Liverpool ace set to return for Real Madrid showdown
STEVEN GERRARD is winning his battle to be fit for Liverpool’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid.
And there was more good news for Kop fans with Rafa Benitez expected to sign his delayed £16million contract ‘within days’.
Gerrard is likely to miss next weekend’s Premier League visit of Manchester City due to hamstring trouble. But his sights remain firmly on the trip to the Bernabeu on February 25 and he has responded well to treatment.
He will be given until the last moment to prove he can travel to Spain.
Benitez and Liverpool co- owner Tom Hicks completed negotiations last night on the manager’s new deal which will tie him to the club until 2013.
Benitez had earlier rejected FOUR drafts of the deal as he demanded more control over the club’s transfer policy. And although he will still be accountable to the board for future signings, he has won many of the concessions he was asking for.
An Anfield source said: “The final issues have been ironed out. It’s hoped Rafa will sign within a few days.”

Liverpool Football Club today confirmed Steven Gerrard suffered a tear to his left hamstring during Wednesday night's FA Cup defeat at Everton.
Gerrard limped out of the action just sixteen minutes into the fourth round replay at Goodison and now faces three weeks on the sidelines.
A club spokesman told Liverpoolfc.tv: "A scan today has confirmed a tear in the hamstring of Steven's left leg. He will be out of action for about three weeks."

YES IT'S TRUE!!!
My dear ol' nan just rang me up and told me this:
"You know Joseph went to Anfield last week? Guess who he was
sat next to!" , "TORRES!?" , "No you're other favourite. You're Captain." , "OH MY GOD STEVEN GERRARD!?!"
It's actually amazing, like seriously! I'm sooo jealous but also mega excited and curious to know if my cousin spoke to Stevie at any point but he didn't realise who he was sat next to for a bit and then realised who it was! Lucky lucky lucky!!!

Just the other day I was in HMV looking for my new calendar for next year and I was dead set on getting a Torres one - although the only one out is an unofficial one and the pics are a bit shite to be honest - but i was going to get it until I came across Stevie.G's official calendar and OMG i almost died!
It is soo amazing and has some of the best pics of him I have ever seen! And I give you some of them below!!

Here are just two photos of the England National squad during training today.
I would just like to ask what everyone thinks about Stevie and Lampsy playing together and if you had to chose one because they couldnt both play together, Who would it be?
For me I would chose Gerrard anyday, He's a better player, simple as that... =D
