AboutThis is a community for adults who were homeschooled when younger. It is for talking about:
- your experiences - how you were homeschooled
- your perspective on your experiences - what worked well, what worked less well?
- your transition to college/job/the world outside family
- changes in your perspective over the years
It is for thinking, talking, growing, and expanding our understanding and knowledge of our own and others' experiences of having been homeschooled.
Several things to note:
- Homeschooling experiences cover a wide range of territory along many dimensions: religious to atheist, just-like-school-but-at-home to unschooling, right-wing to left-wing, homeschooled-for-a-year to homeschooled-for-life, overwhelmingly positive to primarily negative, and many experiences among and outside of this. Please keep in mind our variety when posting so that we can try to learn from each other without descending into fights!
- 'Adults' here means ‘people who are living in and dealing with the non-homeschooling-relevant world for some time on a full-time daily basis’, e.g., are no longer in a full-time homeschooling environment, are in college or have a job. Some people are adult much earlier than legal adulthood, and they are of course welcome here too!
- To current homeschoolers and parents of homeschoolers: you are welcome to join and follow along, although you may find the following communities more relevant to you:
