SpinDizzy Meal at AC '09 - Some Requests
    Greetings fellow Spindizzians,

As Anthrocon quickly approaches I wanted to see if folks would be up for some requests I have.

First and foremost if you'd like us to give you a call during the meal (giving everyone a chance to at least meet through phone) please message me with a name, a number (international okay) and dates and times it is fair to call.

Second for artists, I am asking if someone would be kind enough to do a sketch with SD inhabitants or something SDish that allows me to put in a day and time and a phone number to be reached to help coordinate for those that will be at the con. Of course I have deadline of Monday so I can print it to a laser printer, but it can be color.

You can also message me here or mail Lou on SD for additional details!

    Thanks for your time!

    +Description:
If I haven't mis-read the scheduled airdates guide, this Friday is to be the season finale for The Price Is Right. You may be aware that occasionally a gang gets together in the Mystery Science Theater to watch the show; well, here's advance warning. If you can Tivo, or tape, or record the Friday-airing episode of The Price Is Right, or watch the online feed from

    http://www.cbs.com/daytime/the_price_is_right//

then please join us sometime after 8 pm muck time on Friday, 26 June. (The timing has to be imprecise, as several of the participants may or may not be getting in late.)

    29} Morticon Yesterday [9] -- Argon
    From: Morticon 08:18:38 06/20/09 PDT

As many of you have noticed, Argon has been missing for the past month. It turns out Argon had a stroke, which is why he was unable to let us know something happened. Given what they've seen so far, doctors think he'll recover quite well. Unfortunately, he won't be able to use a computer for at least a few more months.

There is, at this time, no way to offer get well cards or any other form of communication; if I find out anything concerning this, I'll be sure to do a follow up post.

The best we can do right now is be patient and hope for a speedy recovery. Also, if you know of other places that Argon frequents, please be sure to let his friends know of his situation to ease their worries and fears.

He's got plastic flowers growing up the walls

It's another Friday night, so let's make it another Mystery Science Theater 3000 night. So we'll gather in the theater (luge N10 W5; t) at 8 pm muck time (Pacific Time) and watch at a minimum the DuPont industrial short Mylar: What's It To You?

This short may be downloaded ahead of time from archive.org at http://www.archive.org/details/WhatsItt1955 and http://www.archive.org/details/WhatsItt1955_2

And as a chaser, the recently iRiffTraxx'ed spectacular Make Mine Freedom, available at http://www.archive.org/details/MakeMine1948

As archive.org features they can be downloaded ahead of time or just buffered early. History suggests there will be other short subjects suggested by people at the event, however, so being ready with bandwidth is not a bad idea. We will try to give early warning for any further downloads.

Also, please don't forget Mayor Beltrami's suggestion that people vote for the winners of Festival of Cuteness ribbons. She hasn't said when the voting period will end, but that would be out of character for her.

Yes, we'll walk up the Avenue till we're there

Please don't forget, all day the 16th is the Festival of Cuteness. The mayor promises that from 7 pm muck time (10 pm Eastern, 7 pm Pacific) there'll be a gathering to show off ``cute morphs, clothes, accessories, and performances'', so have your chance to show things off ready. It's to be in the park, hopefully a cute one. All are welcome to attend.

Those allergic to too much cuteness may wish to bring eye, ear, or snuggle protection. This could also be a lucrative merchandising opportunity.

In June, July, and August we look cute when we're dressed in shorts

    From the Mayor's Office:

    Celebrate!

Spindizzy is to enjoy its first Festival Of Cuteness on Tuesday June 16th. All day citizens are encouraged to show off cute morphs, clothes, accessories, and performances with a celebration to begin in the park at 7 pm.

Persons who wish to be judges, to award the cutest of each category ribbons of merit, please apply to the Mayor that they may be present when the celebration begins.

Please also bring out spontaneous events in the rest of the day: anything liable to bring an enthusiastic grin to the audience's face is what we need. Surprise and cuten the world!

We're coming up on a fresh Friday: why not hold a fresh MiSTing night? We'll get together in the Mystery Science Theater (luge N10 W5; t), and watch some sort of video through YouTube or archive.org or the like, and make fun of it as the video unfolds, all the while wondering if it's possible to get ourselves in synch again. No inventions necessary.

The archive.org and youtube.com videos can be downloaded or buffered ahead of time. I'm not sure above the marvel.com. one.

For a start, at [info]patchoblack's nomination, the episode ``City Of The Ancient Ones'' from Blackstar:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtN9wsigggA
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxEmtPHiExA

Next up a piece from the Prelinger archives, Snap Out Of It!

    http://www.archive.org/details/SnapOuto1951

And then wrap up with an episode of Spider-Man featuring, fresh off his remarkably inept appearance in the daily comic strip, Electro:

    http://www.marvel.com/videos/681.Spider-Man_1967_Episode_07

And remember: there's usually appetite for more of these once we've got started, so if you've seen a video that's liable to work well, find the URL and bring it along.

It's time for a fresh MiSTing night, if that's OK. I'd like to set it for Friday night at 8 pm muck time (Pacific), 11 pm Eastern, and set to run for about an hour. It'll be in the Mystery Science Theater, at 'luge n10 w5' and 't'; no inventions need to be exchanged.

We'll start off with the debut episode of the short-lived cartoon series TigerSharks, which can be found on YouTube and should particularly appeal to all the cetacean and aquatic critters out there:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UP3Sup60wY
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grTz_7qZWyo

And then close things off with the aptly titled Snookum Bears On A Rampage:

I strongly recommend loading the videos ahead of time so that when we do start playing simultaneously there isn't the need to worry about bandwidth or the inevitable server glitches.

    Slot Machines Open at Casino
slot machine McRat McWalleton, owner of Cash Creek Casino, announced today the addition of new slot machines to the establishment. "We're very pleased," he told reporters. "They're very shiny! We feel they will have great appeal to our raccoon fanbase."

The casino isn't new to games: it already hosts such favorites as Boggle, Cribbage, Yahtzi, and the ever-favorite Whomp-a-Rat, this latest addition, McWalleton says, "takes the cake." He adds, "I'll finally be able to buy that new Rolls Royce!"

The slot machines were created and coded by SpinDizzy's own Ari, who may or may not also have been seen rolling around in a new Rolls Royce.

Cash Creek Casino is located just off the Street of Lights, at N2 W2 on the 'map.' Or, 'luge n2 w2,' 'sw,' then 'c.'

    When I'm Sixty-Four

By the way, those of you who enjoy game shows might care to know that I was planning to have a little viewing party for Thursday's episode of The Price Is Right sometime Thursday night. That'll most likely be between 7 pm and 9 pm muck (Pacific) Time, in the Mystery Science Theater (N10 W5; t).

In the past we've had success with people who recorded the show on their Tivo or equivalent program, or who watched online at cbs.com, and it's resulted in high comedy as we try to synchronize things like whether we want to skip the ``Closed captioning for The Price Is Right is paid for by ... '' stuff, which we never get all consistent.
