Now that both Canada Day and the Fourth of July are behind us the cast & crew of Supernatural are back to work and creating Season 5. \o/ That means that it is time to get this community out of hiatus and mailing those postcards again. We can't just let the walls of Supernatural Studios remain blank, now can we?

A number of community members have asked me if we received any pictures of the postcard wall from season 4, and I'm sorry to say that the answer is no. I am unaware of any "bloggers day" for season 4 that would have brought us photos, and the studio didn't send me any either. It is sad for our community; we always love to see our cards on the wall, but sometimes that is just the way the cookie crumbles. Rest assured that when we receive anything of that nature we always link to it, or post about it; pictures are a great motivator and it would do no good to the community for the mods to keep pictures to ourselves. Thanks to comments made by members of the cast, we do know that the cards are still being put on the wall, and that they are truly appreciated by everyone involved!

In case some members of the staff have changed, and new personnel are unaware of what all these cards are all about, we will be sending a letter off to the studio reminding them of what the aim of this community is and who we are. Also, we would appreciate it if some of you could put the community address -- in small letters -- somewhere on your postcard: http://community.livejournal.com/spn_postcards

In case any of you are new to the community, please allow me to explain briefly what this community is all about: We send thank you messages to the cast & crew (specifically the crew; they work longer hours and often receive less praise) of Supernatural for working so hard to give us a show that we all love. We need community members to buy or make a postcard, write a welcome back or thank you message on it, put a stamp on it, and then drop it in the mail. Nice and easy! Once you have sent your postcard, please respond to this post and let us know so that we can gage community participation. If you would also like to comment with scans or pictures of your homemade or store bought cards then please do so; we all like to see what you have bought and/or created for the project.

If you have any questions, just comment to this post or e-mail one of the mods: [info]deathisyourart, [info]phantomas & [info]thirdsouthobbi. The community is now mirrored on Dreamwidth, but we would prefer if comments were left here on livejournal if possible. Thank you!

Things of note:
1) Sources inside the studio have informed us that they really like funny or original postcards, so we encourage you to buy the funny and/or strange ones, OR make your own cards. Heavy card stock in the dimensions of 4.25"x6" or 6"x8" are treated the same as store bought cards.

2) Please remember to be POLITE and RESPECTFUL in both words and pictures on the card; these cards are being sent to a place of business. What is funny in fandom is not the same as what is funny in an office, or at a studio.

3) Please do not spray your cards with perfume or send any food items through the mail (if you feel the need to send gifts); some people can have extreme reactions to perfume, and food is never accepted at the studio.

4) To send a postcard from the states into Canada the cost is now 75 cents*, and sending postcards within Canada is 54 cents*. If you are from a country other than the United States or Canada, please check with your local post-office for prices. *These numbers may change at the discretion of their respective agencies.

5) For members in the United States (I'm not sure if it works for those outside the Continental U.S.) there is a service through the US postal system that allows you to create a postcard online, they will then print and mail it for you for a small fee. The service is called Premium Postcard. If there are similar services in your area, please let us know and we will edit this post to include them.

WELCOME BACK EVERYONE! :D

Last Call for season 4

  • Mar. 1st, 2009 at 8:20 PM

Hello everyone, it has been a while. How are you all doing? I want to express my gratitude for your continuing support of this project, all your hard work this year especially, and my hope that you will all join us again in the summer for the season 5 postcard drive.

Though shooting can sometimes go long the last day of scheduled shooting for season 4 is March 27th, so we would ask that you stop sending postcards to set by the 13th of March. That gives everyone two weeks to get their last cards in for the season. The cast and crew have had a tough year and lost a few of their own, and I'm sure some positivity being sent their way would be more than welcome. Also, a congratulations on the early season 5 pick-up wouldn't hurt either. :D

So, what do you say? One last postcard push for season 4? :D

For anyone new to the community, or for anyone who has forgotten the address, you can find all the information you'll need in the Information post here. Also, if you wish to create your own card instead of buying, but lack the ability to print it properly yourself there is the Premium Postcard Service from the US Postal Service.

Don't forget to comment when you mail out a card so that the mods can thank you properly!

SPP - Season 4 Update - November

  • Nov. 15th, 2008 at 11:50 PM

Hello again everyone! We haven't heard from many of you in quite a while, so how the hell are you doing? If you have sent a postcard or many postcards since we last posted in September then please do remember to leave us a comment and let us know about it; we really want the opportunity to thank you for keeping this campaign going. Also, if you haven't sent a postcard out yet, or have only been sending them to Jared & Jensen, then please consider sending some to the crew as well; they work longer hours than the boys, and don't get nearly enough praise. You can just label the card "To the crew of Supernatural", "To the office staff of Supernatural Studios", or you can look at this picture post and see who was nice enough to pose in the pictures we received last season and address it to them.

Since the holiday season is quickly approaching please be aware that anything mailed after December 5th probably will not make it in time. The last I heard filming was suppose to continue until the 16th, but the post office gets really busy the closer it gets to December 25th. If you are international then you should send cards out even earlier than the 5th.

For anyone new to the community, you can find the address in the Information post.

Note: If you wish to create your own card instead of buying, but lack the ability to print it properly yourself there is the Premium Postcard Service from the US Postal Service.

You guys are total love <3

  • Sep. 30th, 2008 at 1:57 AM
Hi, guys! I honestly can't remember the last time I posted in here, but for those of you who don't know me, I'm the other mod :)

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for all the cards you guys have sent out since we started this thing almost two years ago. I got to see Jared yesterday at Eyecon and I asked him about how many cards they've received total and he said, "Over a thousand." And that's all because of you guys sending in the cards and helping us get the word out to communities outside of LJ, like on the CW Lounge and other message boards elsewhere online. So, thank you guys so much for sending all of those cards! This little project grew way beyond what [info]phantomas and I had anticipated when the idea first came up and even more after [info]deathisyourart came on board, and it's all because of you guys.

So, yeah, please send more cards! All the info you need to send a card is in this post. Please, even if all you write on it is 'thank you for what you do', send a card! It doesn't take much and they really do get a kick out of this! Especially with the new season starting, we have a lot to be thankful for them. We all enjoy the show, so let's make sure they know that and that we're grateful for what they do to bring it to our screens every week! Postage isn't that much and most postcards are less than $1, or you can make your own like I know some of you guys do.

Thanks again, guys!

SPP Season 4 Update - September

  • Sep. 19th, 2008 at 6:00 PM

So, have you all seen and recovered from the 4th season premiere? I'll give you a moment to stop fangirling-out... Done now? How about now? Look, we don't have all day, just let me get this out of the way and you can go back to bouncing around the room, okay?

According to the comments we have received, the members of this community have sent just over 100 postcards to the cast & crew of Supernatural since they began shooting season 4. You are all AWESOME! However, after last night's kick ass season premiere, I feel it is my duty as mod to encourage you all to send even more love and praise to those that work so hard to bring us OUR SHOW. That's right, I am asking you to send more postcards. LOTS MORE!!! Enough postcards to justify the P.A.'s working 16 hour days, in the rain and snow, for crap pay, while wearing a very unflattering orange reflector vest.

Please don't forget to comment when you send a postcard, I know that I am behind on thanking people, but we really do appreciate your efforts, and would like to know when people are participating in this campaign.

Also, thank you to everyone who has promoted the community and our campaign! We see you getting the word out, and it brings a smile to our faces knowing that so many people are enjoying the postcard project. :)

Information about the project, including the posting address can be found here: Address & Info post

Promotional Banners can be found here: Promotion post

Please do not post spoilers in the comments. Thank you!

SPP: Have You Sent Mail?

  • Aug. 22nd, 2008 at 5:42 AM
Supernatural Postcard Project Update:
Approximately 50 cards have been sent thus far -- many of them by [info]bloggingchick -- according to the comments we have received, and that is not a bad start to the year, but what we really need is MORE! See, nice and simple. MORE!

If you have sent a card and have not let us know about it then please do; we would like the opportunity to thank you for participating, and we also like to have an idea about the number of cards we are sending and that should end up on THE WALL.

If you are new to this community then the information you need in order to participate in this project can be found at this post. If you still have any questions about this project, or want to know what the heck THE WALL is, then please ask in comments and I will do my best to answer.

Also, to those that feel inclined to help us out, we could use some pimping wherever you may roam. A few modest banners can be found below the cut if you would like to use them to promote the community. You can upload them to your own scrapbook/flickr/photobucket account, or just copy the text in the box below them. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Season 4 Postcard Drive

  • Jul. 2nd, 2008 at 5:37 PM
It was just over two months ago that the crew of Supernatural Studios sent us photos of the season 3 postcard wall before it was packed up for the summer, and now everyone is back to shoot season 4 with a BLANK WALL that needs filling up. That is where we the fans come in. :D

Welcome to the first postcard drive of the season! We need community members to buy or make a postcard, write a welcome back message to the cast & crew (if you would like to address them to individual crew members, like Lou, Jason, Julie, Cyrus, Jocelyn, Lee Ann, Mary Ann, Liz, and Adrian who have posed for pictures for us in the past, go right ahead. Just remember that every crew member deserves a little LOVE), put a stamp on it, and drop it in the mail.

I return with gifts! Oh... and I apologize for being an absent moderator lately, school kind of ate me alive. Thank you to everyone who sent postcards to the cast & crew of Supernatural this season! [info]thirdsouthobbi, [info]phantomas, and I truly appreciate your enthusiasm and participation in this project.

If you still have postcards that you have either bought or made please hold on to them until production begins on season 4 (when we can confirm the date we will let you all know).

Below the cut you will find all new pictures of the completed postcard wall for season 3 that we were sent to us this evening. There are MANY! 11 of JUST the postcard wall, as well as pictures of the crew pointing out their favourites. Comment and let us know where you see your postcard, or if you would like to leave a thank you for the AMAZING FRIEND who once again provided us with pictures! :D

Let's crank it up, one last time!

  • Apr. 17th, 2008 at 10:04 AM

w000t, hey guys! The CW has made an early announcement, and Supernatural is GOOD for Season 4!!

Check it out!!! The Futon Cricic - Seat42f - The CW Source

So let's POUR those postcards to them! WE LOVE YOU, GUYS!!!!

From Burnaby with love!

  • Feb. 29th, 2008 at 5:14 PM
Hey all!

I hope it's okay to post this here, but I wanted to share a snippet of news! Today I called up to the SPN offices in Burnaby, and lo! Somebody answered. :D Absolutely the nicest man ever in the history of ever.

Anyhow, I was just checking to see who was there, and ended up having a nice little chat. When I mentioned fans sending postcards to welcome the cast and crew back, he gleefully said, "Bring it on!" Hee!

He mentioned the wall covered with past fan postcards, and promised that in a couple months, they'll take pictures again of all the new ones and send them to "a fan site". (I didn't ask, figure they've got their contacts. *g*) And he also said they know of all the fan efforts to support and promote SPN, and "we love you for it", and for fans to keep doing what we're doing to "keep us on the air".

So! I so enjoyed talking to this guy, just a bouyant, expansive personality who fairly radiated love for us fans, and I thought you'd like to know that we are loved, appreaciated, and the SPN folks are eagerly awaiting our postcards. Let's do it, and tell all our friends, too! *G*
Cheers ~

Erin

I sent my postcard. What now?

  • Feb. 14th, 2008 at 12:42 PM
So you might be asking yourself: What do I do now that I have sent a postcard to the cast & crew? We suggest that you follow these three steps:

1) Tell us that you sent your postcard(s) by replying to this post with "sent!" or something similar, so that we [the mods] can thank you for participating, and keep a running total of how many cards are being sent to the set.

2) If you are able, upload a picture or scan of your card so that everyone can see it, and we can look for it once pictures of the wall make their way to the community.

3) Sit back and bask in the awesomness that is YOU! You really are quite awesome! \o/

THINGS OF NOTE:
A) Please, do not reply to this post with what you PLAN to send. Only reply here AFTER your card is in the mail!

B) Please do not reply to this post with questions or general comments about the community or this campaign. All comments and questions should be in reply to the information post that you can find here, or sent to me via e-mail at deathisyourart (at) livejournal (dot) com.

WELCOME BACK... AGAIN!

As of Tuesday the strike portion of the Writer's Strike is over. Know what that means? That means that the cast and crew of Supernatural will soon be returning to the studio to shoot more episodes for season 3! The only thing more awesome than the cast and crew making more episodes is if they return to a HUGE STACK of postcards welcoming them back, and letting them know how much we are looking forward to the work they are about to create.

All you have to do is buy or make (if you wish) a postcard, write a welcome back message to the cast & crew (if you would like to address them to individual crew members, like Lou, Jason, Julie, and Adrian who posed for pictures for us in December, go right ahead. Just remember that every crew member deserves a little LOVE), put a stamp on it, and drop it in the mail. Nice and easy! Once you have sent your postcard, please respond to the "I sent my postcard, what now?" post with "sent" or something similar; we like to keep a running total of cards to gage community participation. I'll be setting up the post in just a few minutes where you can comment with your "sent" message, and with scans of your homemade or store bought cards if you have access to a scanner/digital camera.

If you would like more information about this campaign or have any questions, just comment to this post or e-mail me at deathisyourart (at) livejournal (dot) com.

Welcome Back postcards?

  • Feb. 14th, 2008 at 11:18 AM
Okay, IF the strike is effectively over (it looks as if it is, but you never know, I think they still have to sign the deal officially?)..anyway, if it is over and everyone is back to work, how about sending Welcome Back/We Missed You/Glad You've Got Your Job Back postcards to the cast and crew in Vancouver?

Mods? What do you think?
Thanks to a truly AMAZING friend to this community, we have updated (Taken this evening) pictures of the postcard wall that you all helped create at the Supernatural Studios.

That is some funky wallpaper )

ETA: A picture of SUPER LOU the stunt coordinator has been added to the post. Also, there isn't actually a "super" in front of his name, I just thought that it sounded cute.

The count according to the comments we have received here at the community is 204 postcards sent to the set this round. \o/ For everyone who sent a card -- whether store bought or homemade -- THANK YOU!!!! You are all awesome.

If you have not sent a postcard to set but would like to, or if you have more postcards to send, please wait until after the writers' strike is over and the crew is back on set. If you send a card now then there will be no one in the office to receive it. However, if in a fit of Christmas card frenzy you absolutely MUST send more cards to someone, then send one to the AMPTP and tell them to give the writers' a fair deal so everyone can get back to work on OUR SHOW! You can find the address in this post.

If you find your card on the wall in these pictures then let us know, and if you would like to leave a thank you to the AMAZING friend who gave us these pictures, then I will make sure that they get them.

- Please link back to this community instead of re-posting these pictures. It helps us keep the questions of source to a minimum and helps us gain new members who will send cards next round. Thank you!

SPP - Last Reminder & Some Thank Yous

  • Nov. 19th, 2007 at 7:28 PM

If you are sending postcards to the set as a thank you, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, or as a sign of support to the crew, you need to send your cards THIS WEEK!

Didn't I just say that last week? :P According to multiple sources the cast & crew will be on set until December 5th. Just to be on the safe side, all postcards should be posted no later than Friday, November 23rd. Please hold on to any cards that you buy or create after that date for when the strike is over and everyone is back on set. Thank you!

Round 2 of the season 3 postcard campaign is up to
\0/ 148 postcards \0/

THANK YOU:
A very special thank you to [info]stormjpad who mailed out 56 postcards that attendees at Creation con, and members of this community filled out. She is either independently wealthy, or insane, but either way you should say "thank you" if you benefited from her kindness. You can thank her here in comments if you like, or just pop on over to her LJ and leave a thank you there. We are all about the thank yous in this comm!

CREATION CON:
For those of you that went to Creation Con, and met my co-mod [info]thirdsouthobbi (that's right, it was HER, not ME! I am too broke to con.), come and say "hi" or wave to her in comments. :D

SPP - Important Reminder

  • Nov. 10th, 2007 at 12:45 PM

If you are sending postcards to the set as a thank you, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, or as a sign of support to the crew, you need to send your cards THIS NEXT WEEK!

[info]devidarkwolf has posted an account of her meeting with Kripke at the WGA strike, and according to Kripke the cast and crew are shooting episode 11 right now, and only have a completed script for episode 12, not beyond! With each episode taking 8 days to shoot, and the assumption that they are right in the middle of episode 11, the crew has roughly 12 business days of work left before they take a very early Christmas break.

Please don't forget to tell us IN THIS POST once you have sent your postcard, and upload a scan or picture if you feel like sharing.

If you are looking for information on sending a postcard to set then you can find it at this post.

This is the FINAL CALL for names for my letter to Jensen and Jared for the con! I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon, after work, for the con, so that'll be my last chance to get any last-minute names on the list and print it out.

If you haven't given me your info by now, please drop it in a comment over here!

What is Next for Us?

  • Nov. 8th, 2007 at 10:55 PM
Okay, here is the situation people. The reason I have been holding off on starting the next campaign targeting the advertisers is that with the Writer Guild Strike all advertisers will be concerned with is seeing a return on their investment, and dealing with the fact that they paid for their commercials to air during a certain number of episodes that may or may not be airing. Sending them letters and cards about how we appreciate their support of a specific show is not going to make a real impact at this time when that series' season might be cut short due to the strike.

Currently, I believe that in order to support the show we should let both the writers, and the cast & crew -- some of which may be facing unemployment if the writers strike continues after the Christmas holiday -- know that we support them, and appreciate everything that they do to make Supernatural the show that it is. The sooner this strike ends, the sooner the writers, cast & crew can get back on a regular work schedule.

An article on the fate of the B.C. film industry work force due to the strike can be found here.

If you need more information on why the Writer's Strike is so important, then I would suggest starting with the [info]wga_supporters community, which will link you to a wealth of information. And if you are looking for more ways to help the writers, you can visit fans4writers.com to find out how.

Under the following cut you will find addresses for the Supernatural Studios, where you can send your support and thanks to the crew in what has to be a very stressful time for them. You will also find the address for Dawn Ostroff at the CW Network, as well as the addresses in New York and Los Angeles for Warner Brothers, to let them know that we want scripted programming not more reality television, and that we stand by the writers. Lastly, the addresses at which you can write to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers directly to tell them that you support the writers.

When writing to the CW, the WB or the AMPTP, please remember to be polite, include your full name, and your location if you feel comfortable doing so.

For the Addresses, please click here )

Also, I would appreciate it if those who have been sending me the lists of advertisers would continue to do so, and we can revisit this campaign in the new year, or once the writer's strike is over, which ever comes first.
