Raw food cured my type 1 diabetes!

  • Jul. 14th, 2009 at 10:07 AM
[info]therachel wants notorious cesspit [info]booju_newju to know that Type one diabetes can be cured with a raw food diet.

She knows because she read it in a testimonial, and in a book. Well, I'm sold.

That sound you hear off in the distance is a thousand high school biology teachers weeping.

[info]hunterkirk is the resident ditto head spambot on [info]talk_politics. If there is something nasty to say about a Democrat, he will say it. If there is an insane conspiracy theory about liberals destroying America, he will buy into it. If there is someone spinning a supposition that Barack Obama is the 4th Horseman of the Apocalypse, he is all ears. Take the political bias of Rush Limbaugh, merge it with the shear insanity of Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann and add the grammar and spelling of a 5 year old with a traumatic brain injury and you have [info]hunterkirk.

So yesterday he poses a question to the forum which is one part Birth Certificate Conspiracy Theory, two parts misunderstanding of the Constitution and about 11 parts crazy juice.

Premise: He still doesn't think Obama was born in the United States. Has link to government wiki article saying that if someone is born overseas then BOTH parents must be citizens to be an automatic citizen and wants everyone to discuss if this means Obama is not qualified for the Presidency.

He then replies to EVERY thread with the same copy and paste reply.

Hilarity ensues.

Bob Barker would not approve of this.

Because I have low blood pressure, sometimes I need to read places like [info]stupidpetowners in order to keep my levels up. Those of you who read it regularly know that it's typically filled with a good dose of rageahol in order to reduce your faith in humanity along with getting your blood pressure up.

Now, enter [info]jameth, with lulz for all.

This post got me thinking that for once there's an almost charming SPO to behold, with misinformation on spaying/neutering and wanting their doggies to get it on. Now, everyone's going to be cool and get a good laugh out of this because it's [info]jameth, right? Ohhhh no.

Aside from some of the members in SPO just not getting it, or at least not right away, there's also [info]ana_magus, who is VERY UPSET and wants you to know it. It's gets really good starting around here. It gets so bad, that she actually posted [info]jameth's full contact information for great animal justice. Not that that's a major violation of LJ's TOS or anything...

So it all begins with a white woman crying about the lack of sisterhood because some black women aren't fawning over her for dating a black man. This starts off a thread by [info]talking_apple, which will come back up later.

[info]witchsistah is a bit upset about the generalizations, to say the least. She brings her rage.

Another post continues the sisterhood!

[info]neo_prodigy brings some win to the comm and explains what's going on, and [info]talking_apple hangs on to her privilege with a death grip.

[info]talking_apple is now unsure of what the community is for and polls the members.

After that, an entire post about [info]talking_apple and her recent blatherings.

Well, after that, [info]talking_apple is having none of it and flounces from the entire community and in fact starts trolling in order to get banned because she has no self-control she has no self-control.

The flounce is just what makes it, I think.

eta: and a few hours later we have flounce deletion. She was so proud of herself I didn't foresee a deletion, so I didn't get caps. Anyone?

Over in [info]conservatism, [info]madoverlord and I are having a conversation about zoning out, among other things, smokers and tittie bars; that is, the practice of establishing an X-foot radius around certain structures in which said activity can't take place, and then making X large enough so that it's not physically possible to participate in the activity.

He argues, perhaps reasonably, that the smoking ban in Boston is of this sort--nowhere in the city is more than 25 feet from a window or door, and he's convinced that the number 25 was specifically calculated to achieve this effect.

And then he takes a weird veer into Tinfoilhattia:
It's kinda like the people who are trying to get talking on a cell illegal in a car... on the face, it sounds great for road safety, but you KNOW it was also calculated that most calls into talk-radio shows happen on the road, so their in an alterior motive as well.

Very short stupid, no drama

  • Jul. 4th, 2009 at 5:58 PM
Sorry, this is irrelevant to this comm and I didn't get the reference.

My super double fail, especially since I had to read all the comments before I got it.  Sigh.

Very short stupid, no drama, but it gave me a chuckle.

Roger Ebert discusses
"free range kids" and the fears that keep parents from letting their kids roam free today as they did when he was young. He's pretty balanced about it; he admits that some of the evil parents fear today seems more prevalent than when he was a kid, at least according to the media, but it's still sad to think that fewer kids much have free time outdoors.

This sparks a moderately interesting and wide-ranging discussion about other people's free-range childhoods or lack thereof, and theorizing about the results.

But then there's a commenter who goes by the name of Peter Wendt:

"I saw a movie recently (can't remember the name, some documentary I think) about a young cub scout who is left to wander unsupervised and ends up shanghaied on a floating house to South America! It all ended okay, thank goodness, but it really makes you think."

The comment is so stupid, no one even responds to it.

Over in [info]bad_service, [info]lorelei633 says, "Oh noez! I didn't clean my apartment on move-out like they asked and now they sent me a bill!"

After the general public tells her that it's pretty standard operating procedure, the self-entitlement escalates.

...That's all.

Finding stupid in [info]ohnotheydidnt is like shooting fish in a barrel, but it was either this or start wank myself.

[info]cavicouture makes a post about former Hills characters/stars Heidi Montag Pratt and Spencer Pratt (aka "Speidi"), and their apparent new association with conspiracy theorists New World Order.

These views include 9/11 being an "inside job", global warming being "mind boggling", and birth control sickens and devalues women, causes depression, cancer and sterility and suicidal tendencies.

There's lots of blah blah - "Die Speidi", and then in a thread that's all "Yay, birth control", [info]planet_janet mentions her friend who refuses to take regular birth control, but has taken Plan B "like 4 times in the past year".

[info]stah_chica totally knows a girl like this, who is afraid of hormones, but "Plan B is what, like taking Tylenol?"

[info]l_dolla tells us that Plan B is like taking a week's worth of birth control pills, and [info]planet_janet agrees "It is definitely WAY worse to take plan B than it is to take the pill.. especially four times within the span of a year. Apparently you shouldn't take it more than twice in a year. I'm scared to ever take plan B because of the side effects"

More Plan B stupid here

If you'll follow me this way, [info]americandream17heard that fluoride can cause health problems and hasn't been approved by the FDA, and [info]softlycreeping knows that fluoride is a toxin, and can cause thyroid problems and bone cancer.

[info]suckmyrock posts a picture from 9/11, which leads to actual 9/11 conspiracy theories from [info]nomoneyfun here.

Unclear if [info]alex_fraser1 is a troll, since he's comparing Speidi to Einstein. Do check out the tin foil stuff going on here.

Trust me, there's more.
Over in [info]college_help, [info]mar212 wants to know her chances of getting into NYU, Carnegie-Mellon, and other wanky schools. Her stats?

-Average GPA
-Apparently clinically depressed
-But dammit, she's LATINA OMFGZ0RZ

[info]pseudofire isn't having any of it, and she tries to keep it real. Her stats?

-Average GPA
-Apparently clinically depressed
-But dammit, she's LATINA OMFGZ0RZ
-single baby mama

Will someone please admit them to S.T.F.University?

Wankfest here: http://community.livejournal.com/college_help/2937213.html

Note: My heart goes out to these girls. No, really, it does. I'm also a Latino, first generation college graduate, and also happen to work as a college admissions counselor full time. Nothing makes me lose faith in humanity more than watching bratty teenagers play the race card.

Edit: She double posted too

Shout out goes to the gorgeous [info]ladykathryn for catching it.
[info]ohnotheydidnt has a first-page shitshorm all because of a tacky stuffed animal.

In a post about paying respect to Michael Jackson through cards and flowers and toys, someone wonders what will happen with all of the stuff. [info]washie knows everything will be in the trash and thinks it's terrible to waste money on the dead. It could go to the starving children she cares so much about.

But it's OK to waste money on herself because she's still alive. She benefits.

Later she is told all the time she's spent sitting on her ass whining about a purple gorilla could be spent volunteering, but everyone's missing the point!! Here we see a list of her complaints, and, of course, the tacky ape gifts are number one.

As a bonus, [info]nene13 joins and says: Don't fall for it. There are some silly people who don't have any rational thought. Look at xunitydivides. He/she is defending to the teeth about these people buying a $500 purple gorilla. It's dumb. "Well, people grieve by buying gorillas. If it helps them sleep at night." Yeah? So, if i went on a murdering rampage of cyclists so I could rest easier, you'd let me babysit your kids? Oh, and ok, you give that gorilla to the kids, what the hell are they going to do with that monstrosity anyway? The person who bought it probably spent more money renting a U-Haul to drop that thing off.

I don't even know. Just remember that she's the rational one here.

I Just Couldn't Help It

It's a bit old, but Saint Shatter Slut wants us to know all about feminism and her oh-so-kinky lifestyle choices. But it's not a choice, oh heavens no, it's the ~natural order.~ *Sparkle sparkle*

Here's a choice quote from the asshabadashery:

"I believe in Male Supremacy, that men are better than women and women are inferior, and that men should keep their women in line (otherwise we end up with feminists who refuse to have children and basically want to be men -_-)."

Commenters seem to think she's a troll, but given that she still exists? You tell me. Still, dumber than a box of cocks.

And we've got a hint of meta in the comments.

First time posting! (Please be gentle)

This hurt my brain just enough that I thought it warrented a moment in the s_f spotlight.

Over in [info]wtf_inc (I know, I know, but hear me out!), [info]jesuissophie makes a post about Riam Dean, the Abercrombie & Fitch employee who was sent to the stockroom because her prosthetic arm violated the store's "Look Policy," [and] is suing for £20,000.

Seems straight forward enough, right? The real fun begins when [info]mightymaus rides in with all her anti-positive-discrimination-tiny-texted glory and states that she [doesn't] get it. People are discriminated against everywhere. Work somewhere else. Somewhere that will appreciate you. And that [m]ost places discriminate against tattoos and piercings, sure people chose to have them but so what? It's still discrimination. ('Cause having a prosthetic arm is totally the same as tattoos and piercings you chose to put on yourself, amiright?)

[info]porcelaingrl and [info]somewhereness make valiant efforts to bring some sort of reason to the debate, but [info]mightymaus just isn't getting how what she said makes absolutely no sense. Clearly, we have all missed [her] point entirely.

This has absolutely been entertaining me all morning. Almost as good as pancakes for breakfast. Almost. Everything was still unlocked as I'm posting this, so hopefully it'll remain that way. (It is [info]wtf_inc. I can't imagine that changing.)

Anyways, hope this serves to entertain, and that my first offering is up to your standards!
So I made this post in [info]anti_feminism about a stupid Bacardi ad campaign, hoping to maybe stir up a tiny bit of wank on an otherwise boring day.

Out of the blue comes new member [info]pistolpoet rambling on about how all feminists are emotional or something. His rambling pseudo-intellectual babble with its undercurrent of deep rage seems somehow familiar, but I'm often wrong about these things, so I say nothing and just assume they're new or a troll.

[info]hexennacht, braver than I, engages [info]pistolpoet and susses out that it is indeed [info]lovecrafty come back to play.

So begins the bubbling rage, epic bitterness over a woman who wouldn't fuck him however many years ago, bizarre fable retellings, and tl;dr stream-of-consciousness rants of jealousy.

Why does he come back to antifem to be abused and hated once again after these fine years without him, you ask? Because we NEED him! We can't survive WITHOUT him!

There's also small, but delicious wank on the call-out post, in which lolcrafty is, once again, b&.

He went over to have a shitfit in [info]bertro's journal, and was promptly banned from there, as well.

It was a glorious day in [info]anti_feminism.
"My oldest was cute for a new born (I think) and he is still really handsome.. however, my second child.. was.. omg. hideous. HIDEOUS and I am positive that his uglyness was a contributing factor in my lack of bonding with him, and then the resulting PPD/borderline psychosis."

Like....really?

Wow, lady.

A few days ago in [info]wow_ladies, [info]frostfur made her very first post, sharing a slightly tl;dr story of a 15 year old player incessantly flirting with her. (Abridged version: [info]frostfur initially assumes the other player is also female and asks if she's bisexual, to which the other player answers yes. Later it comes out that the other player is actually a male.)

Most of the commenters find the story amusing, a handful wonder why [info]frostfur brought up the sexual orientation question in the first place, and [info]batty_kitto makes a long meandering comment about...I don't really know what.

Today, [info]frostfur made her very last post to [info]wow_ladies, having apparently been turned off to the community forever by the few comments that had fairly politely engaged her about the bisexual question.

Flounce Text for linkophobes )

Remarkably, most people continue to be polite in the face of this major overreaction, while the ones who get even the slightest bit snarky get scolded by the mod.

Okay, so I'm a stupidfree woman who likes stupid, but I don't appreciate it when people say to me, "Oh, you'll change your mind," when my stance on not having stupid comes up in conversations. I also have a big beef with the people who allow their stupid to run wild in restaurants and other public places. That's the reason why I joined the [info]stupid_free forum. However, I must say that in the past few weeks it's become less of a "let me tell you about the asshole stupid I just encountered" to entries like http://community.livejournal.com/stupid_free/1153236.html.

I'm outta there.
