Just a note, we have over 50 available spaces still open!  (15 entire days open and the rest are days with only one sign up).

Hi Summer of Giles-ers!!  We’ve had two questions come up a couple of times with the signups, so we thought we’d clarify them both:

Posting Underage Fic
We absolutely encourage you to post all fic to the community, no matter what the content! All we ask is that you add a warning to your header to let others know what’s coming up.

Posting WIPs
We’ve slightly modified the rule about posting old fiction. In the past we asked that you only post entirely new fiction to the community. We’re changing that slightly. If you have a WIP that you’ve already posted elsewhere, and you add a significant amount of new material (new chapters, etc) to that work - or if you finish it – we now hope that you will post the entire work to the community. That gives our readers, who might not have seen earlier chapters, the chance to read your fic in its entirety all in one place.

Finally, remember if you're new to the community and signing up for a day, you need to be a member to post (this is different than just friending the comm).  If you're unsure click here and you'll either be added as a member or told you already are one!

Hi Darling Summer of Giles People!!  elizabuffy  and I are so excited to be doing another year of Summer of Giles, and we hope you are too!  Sign ups will be starting on April 15th (just about a week away)!  Sign ups will be open from April 15th - May 15th for your date choosing needs.

Just like last year, posting is going to be from June through July, and also just like last year, we hope we'll have enough sign-ups for two people each day.

We have a new layout (hey, I couldn't resist!) for summer, and also a new pimping graphic:

Genre: Drama/Angst/Action/Adventure

Characters: Buffy, Angel, Giles, Wesley, Xander, Cordelia, Oz, Willow, Tara, Anya, the Master, and others.

Summary: An ancient prophecy threatens Buffy’s friends and Angel’s soul. In another dimention the master prepares to rise again. Old enemies remade, deaths relived and old alliances forged. Angel and Buffy’s gangs join up to battle to forces of darkness, but nothing ever runs smoothly. Btvs/Ats crossover. Quite Giles and Wesley centric.

Warnings: Violence, angst, death and drama. Spoilers for up to S4 Buffy and S2 Angel.

Rating: NC - 17

Notes/Time period: The story is based after the end of S4 of Btvs, maybe just into S5 but no Dawn yet and sometime in the middle of S2 of Angel, before Wesley gets shot. It’s a complete AU from there onwards. It needs to be noted that the alternate world they cross into is the wish universe.

Disclaimer: I own nothing of Joss's or the Buffy universe. Though I do wish I had Giles and Wesley! Mmmm! I am not benefiting from this fic. So dont sue mee!!

This Fanfic is quite long. 12 Chps! I spent much of my summer writing it. Please please tell me what you think. I posted on ff.net and I've had no feedback. So please let me know!

It's our pleasure to have some good news.  For all of you Giles!lovers who also love Dawn, there is a truly interesting comm you should check out:

They allow the fan to take canon, tweak it just the flap of a butterfly's wing, and then explore the effects of that change rippling outward. They also embody all the challenge of fanfic. It's difficult enough to keep characters IC within a canon situation; it's all the more impressive to maintain recognizable characterization and universe while diverging from canon."

In this case, the tweak is Buffy the Vampire Slayer's kid sister, Dawn.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to claim one episode from the first four seasons of BtVS, and insert Dawn. You can rewrite the entire episode, or just a key scene (no pun intended!) You can write from Dawn's POV or another character's. Explore the ways Dawn's presence changes events.

It's just come to our attention that one of our posters from last summer had plagarized their story from another fandom.  Thier entry has been removed and they have been removed from the comm.

Just so we're perfectly clear, plagiarism in any form is not acceptable at Summer of Giles.

Both elizabuffy and I are really sorry this post had to be written.  Hopefully it'll never have to be written again.

Elizabuffy and I want to say Thank You! Thank you for keeping this community not only alive, but thriving, for another year! We've both been absolutely amazed by your enthusiasm, your dedication, and your talent. It just proves, once again, that the people who love this show, and love our Watcher, are some very fine people indeed.

You all should be fantastically proud of everything you did to make this community work – and seriously it was you guys, you writers and graphic artists, css coders, music choosers, and feedbackers – who made all the love go round. This year we had over 200 posts! And for two whole months we got to have Giles on our flist for sure every single day. We had so many pairings we had to create new tags and the ones that were here from last year are well worn out! Best of all there was an absolute ton of Giles!love. And that's all because of you guys.

So THANK YOU. Thank you for writing. Thank you for graphic-ing. Thank you for commenting and telling people you loved their work. Thank you for being fantastic to each other this summer. It just proves that our fandom ROCKS beyond belief.

And, as a little updated thank you, please check behind the cut. EB and I have created some awards for you all this year – if we could we'd make one for every single one of you individually. But, as there are so frigging many of you (something that delights us and makes us get out of our seats and dance every time we realize how much Giles!love there is out there) these little mementos will have to do… these are for everyone who wrote, everyone who posted graphics, and everyone who gave feedback at our little comm. If you did one thing here at Summer of Giles, we want you to have one of these!

I'm not sure if I'm early or late due to timezone differences, but what the hey.  Here's my Giles thing! I hadn't intended a theme, it just sort of turned out that way.  Which is my favourite kind of happy accident.
