WELCOME BACK... AGAIN!

As of Tuesday the strike portion of the Writer's Strike is over. Know what that means? That means that the cast and crew of Supernatural will soon be returning to the studio to shoot more episodes for season 3! The only thing more awesome than the cast and crew making more episodes is if they return to a HUGE STACK of postcards welcoming them back, and letting them know how much we are looking forward to the work they are about to create.

All you have to do is buy or make (if you wish) a postcard, write a welcome back message to the cast & crew (if you would like to address them to individual crew members, like Lou, Jason, Julie, and Adrian who posed for pictures for us in December, go right ahead. Just remember that every crew member deserves a little LOVE), put a stamp on it, and drop it in the mail. Nice and easy! Once you have sent your postcard, please respond to the "I sent my postcard, what now?" post with "sent" or something similar; we like to keep a running total of cards to gage community participation. I'll be setting up the post in just a few minutes where you can comment with your "sent" message, and with scans of your homemade or store bought cards if you have access to a scanner/digital camera.

If you would like more information about this campaign or have any questions, just comment to this post or e-mail me at deathisyourart (at) livejournal (dot) com.

Things of note:
1) Sources inside the studio have informed us that they really like funny or original postcards, so we encourage you to buy the funny and/or strange ones, OR make your own cards. Heavy card stock in the dimensions of 4.25"x6" or 6"x8" are treated the same as store bought cards.

2) Please remember to be POLITE and RESPECTFUL; these cards are being sent to a place of business after all.

3) Please do not spray your cards with perfume or send any food items through the mail (if you feel the need to send gifts); some people can have extreme reactions to perfume, and food is never accepted at the studio.

4) To send a postcard from the states into Canada the cost is now 69 cents, and sending postcards within Canada is 52 cents. If you are from a country other than the United States or Canada, please check with your local post-office for prices.

5) If you would like to see pictures of our cards in the studio offices, then check out the following posts:

Yay! :D Maybe this time I'll get around to making a card of my own instead of buying one :-)

Does anyone have any tips for making our own postcards? Or links to tutorials? All the cards I've found around here are L-A-M-E.

That depends... exactly what type of postcard are you thinking of making? The standard ones can be made out of any type of art (a fanart wallpaper, stock images, old photos glued to card stock, etc..)

I thought i'd also pass this idea on because it seems really cool to me.

If you have 4x6 photo paper you can print a picture or some other form of art on it and on the back draw a line down the middle and use the picture like you would with any other postcard.

I think I’m doing all of mine like that!

The starting line is now, since there should be people in the offices this week as they try to get everything running and replace the staff they lost during the strike, and the deadline is still T.B.A.

Hi! I really want to send a card, but I have a few (silly) questions: I'm from Mexico City, and our postal serivice is incredibly lame... I guess there's just SO many people, they take ages doing everything. Anyway, I'm not sure how a postcard will fare there, is it okay if I send the card inside an envelope? and what should my return adress be? (mine, should i mention the community inside the card, or outside?)
Thanks SO much for this community, I think it's an incredible, incredible idea :)
Hugs,
Arlad

Hi back!
1) Sending a postcard or regular card in an envelope is perfectly fine.
2) The return address is your own, and you don't need to mention the community at all; that is completely up to you.

Sent my postcard to the set today...I made this one for images from the show and an astronomy shot . I had to do some touch up on the only shot I had of the Devil's Trap as well, but hopefully it's not too bad. My Paintshop skills are limited to what I can threaten the program to do for me :-)

An image of the postcard here --> http://pics.livejournal.com/noirbabalon/pic/0000hssr/g20
