Welcome to stillness_storm. This is an icon contest community about the Johnny's Entertainment group Arashi. The challenge will feature pictures, bases, lyrics, quotes or just about anything we can come up with.

001. New challenges are posted every Thursday. Your icon submissions must have all the details for the challenge. Please refer to the individual submission posts for more information.
002. You have until Thursday evening to make an icon for the challenge. You can change your submitted icon at any time, until the deadline.
003. Voting will be posted when submissions close. Do not vote for your own icon, no matter the circumstances. If you do so, your vote will be discarded. Voting ends on Sunday, at which time results will be posted.
004. You can submit up to TWO (2) icons for each challenge, unless mentioned otherwise in the actual challenge post. You have to be a member of this community to participate.
005. This is a stillness community, which means animated icons aren't allowed.
006. Submit your icons as a comment on the challenge post. Your icons must conform to LiveJournal's image specifications; 100x100 or smaller and 40 kb or smaller, in jpg, gif, or png formats.
007. Icons must be newly made for the current challenge and must not displayed anywhere else on the Internet, in any context, other than the icontest, until after the contest is over and the results have been announced; doing so will cause for disqualification. This also means we do not allow cross-submission.

If we find you breaking or abusing the rules, your icons may be disqualified and you may even be banned from the community WITHOUT NOTICE.

By participating in this icontest, you thereby implicitly state that you have read all of these rules and that you agree with and will abide by them. If you need any clarification, please contact us in this post and ask.

Submit your icon like this. Put both the icon and the url of the icon into your comment. Please upload your icon to an outside image host such as imageshack, tinypic, or photobucket (which are all free), but not livejournal.

Anyone, even non-members, can vote. To vote, reply normally to the voting post with your THREE favorite icons. Do not vote for yourself under any circumstances, or your vote will be discarded.

Voting example:
First choice: 15
Second choice: 21
Third choice: 07
Special category: 11

The first choice icon receives three points, the second choice receives two points, and the third choice receives one point. Votes for icons in the special category will net them one point each. Results are based on these points.

The first, second, and third place icons as well as any special category icons or mod's choice icons will receive banners. Please comment to the results post if you placed and would like a banner.


Special Categories

The following are the definitions for the special categories. Be sure you know what you're voting for!

Most Creative; The icon demonstrates the most creativity and originality of design through its image, layout, text, and visual effects.

Best Emotion; The icon displays emotion the most effectively, evoking strong feeling through well-chosen image and/or text.

Best Interpretation; The icon reflects the most effective adaption and use of the theme through both its image and text.

Best Color; The icon demonstrates effective use of color, standing out from the other icons for that quality.

Best Cropping; The icon's image has been cropped in a way that is well-chosen for both visual interest and communicating the icon's message.

Best Text; The icon has the best text content; the words' actual meaning matches the icon well.

Best Typography; The icon has the best treatment of text (the physical appearance of the words on the icon) regardless of text content. Good text placement also plays a role in good typography.

Thursday: challenge is posted.
Thursday to Thursday: Submit icons.
Thursday to Sunday: Voting.

Icons may be submitted up until 8:00 PM Eastern/7:00 PM Central time on Thursday evening.

Note: Banners should be 100x300 or 100x250 and should include the icon that won, the icon maker's name, the award name, the week number of the challenge (theme name is optional), and 'stillness storm' somewhere on the icon. Please do not cover the icon itself at all on the banner (do not place banner elements over the icon itself) to maintain the integrity of the winning icon.
