What we are
A fiction-only community for flashfiction based on cast or characters from the CW's Supernatural. Feedback is highly encouraged, and friendly discussion of stories is welcome in comments to the stories, but only stories may be posted to the comm itself by members - no discussions, no alerts, no requests. Mods will post challenges, close challenges, and occasionally make posts related to comm business.
What we accept
Supernatural fiction: Slash, gen, or het fiction of all genres, ratings and pairings which include at least one character from Supernatural as a main character. Crossovers are allowed, as long as Supernatural characters are more than minor players.
Real person fiction: Slash, gen, or het real person fiction of all genres, ratings and pairings which include at least one individual from the cast of Supernatural as a main character. Crossovers are allowed, as long as the individual(s) from the cast of Supernatural are more than minor players.
How it all works
1. Challenges run for one week, and new challenges will be posted once every week on Saturdays (or Sundays, if your mod is extra busy). You can post a challenge response story any time between the time the challenge is opened, and the time it closes (a week later). If a challenge seems particularly busy, and if we receive requests, we may extend the challenge to a two-week run. When a challenge is closed, no further stories may be posted for that particular challenge.
2. Challenge response stories must be posted only to thespnflashfic community for the duration of the challenge.
3. The challenge will be formally closed by the MODERATOR at the end of the challenge period (or as soon as she gets around to it). You can keep posting until you see that formal closing message. After that message, no more stories for that challenge will be accepted, and you are free to crosspost your story to your own LJ, webpage, archive, or anywhere else. A new challenge will be posted shortly thereafter.
4. Please contribute COMPLETE Supernatural or Supernatural:RPF stories ranging from 100 to 1000ish words.
5. Members are limited to no more than five story posts per day. If for some reason you need to exceed that, ask one of the Mods; we'll evaluate requests on a case by case basis.
6. Labels, headers, and subject lines.
7. Spoiler Policy: If your story contains spoilers for any episode or season that has not yet aired in the US, a spoiler warning should be included and visible outside of the story cut tag.

spnflashfic. The object of this community is to be a community; therefore, for the duration of the challenge, we prefer driving traffic and conversation to the comm rather than diverting it away. By posting your story on the comm only for one week, you help keep attention on the comm; by linking to it in your own LJ, you bring people in to see your story and all the other cool stuff we're doing. (Note: Should the mountains crumble and the skies fall, this comm will never be deleted while LJ is still around; your feedback will stay where you left it. However, it's still always a good idea to have your comments mailed to you if you're a feedback hoarder like me!)3. - Upper word limit will not be enforced! Because we're lazy like that. But as a general rule, we like to keep the flash in flashfiction.
WIPs by their nature are not flashfiction, and so are not allowed on the comm. If your story is complete, but will not fit in one post, you are allowed to post your story in parts (i.e., 1/2 and 2/2, etc.); however, all parts of your completed story must be posted at roughly the same time on the same day. A story post labeled "1/2" that is not followed up with its "2/2" within a reasonable timeframe (say an hour) will be deleted.

- a. For your Archivist's convenience, please include "by [Your author name]" in the subject line of your post. Stories will be archived in the memories section by challenge name.
b. If your story is RPF, please include RPF first in the subject line of your post. For instance:
RPF: Story title, by myauthorname
c. If your story is Supernatural fiction, please include SPN first in the subject line of your post. For instance:
SPN: Story title, by myauthorname
Note: The SPN and RPF labels are meant to serve as category markers, not warnings. Neither is more nor less welcome here than the other.
d. All stories, no matter the length, should be cut tagged. A cut tag is made by typing < lj-cut text="put your cut tag text here" > without the space before "lj" and without the space after the final ".
e. Pairings, warnings, spoiler warnings for recent episodes, and other information is appreciated but not required. Caveat lector.
7. Spoiler Policy: If your story contains spoilers for any episode or season that has not yet aired in the US, a spoiler warning should be included and visible outside of the story cut tag.
- This is not meant to be US-centric; it merely reflects the moderators' belief that most active SPN fans on LJ are seeing episodes not long after they air in the US -- which is the first market episodes hit. As a courtesy, continuing to include spoiler warnings for a week or so after each new episode airs in the US would probably not do any harm, and would likely endear US SPN fen to our friends overseas.
