Steampunk Spiritualist--finally finished!

  • Oct. 29th, 2008 at 11:18 AM
All done in time for All Hallows' Eve.

I've been trying out different dresses/jackets/skirts/practically everything to make something that I can wear not just on Halloween. It took a few tries, but I got it right this time!

Since I'm going to be wearing this all day--I have three school Halloween parties to go to, plus Trick or Treating, of course!--my first order of business was to make sure this outfit was comfortable. It is just that.

The underskirt is silk, vintage 1900-1910.
The hat is a "Mrs. Duberville original".
The top and jacket are mine. I bought the jacket at Old Navy a couple of years ago.
The purple velvet cape is an 1880s reproduction.
I made the bustle overskirt myself from an old black cotton Bisou Bisou skirt and decorative lace.

I'll have more pics of the complete look (makeup, purple hair extensions, tarot cards) on the day. I can't wait to wear this. Enjoy!
