Star Trek Sighting!
So I'm at my husband's sister's graduation from UNC Chapel Hill in the pouring rain. I look to my left and realize (to my shock and happy amazement) that a Star Trek TNG actor was sitting in the row in front of me. It was Q! I quickly scanned the commencement booklet and found his son who played Q2 in VOY, John Keegan De Lancie. I've added the picture below that I surreptitiously took from underneath my umbrella.

Things I forgot to add because I was so happy I actually managed to post a picture on lj:

1. No, I did not go up to him, talk to him, hug him, or ask for his autograph (which I already have)

2. His son graduated with a bachelor's in Asian Studies.

3. No, I did not see his son (sadly).

Wow, cool! John de Lancie was the first Star Trek celeb I ever saw at a con. Cool guy.

Good move not going up to him too. I'm sure he didn't want to be bothered while he's there to watch his son graduate. I don't think I would have been able to hold back :-)

Given that the rain was pouring so hard (and we were only JUST under the overhang) that they cut out all the speeches and songs and walks and everything, I doubt it. I just stared at him a lot and called everyone I knew as soon as the ceremony was over :-P

I envy you.
I probably would not have approached him either, what with it being his son's day and all. I had a chance to meet him last year at Dragon*Con, but I chickened out after seeing the giant crowd (i have crowd anxiety issues).

Congrats!

John is looking pretty good. The gray suits him, and he seems to be thinner and healthier than the last time I saw footage of him.

He's a really cool guy. I met him at an SF convention in Blackpool, England in 1991.

I love John De Lancie. Did you know that he was on a Soap opera called Days of our Lives years ago. He is a great actor. He looks good with a beard.
