23rd-Aug-2008 11:56 am - Update
Well, I am still around and still working on so many ideas for patterns right now! This summer has been crazy busy for me also.

Unfortunately, my computer died a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not sure when I will be able to post anything new (I know, I know... I haven't in a while, but...). Right now I am at my inlaws using their computer to write this.

Luckily, I had alot of what I was working on saved onto an external hard drive, so nothing is lost, but that also means that I have to completely hand write everything! Ah, how computers spoil us! LOL

I hope that everyones summer has been a fun and safe one and hopefully come fall I should quite a bit to post!

15th-Jun-2008 10:55 pm - Update + Ocean Breeze Halter
Yes, I am still alive. Life has been quite hectic lately, especially just before my kids got out of school.

I'm still pretty busy crocheting and even knitting. I have started on my very first pair of knit socks. They are a toe-up pattern that is worked on a set of circular needles called the Magic Loop and I love it so far. Crochet is still my first love, but on those days that I need something different, knitting fits the bill.

I have a few projects going on right now, besides the socks. I am working on a Linen Broomstick Lace summer wrap that I think that I'm going to call Summer Breeze, the socks, and a pair of crocheted and a pair of knitted fingerless gloves. I finished a shrug that I started awhile ago, I have most of it written down, but I think that I have to tweak the different sizes finish writing it and get it tested, the only thing that I have ever designer with sizes were a pair of sandals. I also finished a summer halter today. It was very quick, considering that it went from my brain straight to my hook. I'm pretty happy with it. I'm am going to have to try to remember how I made it and write it down and figure out sizing for it, just in case anyone is interested in the pattern.

On to the pics )

13th-Oct-2007 03:14 pm - Update
I just wanted to let everyone know that I now have a Flickr album dedicated to my Crochet (and some knitting) projects. I have the link in the links list in the sidebar on the left and also on my "About Me" page.

It will be longer than I thought to update on any projects or patterns right now. The last couple of months has been quite hectic with my kids schools, weather change illnesses and my classes.

I have also taken up doing crochet repair/restoration and finishing through Neighborhood Knits. They now have my business cards, so I guess that I'm not just a SaHM any longer.

The only thing that I have to work out now with working from home (except for my classes which are held at Neighborhood Knits) is trying to divide my time and balance out what I need to get done around the house, working on the repairs and taking time to write my own patterns.

The Dalek pattern has been taking longer to work up than I thought. I am having problems remembering how I made it and issues deciphering my own notes lol

Keely's Gauntlets (I'm not sure if that will be the official name yet or not) still needs to be worked up in adults sizes and I already have 2 potential testers signed up for it. I think that I might at least 2 more testers whenever it is ready. If anyone is interested, either email me at midknight_starr@liverjournal.com or comment here with your email and I will get back to you.

The gauntlet pattern will be intermediate at the least because of the crocheted ribbing, cabling, post stitches and shaping. I just can't guarantee when this will happen right now though.

All comments to this post will be screened.

12th-Jul-2007 06:57 pm - Another project in the works
I swear that I am totally scatter-brained sometimes! LOL

Well, I practically got my mothers sandals finished, I just need to finish sewing the upper on the one and make the tie and take a pic. I still have the Dalek going, but now I have another project that I am working on! LOL

I was watching Doctor Who S03 eps Human Nature/Family of Blood again (for the 10th time lol) and going over the screen caps that I made of said eps, when I noticed that the hat (tam) that Martha is wearing in Human Nature looks like it is definitely crocheted in the round.
cut for pic spam )
I went to my LSYS and used dome of my store credit to get some merino wool and I am, right now, trying to replicate it and I doubt that it will be very difficult to make, it should be quite simple, in fact.
I will most likely be sharing that pattern also, if anyone is interested, that is.

I hope to have some pics to post soon.

10th-Jul-2007 12:36 pm - Just a bit of an update
Well, I had to put my pattern for the Dalek on hold for a bit because I had promised my mom a pair of my sandals and she is gong to be up here next week, so I really need to have those done first.

Along with the Dalek, I have some other Doctor Who inspired patterns running around my head too.
So those are going on the list of "Patterns I need to write" along with the Dice and Viking Rune pillows lol I ended up dong the Daleks when I did because my kids were "bugging" me for them and it was difficult to turn them down lol

I am really hoping to figure out how to get a website up too sometime.

So much to do, so little time to do it. It's one of those that I really wish that I had a TARDIS lol

My major wishlist for my "business":

More time (yeah, right lol)
a better computer with more memory (again LOL)
A real digital camera (coz my camera phone kinda sucks)
a new printer with a scanner (in the works of trying to get one)

*sigh*

Back to work I go....

Oh, got the new header up with a name. It was [info]wickedmommy's idea. I liked her idea of only using part of my user id in the comm name. Thanks!

20th-Jun-2007 06:34 pm - News boy cap, bag and updates
My daughter wanted a new hat, a specific hat, like one that I made her last year, but one of her school class mates stole it.

Well, here it is! )

Sorry for lack of updating for a couple of months. I got extremely busy with "really life" and my crochet classes are going pretty well.

Last month, I taught how to make sandals similar to the ones in my previous post and, right now, I am teaching this )

Next month, I was finally scheduled to teach basic and beginning crochet. I have been telling them that we need the basic class because there have been TONS of requests for it, so, here it is!!! I will be teaching the same bag in August. It's going to be a split session though.
They forgot that I told them that I was going to be out of state in Aug and scheduled me.
So...I am starting out the class on the 4th, then it will pick back up on the 25th and the 1st of Sept.

Right now I am crocheting a Dalek! I hope to get it finished very soon!

I hope that my next update will be much sooner!
