Due to popular demand, [info]summer_of_spike has been resurrected (pun intended) for a second go around. We all had a lot of fun last year and I'm sure we'll be just as successful this summer. Second time's the charm, right?

For those of you who've forgotten, here's a refresher on what [info]summer_of_spike is:

This is a creative two-month multi-media celebration of all things Spike.

Conceived in May, 2004, [info]summer_of_spike is a celebration of the character Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. This community is a place where people can celebrate their love of Spike in any way they choose: fic, essays, icons, videos, wallpapers, banners – if you created it and it’s about Spike, we want to see it! Oh, just look back at everything posted last year - you get the idea.

SIGN UPS FOR SUMMER 2005 HAVE NOW ENDED. LOOK FOR CONTRIBUTORS TO START POSTING ON JULY 1.


Summer of Spike Rules

1) You must post on the day you are given. No swapping, switching, or late posting (except for time zone differences). If you cannot post on the day given, please email the mods to make other arrangements so that an alternate day can be given or so that backups can be deployed. Any contributor who cannot post on their assigned day MUST give 72 hours notice if they wish to be reassigned. Anyone who does not give appropriate notice will not be re-assigned and will lose posting privileges.

2) Please do not "share" your day with anyone who is not an actual contributor to the community. Only people who have signed up to contribute to the community may post on their day. If you wish to collaborate with someone, you BOTH must sign up in the comments to this post and indicate that you would like to be assigned to the same day. To ensure that only contributors post, this community has switched over to moderated posting. Only the mods and contributors have posting access. Hopefully, this will cut back on spam.(NOTE: Contributors will be granted posting access at a later date, after sign ups have closed.)

3) Your contribution MUST be original. This community is not meant to be links to fanfic sites, awards sites, or anything else previously posted. No picspam. We’re looking for new creations made for the community to be shared with all of us.

Please remember, all original SoS contributions should be posted directly to the community and should not come in the form of links to any other site, ljs included. Your fics should be located here, your graphics should be visible in this community - we'd prefer it if people didn't have to browse away from the SoS journal to view your contribution. Please post to your journal and to other archives separately as much as you want, but do not simply post a link to your lj or any other site as your contribution. If it's not actually here IN the community, then it sort of defeats the purpose of this place, don't you think? And of course, exceptions to this rule will be made for things like vids that may need to be downloaded from a third party due to bandwidth issues.

4) This community is about loving Spike, in all of his variations. Absolutely NO bashing of ships, storylines, characters, or fans. We are about the Spike love. Write, draw, or vid Spike with the people you love to see him with, or on his own. Any era, evil to Angel. Any ship, Dru to Illyria. Members who break this rule or its spirit will be banned.

5) Clearly label your post in the SUBJECT LINE, defining what type of multi-media creation you are contributing (for example - FIC: "Buffy and Spike Have Lots of Sex" (Spike/Buffy, NC-17)) I'M NOT KIDDING ABOUT THIS ONE. Last year, it took forever to organise the memories section because posts didn't have subject lines or clearly identified pairings, etc. IF YOUR POST IS NOT PROPERLY LABELED, IT WON'T BE INCLUDED IN THE MEMORIES. Proper subject heading formatting will be included in posting day assignment emails.

6) Please use the cut-tag, especially for fics and large pictures. Also, please label any and all NC-17 material.

7) Comment, comment, comment! Everyone involved is creating something to share the Spike love. Let people know when you enjoy what they’ve posted. Chances are, if you feedback someone, they’ll feedback you in return.
