I wrote a bit about characterization in the end of season 4 and the ambiguity of good and evil in the Supernatural universe in my journal.

Hi All,

I am looking for a meta I read around the time of the finale.
It was basically a meta about how Sam is selfish .. I remember I could not finish it, but I wanted to and I cant find it :(

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone! I'm on a quest for meta about how the show relates to the horror/slasher genres. If anyone is willing to point me in the right direction(s), I'd be much obliged! :)
26th-Jun-2009 09:17 pm - So, a meta-ey question...
I'm feeling somewhat low on Supernatural these days, so have been watching the first 3 seasons to get my fix and that's spawned a question in my head that I'd really like answered.

Since we now know the angels thought Dean would be able to see their true form and hear their true voices, does that have anything to do with the fact that the Winchester boys can see ghosts when no one else can? Would it be connected to blood? To the past generations of hunters that make up their family or what??

We see them talking to ghosts, interacting with them all through the seasons and they're the only ones who can see them, but we're never told outright that the brothers have supernatural abilities outside of Sam's telekinesis/psychic thing... So how is it that they can see these spirits and interact with them, manipulate them and/or get manipulated by them?

Oh and also, what's up with having Sam say to Dean in Folsom that he's worried about how well he fits into prison life and then we have Zach in Terrible Life putting him in corporate office life and he fits right in, there, too. Is it meant to show us that he'll fit into anything because he's a reactive personality and simply acts on what's around him? Whereas Sam's only ever told he's scarily good at being a fed and he SO does not fit into corporate life in Terrible Life. I wonder if that means that Dean would actually be the more likely to have a different life than hunting things, saving people and Sam's the one meant for the hunting life? He's the one pushing Dean into hunting in Terrible Life, he's the one spellbound by the Facers videos while Dean's reluctant, but reacts to the situation as always and likes the excitement as soon as he finds his sea legs, but he would've still gone back to corporate life and would've forgotten all about Sam afterward. At least that's my thought.

I can't wait for the new season to begin...

SPN, impala
While watching the summer reruns, I've come across an unexpected connection between the early episodes of season four and the final scene of the season.

Spoilers through season four but not beyond. I'm still viewing what we've seen with unconventional cracked speculation goggles, however, so read when you're in the mood for some of that.  I'm hoping for others to contribute voices of reason.

I've posted some thoughts about S2 and S4 as well as hunting as the performance of family connection.
We're So Screwed - SPN
Growing out of a comment I made to a post by [info]ginzai, I wrote a long (and I do mean long, like ridiculously long) meta on, well, essentially Sam’s choices and how Dean’s weren’t necessarily better ones. And that basically both boys were screwed all along, I guess.

You can read it here. I’m not sure it’s as clear as it could be, but I seem to be unable to whittle it down, so... there are my thoughts. I won’t be offended if you don’t feel like reading it all!
