The world this story takes place in is called Atmos. A part of Atmos's culture is the use of special crystals to power weapons and defenses. The most powerful crystal found was the Aurora Stone which now acts as protection for Atmos and provides light for its inhabitants. Atmos is defended by groups of noble warriors known as Sky Knights, who pilot motorcycle-like vehicles that can semi-transform into flying machines. Many years ago the world of Atmos was under threat by Master Cyclonis, an evil overlord who threatened the peaceful world. A group of Sky Knights called the Storm Hawks eventually overthrew the evil Cyclonis and brought peace back to the land. Years later, a group of teenagers who idolized the legendary squadron unofficially took on the Storm Hawks name and wished to become official Sky Knights. However, because of their apparent youth, they are at first not respected by the Sky Council (or even their enemies). They soon are allowed to prove themselves, however, as the Aurora Stone is stolen by a new enemy who calls herself Master Cyclonis. She seems to be no older than the Storm Hawks themselves, and appears to be a new Cyclonis following in the steps of the first. Cyclonis, along with the Dark Ace, the man that was responsible for the disappearance of the last Storm Hawks and defeated numerous Sky Knights; Snipe, a huge, strong man that fights with a flail; and Ravess, a archer that uses a bow and arrow as a violin, plan to take over Atmos by using the Aurora Stone to destory the very land it used to protect.
