Hello all! I know this community is mostly dead, but I'd share some pseudo-Stars news. Torquil Campbell's side project, Dead Child Star, just released a new album titled "Cold Hands, Warm Heart."

You can get it here at the Stars site. Torq tweeted earlier today, "this is a self financed vibe folks. please dont upload to a file sharer for a while, at least until ive sold a couple of hundred copiesxoxox"

Anyway, let me know what you all think of the album if you download it!

Wow this community is pretty much dead.

Thought I would add a little something I made to it the other day while listening to Stars.

Stars leaves Arts and Crafts [25 Apr 2009|10:00pm]

nikki_dw
Saw this posted on the Arts & Crafts home page...

"Arts & Crafts would like to formally wish the members of Stars - Amy, Chris, Evan, Patty and Torquil - the very best in their future endeavours as we officially announce our parting of ways. As foreshadowed in past A&C news postings and following in the footsteps of last fall's self-released Sad Robots EPStars are now entering a new chapter of their career and have decided as a group, to move outside of the A&C roster. The band has been a key figure in our collective successes over the past five years and we are grateful and appreciative of our continued friendship.   We know they will continue to make amazing records outside of Arts & Crafts.  At the same time, we look forward to sharing details for albums in the works from Amy Millan and Memphis (Torquil Campbell) which are due for release on Arts & Crafts this fall."

Anybody know what's going on? I haven't been able to find anything. Personally, I hope they just keep self-releasing albums like with Sad Robots and what Metric's been doing. I'm super excited about the new albums coming out later this year! I didn't know Memphis was releasing a new album, I had only heard about Torq's Dead Child Star. 2009 is proving to be a great year for music.

This nearly gave me a heart attack because all I saw was "members of Stars and parting of our ways" before I investigated further. Crisis averted!

Edit: This appears to have been removed from the Arts & Crafts website.

Set list? [03 Dec 2008|01:05pm]

acute
I know this comm's slightly dead, but I have a question!

I'm about to see Stars for the first time in 29 days (not that I'm counting...) and was just wondering if someone could tell me what sort of set list they've been playing since Sad Robot? What I'm likely to hear?

Any help is A+, thank you (:

I found this article about Amy Millan and New Buffalo (who toured with Stars), and it's their perspective about girls in the music industry. I thought people may be interested in taking a look at it, so here it is. Enjoy.

Awesome gig today at Northwestern University! So much sweeter, fresher, and more intimate than the sold-out gig at Chicago's Vic Theatre last fall. Maybe it was the beautiful view of the lakefront, the sunshine, or the overwhelmingly sober audience-- I don't care. It was a great time.

Torq, if you're reading this: I hope you feel better soon. And that one girl whooping and clapping during your quotation from "Desire As"? That was me.

Saying hello, and a queston about merch [28 Mar 2008|01:06pm]

noramatilda
Hello everyone! I'm new to this community and wanted to to say hi.
I'm going to my first Stars show tomorrow in Michigan, and I can't wait...it sounds like everyone on here has been blown away.

Can anyone tell me what kind of merch has been available? I want to know how much money I should bring--is it the same stuff available on the website store?

Baltimore/Charlotte [24 Mar 2008|02:19pm]

I was inspired to make this entry by nikki_dw's great photos posted a few moments ago. Photos are from the Baltimore show last Wednesday and the Charlotte show Friday. Both shows were great, though the latter was particularly amazing. ("The Woods" is one of my new favourite live songs.) More details on them here, if you're interested.

Will I see any of you in Millvale?

Saturday nights in neon lights... [24 Mar 2008|01:24pm]

Saturday night's show in Athens was amazing. Not as many people came out as I'd expected but they were absolutely fantastic. Under the cut are a few pictures.

Was anyone else there? I thought Martin Royle and Pash were great too.
"You see we got pulled over on the way up here and little Marty was sitting on a quarter ounce of something..."

edit: i added the last picture of amy millan

And let me stay. [19 Mar 2008|02:55am]

Download.

This is tonight's performance of "Take Me to the Riot" from Conan (in handy 320x240/QVGA MP4 format). Torquil & Amy didn't tone it down for television, and Chris even seemed to be getting into it in the end. Sorry it's so dark; my laptop monitor needs some adjustment. And now I must sleep in preparation for Stars tonight! Enjoy the video!

Band photos [10 Feb 2008|12:36pm]

Hello fellow Stars fans!

Can anyone tell me where I can find pictures of the band for iconing? Not necessarily pictures from live shows, but more like photoshoots and promotional pictures. I can't seem to be able to find any (or maybe I'm just not looking in the proper places).

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: I saw them live in Paris last night and they blew my mind away, they were so amazing!
