But here's a new prompt for week two of the hiatus, inspired by my lateness and my (poor) excuses.

Blame - there's a lot of it to go around in the SPN-verse. From the Winchesters to the demons to the humans caught in between, there's a lot of blame to be given and taken. So what do you think?

What I mean by this is: If you write a fic with spoilers for episode 4.4 and that episode has not aired yet then that fic is not permitted to be posted here until AFTER episode 4.4 has aired in the U.S.

“I sold stuff,” Dean said proudly.  “I was a Sales Associate.  Had the red shirt and everything.”  Chuckling softly to himself, he hopped out of the car, popped the trunk and began rooting around in the box of odds and ends he kept in the driver’s-side wheel well.  A moment after Sam joined him at the back of the car, Dean came up with what he was looking for: a plastic-laminated ID badge bearing the Hoffman logo and the name Pete Townsend.

And a picture of Dean, hair bleached blond from the sun, wearing a bright red polo shirt and grinning like an ape at the camera.

A little reluctantly, Sam took the badge from his brother and frowned at it.  “What did you sell?”

Dean gnawed thoughtfully at his lower lip.  “Couple sets of headphones and a cell phone charger.”  Then, before Sam could deliver the snark he had lined up at the plate, he added casually, “And a deluxe home theater system.”

I have a few older fics that fit the bill, though mostly they're pre-series. These are all Gen, all short one-shots, and all PG-13 or PG.

First Family - 1984: John and Dean settle some disagreements about responsibilities on the road. 4,600 Words

A Good Visit - 1985: John drops the boys off with Pastor Jim, but Dean fears for the worst when he realizes that they didn't grab...Bunny. 1,900 Words

Sometimes a Day Goes By - 1988: Dean had told Sam that Dad had issued a gag order about Mom. No questions, no discussion: the topic of Mom was completely off-limits Because Dad Said So. But as with so much that Dean told Sam about their family, it was a lie. This is an attempt to reconcile some of the information in A Very Supernatural Christmas and Supernatural: Origins as well as All Hell Breaks Loose, Part II. 2,400 Words

Prompt: rinkle - Something going terribly wrong resulting in a lot of laughter for Dean and John (when Sam's away at Stanford) There isn't anything going wrong here, but there is laughter and I added some mud. :)
Summary: An obstacle course, a bet and two guys playing dirty.

The bolt cutters made swift work of the fence and two figures slipped through it, keeping to the shadow at the edges of the spotlights and moving as one. They moved swiftly across the abandoned army base toward the assault course and the monkey bars. This part of the course was mostly cloaked in darkness and they pulled out flashlights, carefully looking over the wooden contraption and the mud below.
