's all we're after.

We have in the works banners for highest monthly individual word count, team count, overall highest individual and team word count, everyone who completes 150,000 and for Nano participants with more in the works.

The number of teams will be set on August 31st, but any one who stumbles onto [info]autumnwrite after the start date will be placed on a team if they want.

This was all inspired by [info]summerwrite with sister comm [info]springwrite launching this spring. Then it's time for [info]summerwrite once again. \0/

If you're interested, hurry and sign up before August 31st, but people are welcome to join at any point!

The FAQ's here.

The Sign Up post is here.

Feel free to pimp this everywhere!

So I need a big writing day today. I really want to hit 5k. I'll be in summerdash or whatever chat people want to be in, in an effort to achieve this goal. Hope to see people there. Remember to say hi. If we're dashing, I'll be sure to let you know, and if it's just me? Chances are I'm not dashing because I don't dash well solo and if I'm alone I have less chances of watching the IM window because it's well, not blinking, so I don't look again until it blinks. :/
