I have no voice, but I'm going to be a little busy bee running around London this weekend, and so Smecks and I did a news swap. Hope you're all having a great end to your week!

1. Alright, I'm putting my hands up right now and letting y'all know this stuff confuses the heck out of me, BUT over here you'll find the first set of time-shifted ratings for epi401. Oooooh wait, I get it! It's the ratings for those folks who don't watch the episode live but instead DVR it and watch later (kind of like Sky+ for us Brits) and watch it later! ANYWAY. SPN 401 came in at #14 for time-shifted episodes that week.

2. Over at TVGuide they have a Cheers&Jeers column. Supernatural made this week's Reader's cheer

3. CWSource gets the 404 review ball a'rollin' over here. As always, theres a bunch of polls, and as always comments are enabled so beware spoilers.

4. CWSource also have a podcast for 'Something Wicked' for you to listen to.

5. It seems both BuddyTVs and SignOnSanDiego's reviews this week both contain a final paragraph relating to next week's episode so I'm not going to link you. Suffice to say, BuddyTv liked the episode, SignOnSanDiego were less than impressed and gave show only a C- this week. Urk.

6. The IGN review I can link you to however! They linked the anvilicious (I miss the episode review of doooooooom :() state of 404 this week :D

Supernatural got a mention in the Full Frontal Nerdity comic.

And another, this time in the new Entertainment Weekly where it was ranked 8 out of 20 on a chart for "emotional attachment".

By popular demand, this week Pink Raygun is providing a Halloween pumpkin carving template of the Metallicar! I am totally making this in a couple of weeks, I love it.

Lazarus Rising, which aired on September 18th, is in at # 14 for the DVR timeshifted numbers.

If you order The Christmas Cottage from Creation you will receive a hand-signed autographed photo, randomly selected from Jared Padalecki, Chad, Lindberg, Alona Tal, or Fred Lehne.

Supernatural is experiencing a ratings surge (in case you hadn't noticed me squealing about it). Did you know we have experienced more growth in the 18-49 demographic this season than any other show? How awesome *refuses to think about the negatives* don't click the actual link within that post, it has spoilers for next week's ep above the article.

So, last week I couldn't bring you a pimpyo post as my net was beeing EEE-vil. So this, in theory, is a bumper fortnightly issue.

Just a heads up: Jensen is pretty.

1. You know, it's been a while since I've coded a JDM piece if news in the bulletin. Gasp! This is suitably rectified: SciFi.com have an interview with Watchmen director Zack Snyder.

2. AOL.com have a poll going... Fall TV: Sexiest Stars. Jensen and Megalyn Echikunwoke ('Cassie Robinson' in "Route 666") (Nope, still can't say her name!) have both been nominated. To vote for Jensen, click here. To vote for Megalyn, click here.

3. Just so you know, the ever so lovely Lauren Cohan (Bela Talbot) will guest-star on the pilot episode of the CW new series, Valentine tonight. For those of you get the CW network, Valentine airs on Sundays at 8/7C. I did find a link to a preview of the pilot, but clearly is spoilery so we won't be linking you til tomorrow :)

The Live Feed have a list of the biggest fall gainers and droppers so far and SPN is the Number One Gainer! (it doesn't take into account pre-emption and/or lack of competion, but it's still a nice thing to see).

News - Friday 3rd October

This icon amuses me way more than it should. In other news, it's post-show day *YAY ARMS*

So, the important bit first, ratings. Guess what Show got *nudges* guess...3.57 million viewers! That's up quite drastically from last week's, and yet again a vast improvement on s3 average ratings, so yay!

Plus plus PLUS, remember a while back I reported in a news post that we were getting season 4 promo pics? Well, WE ARE! andreas_ri has got his hands on 10 Jensen pics and 6 Jared pics (no ensemble pics as of yet). He's not allowed to post them until the CW officially release them (date unknown at the moment), but he does have a gorgeous teaser of Jensen's arms IN A SINGLE LAYER! ETA: I've just had a second look at this and andreas_ri is using a spoiler icon. It's off to the side, which is why I didn't notice it at first, so keep your eyes center on Jensen and the text, and you'll be fine.

The CW Source have polls on 4x03. As always, watch the comments.

kroki_refur has her episode review of doom: 4x03 part one up. As always, don't drink and read at the same time.

In the beginning

Wow.

This time, more than ever I think, I am at a loss for words. Poor Dean, as if he hasn’t been through enough, this was as bad as his time in the alternate reality the djin cooked up for him. No, I think this was worse. At least we have some answers, Dean has answers, and he knows something is up with Sam. Maybe some honesty will come out of this even if I know that is a lot to ask for with the two of them.

I expect to see this post full of discussions on tonight’s episode when I check back tomorrow. Have fun, and please remember to keep it absolutely spoiler free.

I have never, ever had a news night with no news. This is actually a little depressing.

Some stations will be showing the Presidential Debate tonight instead of our boys, so be sure to check with your local affiliate to see which is airing in your area. Remember, you can always catch the episode at CW.com.

OMG YAY, we have news! It looks like Jared will be making an appearance at Spike TV's 'Scream 08' Awards. There is still time to place your votes. According to the website, the awards show will air on October 21st.

JustJared.com: Your introduction to Supernatural was well-received by the fans, did you find that surprising or reassuring?

Misha Collins: Yeah, I think it was both surprising and reassuring. Well, it was definitely reassuring and I’m surprised by the magnitude of the warm reception.

JJ: Would you say you might be intimated by it?

MC: Sometimes I feel like when I’ve just started on other shows, this is just one of a million procedural dramas. Nobody’s watching it too carefully, so you get the sense its on in the background while people are cooking dinner or something. And seeing how closely the fans watch [Supernatural], and how enthusiastic they were about my character, and how they panned other characters in the past, it seems like the stakes just get ramped up really quickly. And it kinda makes me want to do a good job and not screw up. I’d hate to fall out of the good graces of the fans. So, yeah, it’s a little intimidating.

JJ: Let’s talk about Castiel a little bit. Did you create a back story for him at all? Or did you sort of just go in blind and go on what Eric Kripke was letting you know?

MC: Yeah, I created as much as I could. I didn’t have a ton of time before shooting the first episode, but I created as much as I could. It’s an unusual kind of back story for me, just because he’s an angel, and in my mind, he’s kind of thriving on an ethereal plane. So a lot of the back story I created for me is kind of abstract and maybe difficult to articulate. But I definitely did, and I’m glad that I have more time to get into it a little bit more, and feel more me. But Kripke hasn’t given me much back story, other than saying that angels haven’t been down, interacting with human beings for two thousand years, and so there’s a quality of curiosity in interacting with human beings because they’re alien beings to me. But other than that, I haven’t been given more back story than what’s in the dialog in the scripts.

JJ: Sounds like you’re about as much in the dark about it as we are.

MC: Yup! I’m flying blind and making it up!

JJ: Do you think Castiel is aware of Ruby at all? About what her true motives might be, because I know in the episode that just aired (“Are You There God? Its Me, Dean Winchester”), he told Dean that Castiel was focusing on the big picture more than anything else, so do you think Ruby might come into play with Castiel?

MC: I don’t know whether they’re going to have much interplay. This is just an assumption and shouldn’t be taken as fact, but my assumption is that [Castiel] does know about Ruby.

JJ: So before you were on Supernatural did you consider yourself to be a sci-fi/fantasy fan, or is this sort of a whole new sort of beast for you in terms of acting?

MC: You know I’ve always liked sci-fi/fantasy films. I’ve never really followed any sci-fi television shows though. I wouldn’t consider myself a fan. When asked, I think I say the Matrix is my favorite movie. So, you know, I’m a bit of a fan, but this is a new world to me.

JJ: Yes, I can imagine so.

MC: Experiencing it on this side is new to me.

JJ: Right, especially because, as you mentioned earlier, you’d done some work on procedural shows so is your approach completely different now that you’ve kinda gotten a taste of what it is to do a procedural versus a recurring character on a sci-fi show?

MC: I don’t think that my approach is different. I think it’s nice being able to have a little bit of an arc. [SPOILERS REDACTED] It’s nice to have more time to sink into a character. It’s hard when a lot of times on procedural shows, it’s like you audition and then you’re shooting the next day. There’s not a whole lot of time to piece something together and there’s a lot of material to work with in a short period of time so you’re winging it a little bit more. And not to say I’m not winging it now, but I just have a little bit more time to wing it a little bit better maybe.

JJ: Okay, so hopefully you’ll be on Supernatural for awhile, but if you aren’t do you see yourself staying in Vancouver for awhile? Do you see yourself being based in LA or some other place?

MC: I think probably staying based in LA for the time being and just flying up to shoot when I need to. The trip seems to get easier.

JJ: We promise we’re not going to tell Jared [Padalecki] and Jensen [Ackles] this, but you mentioned that you might do a “first strike” on the prank war, so have you come up with anything yet?

MC: Well, first of all, if I had come up with anything I certainly wouldn’t be able to circulate it in advance. That would be just bad form. I mean it’s a good thing I hadn’t, because I’d just be shooting myself in the foot at the same time. You know what, I don’t know… Do you know what pranks they have done in the past?

JJ: Well, I know that Jared has sewn shut the hole in Jensen’s pants so he couldn’t put his legs in.

MC: [laughs] That’s good!

JJ: And I know they got pranked before with getting the black ink on their binoculars so when they pull them down they’ve got the black circles around their eyes.

MC: [laughs] That’s good too. All right, it’s good that it’s little bit more of a known enemy and I know what I’m dealing with. That’s good.

JJ: Ok, so semi-serious here, who has better hair - you or Jared Padalecki?

MC: Well, he has more hair…

JJ: Yeah, it’s quite the point of contention.

MC: I used to have long hair, as well, and it has its advantages. But I’m willing to concede this one to Jared. He has better hair than I do.

JJ: Okay, so that round to him. I read that you went kayaking recently, so you gearing up for the Olympics, you think you’re gonna hit London in 2012 with your kayaking skills?

MC: Now that would be great, wouldn’t it? I would love to be able to answer ‘yes’ to that question. I’ve been a river kayaker for a long time and I’ve done quite a few trips. I like kayaking and I like canoeing. I don’t really like being on yachts or sailboats or cruise ships. I don’t like anything that’s large and not human-powered. But small, human-powered watercraft, those are right up my alley. But, I suppose I’m not that keen on paddle-boats, so it’s not a blanket statement.

JJ: It’s maybe arm power instead of foot power, there.

MC: Right.

JJ: Okay. So, it’s the end of a long day, you flip on the television. What’s it tuned to - Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune?

MC: Hmmm. Definitely, definitely Jeopardy, for me.

JJ: Oh yeah? Would you like to compete on it? Maybe the celebrity version that they have?

MC: I’ve never really given it that much thought. My mind isn’t exactly that good for useless trivia, or trivia of any kind, actually. Useful trivia I’m not really that well-equipped to adhere. So, I think I’m happy to stay where I am relative to Jeopardy [laughs] which is as a watcher, not a participant.

JJ: Watch it and say, “Oh, I knew the answer.”

MC: Right. That’s what I do! Yeah, I’ll watch it and I’ll shout out the answers and I’ll be, “Hey, aren’t I cool?”

JJ: Better angel: John Travolta in Michael, Michael Landon in Highway to Heaven, or Alan Rickman in Dogma?

MC: Oh, Alan Rickman! I thought he was great. I love him. That’s my vote.

JJ: That’s my vote, too. And I think a lot of people vaguely expected Castiel to be a little bit like Alan Rickman and sort of explode people’s heads with his voice.

MC: You know, that movie stirs up a lot of controversy but Alan Rickman’s angel is good.

JJ: Do you think Alanis Morisette will make a guest appearance as God in the last episode of Supernatural?

MC: That is an excellent casting recommendation. That would be… yeah, I mean, why not? It’s tried and true terrain for her. It shouldn’t be that hard. They could probably get her for pretty cheap since she’s done it before.

JJ: Yeah, well, and she is Canadian, so she probably has some pull up there!

MC: Oh, yeah! Right! Someone asked earlier whether God was going to make an appearance on the show. I think that’s a big one to handle. I can’t imagine they do that successfully.

JJ: Well, maybe if they did it with something wacky, you know, like having Alanis Morisette.

MC: Yeah, that might work!

I needs a Jensen or a Misha *pouts*

For all those who have On Demand through cable (and I'm assuming this is just America), you could get access to interviews with Jensen and Jeff from Comic Con. Follow the link for details on how to find it.

BuddyTV have a short interview with Jensen (linked to youtube as the article itself has a picture of Jensen filming).

Make sure to check the time Supernatural airs tomorrow. Depending on where you live, it will be either airing at a different time or not at all.

Tvbythenumbers.com put together a list of shows ordered from most likely to get cancelled to least likely. Supernatural is smack in the middle, so we're talking 50/50 chance. They say that like it's news...

Hey guys!
Two spoilers lurking around the comms today dean_sam have a small interview with Jim Beaver by Rabid Doll from SyfyPortal, it has spoilers for an upcoming episode but not the number.
Also, Ausiello has spoilers for a new character and it's posted at dean_sam too
SupernaturalCentral have a promo for the show as well, it has clips of 4.01 in it. Promo is pretty awesome. Will link to upload if anyone wants. Just give me a shout.
Lastly, BuddyTV posted a new interview with Jensen on set. No spoilers at all.

Heads up!

There is a spoiler in the comments of the season 3 sign-up post over at dudemeter</lj>. The commentor gives away some pretty huge casting/plot info for 4.03.

Mods, please delete if this kind of post is not allowed. It's just, I did not expect to see any spoilers there at all, and got socked in the face with it. So I don't want that happening to anyone else. And I was so close to making it to the episode spoiler free, too!

Variety.com bring us news of last Thursday's ratings; Show took a slight dip compared to the premiere, but still held its own with a very respectable 3.2 million viewers overall.

Steve Carlson has been added to Chicago's Creation Con! (Wench will be pleased :D)
