The Dark Volume, sequel to The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters, will be available in the US on March 24, 2009.
It is, I believe, already available in the UK.
If you wish to reserve yourself a copy, please visit Amazon.
If you're as much a fan of Mr. Dahlquist's work as I am, I'm the mod of a tiny little community called books_of_glass. Nothing much goes on over there, but a girl can dream. |

| New to steampunk |

| | excited | ] | Hello, names Jonathon, and I'm new to the world of Steampunk. I've been trying to find a fashion that I liked, something elegant, yet something different then what is considered 'elegant' by today's standards. I have always had a love for Victorian fashion, yet I always felt that something was missing in what I saw. I was about to give up and go back to the more Victorian and Gothic styles that I was already looking at getting into, when my gf (a lolita) saw some neat stuff on one of the communities that she belongs to online. All in all, i was hooked the first moment that I saw some of the stuff they had posted there. It was that perfect clash of old world fashion and technology that I wanted (but didn't really know i wanted till i saw it) that i thought was missing in so many other things.
The problem is, I'm having troubles finding good stores and websites that have the more elegant/atistocratic steampunk/neo victorian styles that I'm looking for. I would really love it if I could get some pointers from those of you who have been at this for a little while.
Thanks in advance, friends Jonathon W. Dell |

Who are these charlatans, you ask? None other than The Reverend Heywood Jablomi Fiasco, my friends. Until then, good day, and please continue with spreading the steam aesthetic.

PS...
You all should really check out this excellent steam-generation video series online. The series is called Wormtooth, and it is excellent! |

Not to be outdone by Kristina’s brilliant Keyboard, and Nathan’s brass guitar (see my LJ for these), I decided to erect a microphone for myself. And what a fine erection I now have! Feast your eyes on my erection!

...and thanks to today’s mad-scientist tinkering, it now sounds as good as it looks!
For those of you who are gear heads, and will understand this, I will tell you the details:
Its started life as a Blue Ball microphone, in a "Ringer" shock mount These are made in Latvia - phantom powered 48v DYNAMIC (not condenser, so no onstage feedback!). Now, its idea for recording my voice, since it excels in low tones...except for one problem: plosives.
Lets just say my plosives were explosive (sorry about that, I had to).
So, I built that little brass mouthpiece. Its actually a tiny little pop-filter, and since its about 2 inches from the mic element, there is no "POOM!" in "peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers". |

Some one had asked about our Keyboard and Laptop rig that we use onstage. I have some time this morning, so I thought I go into detail. Here she is: Back of Laptop at top, back of keyboard at bottom. Here is some of the detail. Next up: I'm going to be doing Nathans Guitar. Sweet.
