I was just looking for the knitting block for November & was wondering if you knitters were up for some cables. They are quite easy once you've seen it done. Tell me what you think.

This isn't it but I thought I'd try to tempt you. muwahahaha

Finally, I got them done. Woo Hoo!!! I solemly swear that this months will be posted on time. ;-p
Gryffindor 'Diagon'al Knitted Block

Here's the pattern on rav & the pattern on the web. The pattern needs tweaked a little to get it to 12". All you have to do is when working the Increase Half repeat row 2 until there are 77 stitches on the needle. Then change colors & work the Decrease Half.
Chessboard Crocheted Block
Gryffindor Chessboard Slytherin Chessboard

Ravenclaw Chessboard Hufflepuff Chessboard
I used one of
ofenjen's patterns again & thought it very appropriate for Harry Potter. Here's the pattern on rav & the pattern on her site.
ofenjenmodified the pattern to make it a 12" block. She says to "ch 42, then do 3dc instead of 4." I did 23 rows & then sc all around. Here's a bonus pic of it all Harry'd up.

pst...I'm sorry about no cut but I can't get it to work. I've messed with it for the last 30 minutes. :(

so i did a stitch marker tute over on my other blog. im sharing it because it features two sets of stitch markers that i made for some swaps this year. the pix of those are below but if you wanna see the tute for how to make them or download a copy of the tute head over here.
Hey all, I'm new here, first post and first pattern! I only just started to crochet, so I'm not the best...
My inspiration came from this wrist-band pattern, but realized that the flower... well, didn't go with the dark arts theme... So I tweaked it!
The new pattern I wrote up is available up on my blog, so check it out!

Little Tom Riddle has joined the bunch!
Miserable little bugger, but less scary to look at than Voldy -_^

Kind of annoying to have such a surly square, but where would we be without him?!

this has nothing to do with HP but you all are my crochet buddies so i thought id ask here. i am making chad a ripple blanket for christmas. this is my first ripple blanket and im using the lion brand pattern for homespun here. basicly what you do is a few SC, then do 3 SC in the same space, then you SC a few more and, then skip 2 SC and, the SC a few more. heres the problem.
my counts arent matching up with what they are giving me in the pattern. but i can see how its supposed to work i think so if the #'s arent totally on i dont care. in the up ripples am i supposed to make 3 SC in the center stitch of the previous rows 3 SC? and then in the down ripple am i supposed to skip the center 2 SC? they SHOULD line up right? pionts over points and dips over dips?
please tell me this made sense to someone.
HAAAAAALP!

you all voted and your vote was heard. for a variety of reasons you all would like to move onto a new theme for this month and maybe revisit the september patterns in the future so thats what we are gonna do!
THIS MONTHS THEME IS THE DARK ARTS!
well obvy. halloween is fast approaching and what could be creapier than some of moldy voldy followers right?! since every one has already started their "other" (hurumph) holiday crafting and are all very busy (i totally feel ya.) im going to run this month like movie month. basicly you make any item relating back to dark wizards, dark arts, death eaters. voldemort, etc. and share it here and you will be entered in the drawing for the prize.
HERES THE CATCH
1) your item must be made from a free pattern available on the web. you can alter it all you want to make it fit the theme like duplicate stitch a dark mark on it if you want. but the starting point must be a free web pattern.
2) you must link that free pattern in your post here with a picture of your project before october 31st at midnight central time.
3) your item must be knitted, crocheted, or spun (yes this is a knitting store people! you can do spinning projects and enter those too. do we have any spinners here?) OR it can be a knitting or crochet accessory (think hook roll, or stitch markers, etc)
4) dont forget to include "october free pattern challenge" in your tags
HERES A BONUS!
anyone that alters a pattern and shares their new technique or embellishment how tos here gets their name in the drawing TWICE! yup. if you add a dark mark to a purse and share your graph for how you did that your name goes in the pot two times for the prize. WOO HOO! trick or treat!
TO GET YA STARTED WHY NOT TRY SOME OF THESE PATTERNS
KNIT

the dark mark bag
Dark mark illusion knit scarf
CROCHET
voldemort finger puppet
naginni ok not really but it could be!
THE PRIZE
this months prize will be donated by the wonderful
dragonsinger954 and i will update this post with a picture of what it is as soon as i get one. its gonna be somethin great! dont you worry :0) also you get a cool button for your blog saying you won a challenge here (also made by dragonsinger) and a cool starknuts button made by the wonderful

I've been working all morning to try to finish my homework for the Harry Potter House Cup on Ravelry. Homework is due Sept 30th and I've only managed to finish two classes, *sigh*
For Transfiguration I made a Tunisian Crochet House bookscarf and actually blocked it! I'm in Ravenclaw and the scarf is Gryffindor colors, but it's for a friend.

And my niffler, Mr. Niffy, returned home this morning with this

I took my inspiration from Dragonsingers Crocheted Slytherin Locket, (*waves* Thanks!) When I saw her version I just had to run away with it.
