About
Welcome to the Sugar-Free Foundation.

This community is based around a simple concept: people are afraid to speak their minds in Live Journal. This is fine for some, but many of us use LJ as a way to publish out art and comics, and the feedback we get is almost all positive. Don't get us wrong, we all love to hear nice things about our work. But how can we expect to grow if we only ever have our ego stoked?

We want to take the good with the bad. Sure, our egos may get a bruise from time to time, but in the end we'll get the advice and critiques we need to grow as artists. Perhaps you have noticed, however that most people don't seem to take criticism well, even if given in a friendly way. As a result we all tend to tiptoe when commenting on another person's painting, or comic, or what have you. They would probably be cool with anything we say, but who knows?

Well, we're fed up that. Thus, the Sugar-Free Foundation. All members of this community declare themselves to be open-minded and thick-skinned enough to hear the truth of what other members have to say about their work.

Some things to keep in mind:

When you are in this community feel free to speak you mind. That's the whole point. As long as your comments are fair and reasonable don't worry about hurting feelings or making enemies. After all, if someone posts something here, they are aware of our philosophy.

On that note, be aware that by posting anything in this community you affirm that you are of an open mind and ready for any feedback other members may have. Some people, even with the best of intentions, will not have nice things to say.

People like to spend time with the people they know. Thus, other members will be more likely to leave comments on your work if you leave comments on theirs. This is a community, after all.

And finally, all criticism is meant to be constructive and helpful. Overly nasty attitudes and a lack respect for the community and its members will not be tolerated.
