The air of some of these photographs is startlingly similar to those of photographs from the given time period! Almost eerie...
*cough* it's amazing the effect that well dress fully clothed men can have on me. ;)
You say that like it's a bad thing :)
from reading the very small writing underneath it seems that the looks are an amalgamation of designers.
eg. the last man appears to be wearing (bearing in mind the writing is really small and unclear which makes translation hard)

nice to see some good gentlemen's stuff.
a) is there a difference between a level of steampunk attire and simply direct period-similar dressing? yes, we have sewing machines and zips and velcro and better buttons, but that said, if the cut and the line is identical what's the difference. except of course for the mohawk.
b) more importantly who cares? i recently donned my subtly re-modified frock coat and re-tailored trousers and gadded about whitby with t' goths. was i steampunk? few people would have used that word. did i look good? ah, that would be the better question.
But yummy! =D This made my morning.
when I go out, I almost always select well-dressed gentlemen as my companions. I am always quite vocally appreciative (and sometimes not so vocally...)
I do desperately need a good frock coat and a new waistcoat....
That's sort of what my brain is doing.
