Yes!

I found a stuffed kinkajou at Value village and I FREAKED out, it didn't even have a tag and I knew what it was! I had to take it home to find out.

Best $6 ever spent.

It's not a kinkajou, it's a baby brushtail possum.

I'm pretty sure it's a possum. I always get circus music stuck in my head when I see them walking along the power lines. It's so funny. ^_^

And by possum I mean an Australian possum. Not the ones that look like vicious giant rats.

Ah, I was about to say... that's definitely not a(n American) possum, at least not the kind I've seen around the southeast. Those are fuller through the midsection and aren't as cute.

The American ones are opossums; the Australian ones are possums.

I didn't know that. I had always learned the terms were interchangeable.

Yup, officially there is a difference although Americans often refer to theirs as 'possums (dropping the o); technically the O makes the difference--one of many tidbits I learned when I studied mammalogy.

That's neat. I had to check that people had that on Wikipedia . . . and they do.

I don't think it's a kinkajou...don't they have rounded ears?

Definately a Brushtail. we've got a family of them that live in our roof which is always great fun when you hear the "Holy shit someone's trying to break into the house at 3 am" noises as they crawl about in there.

I seem to have sparked a very slight debate. :P

But consensus seems to be that it's an Australian Brushtail Possum.

Is it just me, or is everything in Australia either adorable, or horribly poisonous, or both? :P \
