Description:a place for asian music-related muses (with a focus on pop) to meet and interact
About
What is this place, anyway?

[info]stringfree is a point of connection for Asian pop-music muses to meet and interact with each other, outside of the usual limitations of a community game.

* Communities have advantages and disadvantages--perhaps you've never found a home that 'fits' you. Perhaps you've found one, but none of your friends or bandmates have appeared, and you're getting lonely. Perhaps you have no interest in living community-style, and you've always interacted with a small group of muses you already know, but you really feel the lack of a certain presence in your life. You might be able to find them, at [info]stringfree.
* [info]stringfree is not designed to displace or replace a home community, in your life. This is not a game; there are no claims or drops, here.
* [info]stringfree is also not designed to conflict with [info]riot_box--you are more than welcome to be an active member of both, if you are equally comfortable in either, but there are certainly some muses who are not comfortable expressing themselves in an atmosphere that is predominantly opposite of their genre (pop, VK, etc) . In the interest of keeping all avenues open and providing for as many muses as possible, this community aims to connect muses with those who live and work in similar circles.

Who is welcome here?

Muses, first and foremost. Non-AU only, please--it becomes far too confusing for everyone involved if a third of you are sprouting wings, tails, and/or homicidal tendencies.

* [info]stringfree was created explicitly for muses to find and get to know each other, not for soapbox mun-rants, complaints against a particular mun/muse/game, or community advertising.
* Muses should be connected to the Asian music industry in some way: Korean, Chinese, Thai, Japanese. There's an emphasis on pop, as mentioned above, but no one with an honest desire to connect will be turned away.
* Muns may watch the community (we're not going to go down the list and boot any journal that doesn't look like it belongs to a muse, believe me). Muns may also post in the community and respond via comments, but we ask that if a mun is speaking, they clearly label their post or comment with something to make that apparent. This is not a mun or mouthpiece playground, and while situations do arise where a mun may need to speak up, the community is for the benefit of the muses themselves, and the welfare of said muses comes first.

How does this affect me in my life/home/game?

Everything here is on an uber level. This means it is outside or beyond the events going on in your game, and it should not affect your relationships with other muses in your own game.

* You may meet variants of muses you know at 'home'. You may despise them, or you may become quite close. Regardless, you may not take what you and another muse discuss in [info]stringfree back to your home ground and attempt to push it onto somebody else, or vice versa. I'm sure most of you understand this already, but please remember to keep uber contact and IC contact distinct. What you do with other muses you've met in [info]stringfree, in one-on-one contact on your own journals or in scenes, is strictly your business and your responsibility.

Hey, there's already a variant of 'me' here--what do I do?

You are welcome to join, no matter whether you are the only "version" of a particular real, or one of fifteen. You are the only you there is, and someone may be missing a you-shaped piece in their life.

* Please be respectful of variants, both of yourself and other muses you know. If someone rubs you the wrong way, even if you feel that they are nothing but a puppet, silence is a far more effective tool than insults or argument, so please... keep it in your pants. You are welcome to joke around and express yourself freely, but personal freedom does not extend to cruelty, and if someone feels attacked, a moderator may step in.

I want to join, but I don't want ___ to know I am here...

'Dummy' journals are perfectly acceptable, and IP logging will not be turned on. Whatever contact information you provide is your own choice. Some of you may be coming from GJ or other sites, in which case you will need a 'dummy' or uber journal to post, anyway.

* Please be respectful of other muses' privacy. If you recognize them from previous contact, but they clearly do not wish their current home-ground or identity to be revealed, do not spread that information around. Whatever their situation is, it is on their shoulders and not yours.
* Harassment is not allowed. Again, this is not a venting community--problems between muses or between muns need to be left outside the door, and if you or your mun cannot be civil with another member of the community, the simplest solution is to not speak to them.

I'm joining! What should I do next?

Introduce yourself! You may prefer to lurk quietly in the shadows and get a feel for the others, first, but a community is only as active as its members make it, and (especially if you are looking for a particular presence) the best way to meet others is to tell them a little about yourself.
[info]stringfree will keep a master-list of those muses who have introduced themselves with the appropriate information, so that muses who come later have the chance to look back and see who is already here. In order to be added to this list, you must provide the following information:

Name: Who are you? Please provide a given or stage-name that most people will recognize you by--if you have a nickname or something you prefer to be called to cut down on confusion, especially if there are many variants here already, please feel free to share that as well.
Affiliation: Self-explanatory... tell us what group or project you are a part of, or if you're a solo artist. This is just to help people find you later, on the list.
Looking for: Are you here to find a missing piece? Are you just here to chat? Give us some idea what drew you to join [info]stringfree, and help us determine what aspects of the community interest you the most.
Avoiding: If there's something you're absolutely not interested in--say, being approached to join a game, or being asked to 'meet' another muse one-on-one--this is the place to let people know. Is there a particular muse that you know you are absolutely incapable of being rational about or civil to? Say so--it might keep one from approaching you and starting a squabble they didn't expect.
Contact: How should a muse reach you, if they wish to get in touch? Do you have AIM? MSN? An email of your own? Perhaps you typically use a different site or form of interaction, entirely. Is the journal you are using now free for other muses to friend or comment to? If you are in a game where non-community muses are prohibited from commenting or dropping in on your own journal, and you haven't chosen to create a dummy or uber journal, you may need to give people a heads-up here. Please do not advertise your community in this post--this is for other muses to get to know you, not where you live. If, after speaking to someone, they wish to know where you call home, that is between you and them.
By joining and posting in [info]stringfree, I declare that I have read the community rules and will abide by them: Y/N?
Comments: Anything else you'd like to add? Want to tell us a little more about yourself? Feel free! Your introduction can be as long or as short as you want it to be--the above information is simply what we need to see in order to add you to the member list.
Please tag your post with 'intro' in order to make it easier for us to add you to the member list.

After you have introduced yourself (or chosen not to, if you do not wish to be on the member list), feel free to post anything you like to the community. Start discussions. Ask about your fellow members. Get to know variants of yourself. Talk about your life, your dreams, or your problems, if you're comfortable with sharing those things in a public forum. Ask for advice. Anything you might post in your own journal or home community may be fair game, here--just use your discretion. [info]stringfree is not intended to be a platform for wank about other communities, moderators, or muses--if you must discuss a problematic situation, please leave overtly identifying information out of it. If a moderator asks you to remove or edit your post because we see a problem is starting, please cooperate.

The rules:

1. Member harassment is not tolerated.
2. Do not post community ads--they will be deleted without warning.
3. Keep uber business uber--[info]stringfree is not here to give the mods or muses of your home ground headaches.
4. If you feel the need to post non-worksafe content, layout-breaking images (anything over 400 pixels wide, to be safe), or streaming content (this can cause some browsers to crash), put it behind a clearly labelled LJ-cut. If you do not understand how to make an LJ-cut, ask someone, but please don't post until you understand it.
5. Any posts or comments made by muns should be clearly labelled as such.
