Make It So
I met up with some friends this morning at this coffee place in Hollywood. I tried the Mocha frappe, which was far from anything mocha, so I decided, instead of blended coffee, I'd go for some tea. So I asked the guy what teas they had. He motioned me to the wall where they had large jars full of tea leaves, all labeled. Next to Will Riker's Risan Jamoharojen(sp), I found Picard's Earl Gray, labeled exactly that, and I went with the PEG. It was just what I needed. Then I realized the name of the place: Ten Forward Coffee and Tea Lounge - 1635 Vine Street Hollywood, CA 90028 And where in Hollywood is it located? Next to the Ricardo Montalban Theatre. :) |

Good times 2:59 PM 11/11/09 · My love of crossovers nearly joygasmed cuz of this. First there was the original crew of Star Trek teaming with the X·Men, interesting turn of the Phoenix Force combining with Gary Mitchell. Then in another comic, roundabout the same time within a couple months, the crew of the Enterprise·D wind up in the past, on their way home from Star Trek: First Contact, but not their past and in an effort to get home they cross paths with the X·Men... ...the whole thing got mixed up with that time travelling despot Kang the Conqueror. To finalize all this, after the crew of the Enterprise·D got home they discovered that somehow the X·Men got caught up in their wake. Which worked out well as their was an issue with a world where a good chunk of the population started randomly generating superhuman abilities, which was well done not in comic form this time but an actual novel. Wolverine reprogramming the holodeck so he and Worf could go toe to toe with Juggernaut, Sabretooth, and a few other of his rogues made for a fun ending. Fic Search
I hope this is allowed here! I didn't want to join another fanfic community just for this post. Sorry if I annoyed anybody! I just had a thought: It would be entirely possible to have Star TrekVoyager x-over with SG-1! In particular I am looking for angsty episodefics where a Voy episode is re-created using the SG-1 team instead ofVoyager. It would be cool if SG-1 ended up on a planet from the Voyagerseries, and one of my fav. Voyager eps was Course Oblivion, so if there was a Jack/Daniel fic based on that episode, that would make my day! :)I would be surprised if there were no SG-1/Voyager fics! Current Mood: busy |

Grand Slam Convention?
Does anyone know if they're going to have the Creation Grand Slam convention next year? If I recall correctly, they usually have it in April or May, but I can't find it anywhere on their website. Current Mood: disappointed |

Geek
So everytime I am at work and I come across sodium nitrate, it makes me think of Wesley Crusher's experiment or the Borg...if you're a chemist, you'll understand. Anyone else have similar Star Trek "triggers" in their professional lives? |

Go vote for Star Trek XI
People's Choice for Best Movie. I know we don't care about what people think, but it would be nice to trounce all those other movies...though I did love Harry Potter. :) GO VOTE! |

may be of interest
This is a most excellent, slick, and well-presented publication chronicling the designing of J.J. Abrams' TREK film. In its 157 (ish) pages, you'll find Geek-enticing items like: ** 8 pages of U.S.S. Kelvin designs (exterior and interior concept art, photos, etc.)... ** Many pages of costume & character designs for both humans aliens appearing in the film (with several pages devoted to Romulans alone)... ** A look at Rura Penthe development art (a sequence not seen in the film, although it's on the DVD & Blu_Ray sets)... Geekiest. Craft. EVER. Figure-modding for morons: Enterprise Chekov, Cadet Sulu
I was minding my own business, liking Star Trek, buying a small and not unreasonable amount of Star Trek merchandise. Then, one day I woke up to find I had descended to a depth of geekitude I had never before suspected in myself. I had found the desire to modify action figures. What the hell? How did this happen to me? Oh wait, I wanted a mini bridge crew for my Christmas tree and saw this unfortunate news: "Chekov in Enterprise Uniform (available only online with this assortment)." Right, if I wanted Chekov in uniform, I needed to wait until January and then buy a giant expensive package of figures. What? No. Just no. * Then I came upon a way of making my bridge crew dreams come true through a method so stupidly simple, even I couldn't mess it up. I give you... The Head Swap! (Instructional pictures under each cut tag) ( First, you need a Cadet Chekov figure and a Sulu figure and a hair dryer. )( Next, you put the hair dryer on high and blow hot air from pretty close on the neck of the figure from all sides. )( Then you quick pull off his head. Pop! Off it comes! Pretty easy too. )( Then you switch the heads. Voila! Now you have a Chekov in a gold uniform and a Cadet Sulu action figure too! ) alder_knight, want a Cadet Sulu action figure? *Yeah, or buy him at the vastly inflated rate of $20 after shipping from a shady figure broker. I know. But hell no. This was cheaper, faster and more fun, and I got two figures out of it. |

I think this stuff is cool as hell A fellow fan at the TrekBBS message board posted the first scans from the upcoming hardcover book Star Trek The Art of the Film by Titan Books, on sale November 17th. You can see the sketches artwork for Starfleet Academy, the Orion cadet Gayla, the new U.S.S. Enterprise exterior and interior, the damaged USS Kelvin and even Klingon cruisers.
You can find larger versions of those images at the TrekBBS ( Read more... ) |
