HOLLYWOOD star Patrick Stewart has revealed how he was determined to play a role in Barnsley's Mystery Plays – even though he was performing elsewhere.
The star, famed for playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek, pre-recorded the Voice of God, which has been booming out during performances of the plays, which finish their run at Monk Bretton Priory tonight.Patrick – unable to perform in person because he was too busy performing in Waiting for Godot – said: "When I was asked I knew I wouldn't be able to give a lot of participation, but knew I wanted to be involved in some way.

Patrick Stewart and David Tennant will reprise their roles  for a new 180-minute screen version of the play, which will be aired on BBC Two later this year.

Patrick Stewart reprises his sugar daddy role as he steps out with a new flame less than half his age.

On stage for the London opening of Waiting For Godot this week, Patrick Stewart looked every one - and more - of his 68 years.

Yet it seems there is life in the old dog yet, if his recent romantic history is anything to go by.

Fresh from starring as the flea-bitten tramp Vladimir in Samuel Beckett's play opposite Sir Ian McKellen, Stewart arrived at the after-show party on the arm of a second much-younger companion.

New love: Patrick Stewart, 68, attends a Waiting For Godot after-show party with 31-year-old jazz singer Sunny Ozell

First, kudos to our co-moderator [info]trekchic for yesterday's April Fool's funny :)

So our theme for April is Patrick and his hats. Not everyone can rock a hat, and Patrick has certainly worn quite a few styles in his film and theater work. Mostly, he seems to use the baseball cap as a means of blending into the crowd. So this month is your chance to post your favorite pics of Patrick wearing a hat. I'll post the usual Friday picspam tomorrow, but to start us off, here's one to start us off.

Today Patrick Stewart announced his engagement to his former acting coach who just happens to be 10 years his senior.

When asked to comment his publicist said "Patrick is very happy and that's all that matters. Age has never been an issue for him, but yeah most of his girlfriends are a bit younger."

When approached by this reporter his son said: "Wow I'm just really surprised that my Dad would go for a granny, not that there's anything wrong with that."

The happy couple ...

Not sure how long this is going to stay on You Tube (as they have been getting militant about video content lately)

Sorry, I have forgotten the theme for March, but here are a few recent pics. The first was from a review of the new play he is doing with Ian McKellen, the final two are courtesy of [info]mata090680 and I think are from the Olivier Awards.
