    So it begins part 2
    So, I'm watching the debates...

Watching them walk in.. McCain just looks stiff.
And not just a I can't move thing.
    But, an old person shuffle.
I'm not trying to make fun of the man.
It just don't seem like he's "on" all the time.

Watching him be up there, he goes "on"
but walking up there... I don't know.
    I hope I'm wrong.

I know this "Town Hall" thing is going to be irritating.
    But... I'll watch it.

I've got my PB&J. Off we go...

    You Are a Cat

You are very independent and reclusive. No one really understands you, and you like it that way!

You are quite clever and ingenious. You can get yourself out of any sticky situation.

You are confident and cool tempered. You know you have many advantages and resources to draw from.

No matter what life throws at you, things always seem to work out your way.

Cage has flown the coop' and other news
sryan has just deleted his ID in the last 7 days and I happen to know he has a roadtrip the likes of which would make any college mind drool!

HE quit work due to -IIRC boredom. I read this one night late as I was shutting down and thought I'd be able to make a reply in the AM but, alas... PRinter issues turned that idea into a forgotten whisper. Now that I have bandaided the bandaided Printer issue... He's gone and Ixnay'd the entire ID... I'm glad that his parents are still around in denton and I can knock on their door and find out the skinny.....

    Mel's coming into town shortly....
Tut's opening soon (we got tickets for a tuesday viewing)
My Dad and step-Mom are coming for Tut and a visit soonly too.

Old Skool Brucelings of the 96-99 years might recall a certain pair of slightly older Bruceling "Pagan Witch's" ?
Do the names Susan and MAry ring a bell?

I ran into Mary at the Lebonese(sp) food festival this weekend. LOL then just before I saw one of the quite older"Gramma types who has/d an office in the back of housing too.

It seems that MAry is being cajole'd(sp) into getting an LJ id for help with her Disertation. (smirks) and Susan has had one for a while.... but, do to her still painful personal issue is rather hermit like for a while yet.... so mary told me to not wander over to her ID just yet... give her some more time. Thus I'm not gonna go say hi just yet *or try to friend her just yet either out of the same respect.

Now, having said that.. I gotta get ready for work in Plano tonight.

A typical week for me looks like this - i guess

Monday is billing day so I make sure mine is done and turned in and well the last few mondays I've been elbow deep in keyboards and software manipulation (exasperating to say the least)
then early afternoon I got to get ready for two evening clients
late dinner then distractions that keep me spinning till 11 or so

Tuesdays have been similar computer fun/ or multi-tasking with doing laundry/ tinker with the RV/ IR Sauna rebuild and install/ pay bills online

wednesday's get up and around for all day with clients... starting with a drop off of paperwork at HQ; then continue on driving to Duncanville, back up to irving, then into southern Lewisville, return home for a hr break before the 6PM client then back out for the last client of the night ** LAst week and this week however its shifted to friday so I can goto meditation at the UU in Carrollton

Thursday up early again and out for early aqua session then massage session... then return for stuff todo around the house for a few hours(last week was spend more time on the IR Sauna from CL and deal with the toilets water issue)
spend errr, waste more time on HP Chat about the printer again(this was like the 3rd day this week)

Friday this is the semi-repeat of wednesday
run to duncanville, then to grand prairie, then to IRving, then to South LEwisville and then over to get the yummy raw goats milk then home.... just intime for the evening client then back out for the late flowermound client from wednesday :>) then stop by a few places and research/price new dishwasher and potentially new washing machine in the near future.

saturday... get up and get distracted by family life or go for breakfast??? then off to take care of two aqua clients and return for a littleresearch on our future new printer...
then off to the food festival till late at night

oh man... I gotta get ready to go... gotta get food in backpack and goto plano in 20 minutes....

A comment on playing dirty pool..
Here's an article from the Washington Post about the nasty mood Sarah Palin is fostering at her rallies:  www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/06/AR2008100602935.html

I don't think it's just that they're desperate.  I think it's a deliberate strategy.   Not necessarily to win THIS election.   But if I'm right about their long-term goals, it fits.   I don't think Sarah Palin is campaigning for 2008 any more.  I think she's campaigning for 2012.

In order to get Americans to accept a fascist dictatorship, they would have to achieve these goals:
    • Undermine faith in the existing government.
    • Undermine faith in, knowledge of, and attachment to our longstanding democratic institutions
    • Foster chaos
    • Foster divisions between Americans and hostility of the factions towards one another.
    • Foster divisions between Americans and the rest of the world, both hostility towards Americans and American xenophobia, isolationism and exceptionalism.
    • Create more and more tolerance of their approaches; normalize disinformation and authoritarianism, while slowly moving power towards the executive branch.
    • Undermine trust generally, between citizens and their government, between citizens and each other, and every level in between. Sow fear, uncertainty, and doubt.
If you look at the governmental policies and political strategies of Rove and the rest of them, you can see how everything they do works towards those goals.  Absolutely everything, even the things they are doing that appear to be shooting themselves in the foot.   For example, getting nasty at this stage of the game won't win them the election, but it will make it harder for a President Obama to govern.  It might even provoke violence....we know for a fact that all the "kill the liberals" rhetoric that people like Sean Hannity spout does have that effect on people.   And when people get desperate, they get violent.   And as the economy tanks, more people are about to get desperate.

One thing:   DO NOT buy into the "culture war," divided America, red state/blue state bullshit.   That is doing their work for them, that's how they want you to think.   Barack Obama understands that, which is why he rejects those ideas.

Instead, get out there and talk to people you don't normally talk to.   Put a human face on them.  Put a human face on yourself.  There are lots of things that you and I can't do much about, but this is an essential part of the strategy that we can do something about.

The other big thing we can do is participate in our democracy.   Get out there and vote, get out there and volunteer, talk to your legislators on the local, state and national level, get involved.   A populace devoted to democracy is our best defense against any and all of that.

    (Proto)Grove Names
So... on my quest to become clergy, I'm going to start an ADF Protogrove the beginning of next year. I want to wait until after the move. I'm thinking March/April time...

So, I'm trying to get some of the work done before hand.
Like thinking of names, getting together materials, and continuing to study study study.

So, this post is about names...

I've been throwing ideas around with ncalrod, and I want to see what you all think.

Originally, I wanted to do something with Osprey (my icon is an Osprey)
I was thinking Osprey Call or something like that, but have you heard an Osprey? They may be magestic birds, but they sound like overgrown Sparrows. PEEEP! It's so funny seeing them, all raptor like, and then getting closer, and hearing the "Stay away!" peep.
I think it must have something to do with the pitch. Seagulls have a similar pitch. That high of a call must travel over water well.

    But I digress...

I'm still hanging on to Osprey something
But, here are some other ideas...

Snapdragon Protogrove, ADF - I like snapdragons. Always bring happy memories from childhood for me. I always called them bunny rabbits. If you pinch them on the sides, they open up, and show two little "teeth". :-)

Willow Branch Protogrove, ADF - I love Willow trees, always have.

Willow Brook Protogrove, ADF - Does that sounds too housing development?

Great Falls Protogrove, ADF - that's kind of a place name, as Northern Virginia has the Great Falls. But, at the same time, it's a NoVa name... ??

Dogwood Protogrove, ADF - yawn. It's very Virginia, and I love the trees, but I'm not leaning towards this.

Arbor of Trees, Protogrove, ADF - Someone said something about the City of Fairfax and Arbor of Trees, and I can't for the life of me remember now. it sounds pretty though.

So... 6, maybe 7 different ideas. I'm also looking at a "logo" to go along with it. Something that signifies "My Grove, ADF".

Once the name has been chosen (I want two I can work with, so if one it "taken" in the time I go to apply, the other is there), I'm going to work on logo, website, "promotion", and ADF materials. I know this isn't a fast growing thing (Fast as a speading oak), but I figure, as much as I can before hand, the better.

So, friends list, what do you think?
Do you have other ideas, my Northern Virginia friends?

I've also realize, I should get an ADF icon.

Banner headline on CNN.com right now:

"Bush pledges 'we're going to come' this economic crisis."

Huh? His plan is to make the economic crisis come?

ETA: They fixed the headline to read "overcome". Still, I had a larf there for a few minutes.

If you tickle us do we not laugh?
I just saw Sarah Silverman's 4 min. video, "The Great Schlep," posted on the local burn list.. definitely check it out! It's not 100% work safe (includes naughty words). But it seemed time for some comedy relief.

And ironically enough, I can hear an echo of her sentiments in the words of Saul Williams, who ended his free "Niggy Tardust" show @ UT last week with the words, "Now, go home & convert your parents!"

    Core American Principles
From a post by one of my more militant friends, [info]deviantsaint... I read a rather balanced view of the current situation:
The Political Nature of the Economic Crisis September 30, 2008 | 2115 GMT
A Geopolitical Intelligence Report By George Friedman

    --

And then from the far left, aiming towards center...

In the third segment of this video interview, Naomi Wolf implores us to return to our "Core American Principles:"

    1. We are obliged to speak freely.
    2. We have to rebel continually against injustice oppression.
    3. Ordinary people are supposed to be the leaders & agents of change.
    4. We cherish the rule of law.
    5. There is no established National Deity... this is a country of
    religious freedom.
    6. We deliberate with our neighbors... not engage in bipartisan
    debates whipped up by demogogues.
    7. We cannot maintain an oppressive empire... liberty is Universal...
we have to be a republic that supports liberty abroad, rather than
    subverting democracy.

    --

then, i was poking through [info]jagwirex's post:
    Fascism: what is it? (2003)

and in a related post of his, i found this quote from Bruce Sterling's SXSW keynote address from 2006:
"Make no decision out of fear."
