Well, in any case, I thought I'd spread the word a bit about an online Sudoku I really like. Has anyone tried it over at cafe.com? It's pretty unique... they let you do multiplayer with up to 6 players, and they've got this nifty (yes i said nifty) little power-up system. 9:45 pm [flyinglemurs]	Anyone still out there? Hey, Anyone still out there on this list? Looks like there hasn't been a post in nearly a year. I just found a great little sudoku book and am working my way through it. Mastering Sudoku Week by Week. Its broken up into a bit on instruction on a particularly solving technique, then a puzzle or two that you need it for, then more instruction, etc. Up through the XWing and Swordfish and stuff like that. http://www.amazon.com/review/product/1844834050?showViewpoints=1 Also..I realllly like the unusual sudoko..like the killer/sum suduko, the one with oddly shaped boxes, the X kind with a diagonal x in the middle. Anything. I've got another cool book Color Sudoko that has about every variation and is all in color. Well I guess they don't have the samurai sudoko but they have a ton of varieties in it. 4:15 pm [vysion_of_books]	The state of the craze? Any thoughts about where you see the hobby of solving sudoku? It seemed to me to explode about a year ago with magazines and books taking up shelves of the big bookstores. It has since waned for me personally as I can only solve so many before filling one in feels mechanical. Has it the staying power of the other pencil puzzle favorites, the crossword or word search? 11:28 am [vac_slut]	It doesn't seem as though anyone knows of the Su Doku handheld game sold at Wal-Mart? My mom got it for me for Christmas and I haven't put it down since. It's much easier than getting it in a newspaper or book. It has Beg. and Adv. Levels, 4 on each. On the Beg. levels, the numbers blink if you place them in the wrong spot, but on the Adv. they don't. 12:50 pm [muse0fire]	Is it me? It's rare that I can't finish a Sudoku puzzle, even the five star puzzles in the uClick daily sudoku puzzles. But this one has me stymied. I've only managed to fill in two of the blanks - a 1 and a 4 in the center column. I've notated all of the rest of the cells with their possible numbers, and I'm searching desperatly for a pattern to narrow down any of the others, and I'm at a complete loss. Anyone? 8:07 pm [nlduchno1]	Sudoku Java Applications I thought you guys might be interested in this: I wrote two java applets which are up at http://www.nicholasduchnowski.com/sudokuhelper and http://www.nicholasduchnowski.com/sudokusolver . Sudoku Helper is an applet that automatically does the penciling and crossing out of numbers for you. You can click on a cell and enter type a number on the keyboard, and it will cross out everything that needs to be crossed out. Sudoku Helper is in a similar format, but this has some built in logic to solve the puzzles. The logic isn't as strong as it is at http://www.sudokusolver.co.uk/ , but I like the Java format better than their JavaScript interface, and it solves most puzzles. I would like to make the helper application load puzzles rather than make the user type them in, which brings me to a question: can sudoku puzzles be copyrighted? Can I take puzzles from other sites and put them into my database? The applets were written using a Java wrapper called Processing. The source code is on the pages. One of my hobbies is Geocaching and I need to solve a Sudoku puzzle to complete a Geocaching puzzle. Can some one help me?? Thanks! I specifically need the A-F numbers.
