10:21 pm - Notice to 1998 Graduating Students

drachenstein
Although the journal project started in 1997 as a school project a number of graduating students in June 97 retained their journals and continued to use them as a way of interacting with their fellow students.

The interface which allows for secure journals remains in place so they can continue to be used as a way for you to interact with your fellow students.

However, you may wish to use the community SPHNet, which is geared to the alumni journals, as a noticeboard.

To: Bureau 13 Ministry of Magic

From: Temporal Ministry. Ministry of Magic.

Greetings.

A Transgression has occurred.

Agent ZZ9PZA and her counterpart are currently situated within the same temporal arena and have both been acknowledge by persons important to The Plan.

Due to the forthcoming events it is too dangerous to attempt a temporal feedback loop to recover the situation.

Therefor it has been decided to allow the duel time lines to merge.

Please dispatch agents to the attached location at the stated time to collect the pre-arcadia.

It would be best if Agent ZZ9PZA was not aware of the situation. Please arrange for those involved to be informed.

Yours.

H. G. Wells.
Head of Temporal Ministry of Magic.

The event that shall be held on Saturday will need a number of chaperones. Professor Drachenstein is already committed to the task as she is in charge of negotiating with the muggle owners of the manor house.

Any other takers?

4:13 pm - Put an End to Rumour

drachenstein
There has been some talk about an end of year party for our 1998 graduating class and I am happy to announce that the faculty have indeed decided to do this. Some of the younger students may also be invited though if they are not of age they will need parental approval.

The event is not compulsory and if you elect to attend it will mean delaying your going home for an extra day or so. The event will be chaperoned.

It will be held outside of Hogwarts and the Hogsmeade vicinity but at a very nice location. Currently a secret location for security purposes and it will allow you to celebrate and party as well as say proper goodbyes to your classmates. We intent to book the premises for Saturday the 26th and Sunday 27th June.

Naturally we hope that HEX might agree to contribute some live music though we shall make arrangements for a sound system and DJ as well.

If they are willing I should like to invite Miss Lavender Brown and Miss Parvati Patil to head the Saturday Night Party Committee. I would hope they would recruit some other students to assist them.

1:11 pm - The Contents of a Letter

First off my deepest apologies. This letter seems to have been overlooked but I believe it gives some indication of Miss Radan's state of mind. The translation I have given below omits a personal message to me.

Dear Marcus,

[missing personal paragraph]

Please send these messages.

Mamma, Papa, Damian and Benedicta - I will love you always. I am sorry. Please remember your little girl.

Penny, Percy, Jake, Rose, Contzel, Seth and Justin - I am sorry. Trust me. It is better this way.

Piotr and Irma - I am sorry. I had no choice but to leave. I hope you understand.

Mme. Pomfrey and the Professors - thank you for everything.

I want you all to be happy. Do not mourn for me. I am well.

I will miss you all. Remember me always.

Marcus. Take the ring to my brother, he will explain their purpose.

Your friend,
Isodora

I assume that her brother Damian has access to this message. I shall indeed speak to him about the ring. Was one meant to be enclosed?

5:58 am - Scene :: Nick, Ben & Jake in the Infirmary

jakesword
The ceiling was vaguely familiar, a memory from bygone years.

When Nicholas Wu realised that it was the whitewashed ceiling of a modern English building instead of an ancient Chinese one, he bolted upright in bed. He was home! But where was he?

Privacy curtains around the bed. That nightstand. Early morning sunlight streaming through a window beyond the curtains. Light snoring coming from somewhere nearby. He knew this place.

Nick put his feet to the floor. His feet. He was unashamedly giddy with joy to be back, yet it felt strange to be back in his own skin. It took him ages to get used to a much smaller female body. He was sure he'd continue to walk around daintily for a while.

He swept aside the curtain and found Jake Darrow slumped in an armchair just outside, snoring quietly, with an open book facedown on his stomach. They were in the Hogwarts hospital wing. Yep, Nick knew the place.

"Hey." He patted Jake on the shoulder. "Wake up, Rumplestiltskin."

The boy woke up with a start and stared up at him, almost instantly alert. "Nick?"

"Yes." Nick paused, realising that he just spoke in Chinese. "Yes, Jake. It's me. I'm back."

A look of relief flooded Jake's face as he sat up properly. "Thank goodness." he said. "One thing less to worry about. One thing back to normal."

"What? You mean things are ever normal here? I'm in Hogwarts, aren't I?"

"Yes. Good point."

The curtain of the cubicle next to Nick's parted as well and a face looked out. "Big brother?"

"Benben! You're here too!"

Ben Wu's face was the colour of ash. "I am so sorry."

Nick squinted at him. "Why?" He sat back down on his bed carefully.

"I sent the bloody thing to you. Something that did this to us. It was Macmillian's cheesecake, wasn't it? Jake?"

Jake nodded. "Yes, it was."

"You didn't know." Said Nick lightly. "Although to be fair, you should have been the one who had to be the girl."

"I was an 80 year old man! They thought I had gone off the deep end!"

"Holy shit. Riley! Riley ate Drew's cake!"

Jake hushed them before their voices woke anyone else up. "Get back into bed. I'll let Madame Pomfrey know you're awake and yourselves." He said. "Riley is fine. She's in the castle too. You can see her later."

"What's the date?" Ben asked suddenly.

"It's the third of June."

There was a dead pause before Ben said something rather violent in Chinese, or at least, Jake thought it sounded violent.

Nick stared across the gulf between their beds with an expression of disbelief. "Very nice, Ben. I feel completely at home now that I'm among people who actually swear." He paused. "In a language I didn't learn until recently."

"The NEWTs! I haven't studied! I miss more classes than I.... ARRGH!"

It was at that moment when Nick spotted the letter on the nightstand, addressed to him.

8:51 am - Anouncement

prof_s_snape
Further to my announcement at breakfast this morning I have received confirmation that the antidote was successful.

Therefore, those who remain out of time please should report to the Infirmary to have the antidote administered by Madame Pomfrey.

Be aware you will feel a little drowsy and will fall asleep. This is perfectly natural as it is during deep REM that the antidote will effect the change.

9:44 am - [Public Notice - Request for Information]

radanic
As some of you may have observed, Miss Radan is missing. According to reliable sources, she has not been seen since her attendance at a celebration of some sort at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. At this point in time it is uncertain whether Miss Radan did in fact return to the school after the celebration.

Her brother, Damian Radan, has requested that any information that may be relevant to his sister's disappearance would be greatly appreciated. Students with any such information should approach Mr. Radan himself or a member of the faculty.

Mr. Radan will be staying in his sister's room and has kindly offered to temporarily perform her duties in the library.

Sincerely,
Irma Pince

11:51 pm - Saturday Quidditch Result

albus_bumblebee
Well another excellent game from both Ravenclaw and Slytherin. However, there can only be one winner and Mr. Draco Malfoy successfully caught the snitch giving a result of 210 points to Slytherin and 120 points to Ravenclaw.

Thus, Slytherin has won the Quidditch Cup for 1997/1998 academic year.

Congratulations to both Houses for playing a superb game.

7:28 pm - The Post Quidditch Party

radanic
It was 7.30pm and the three Radans - the Rabid Radans - were setting up the stage. Damian whistled while he helped to heft things around. Benedicta moved from each instrument, methodically testing for volume and pitch. Isodora frantically moved around the stage, pulling cables out of the way in a very agitated manner.

"Doe, relax," Benedicta said after Isodora squeaked in anguish for the seventh time. "What are you so nervous about anyway?"

"Maaarcuuus," Damian intoned before Isodora could answer.

"Shut up!" Isodora shot at her brother. Benedicta and Damian snickered. Seeing the kid sister having a mini-anxiety attack was always lots of fun, especially when she had no intention of hitting them.

"So," Damian said. "Who's this Contzel who's singing support for More Than Words?"

"Oh, she's Snape's TA. I think she's German, used to work at Durmstrang or something," Benedicta said. Isodora looked at her sister, puzzled that she had known. Benedicta smiled, "It's a TA thing. There. We're all set. Now all we need are at least three people and a lot of drinks."

"Three?" Isodora asked, incredulously.

"Three's a crowd, isn't it?"

10:27 am - Ancestor Regression Potion: Warded to Staff

prof_s_snape
As you are aware we have not as yet successfully restored all those students and others who were dispossessed of their current time and place by an ancestor.

In respect of a successful antidote, as no original potion remained to work from we have had to work cautiously, checking and re-checking the formulations. In addition, it is a potion that has required maturation time.

As one of those effected by the original potion was a canine, it has been agreed that it shall serve as the test subject for the antidote. The animal is being collected by a Mr. Holmes and we may look to a resolution of this matter in the near future.

Whether those students who have now lost what amounts to six weeks of work will need some special dispensation in terms of their NEWTS is something that shall need to be considered once all have been retrieved.

Filius, Jake Darrow has requested I speak to you about permission for Ben Wu or rather Wu Bai be allowed to remain in Hogsmeade to serve as companion for his brother who is currently inhabited by an ancestor named Mei.

8:00 pm - The long-awaited Cinqo de Mayo fiesta

__pparkinson
Pansy Parkinson had left school grounds early to go down to Hogsmeade and rent a room at the Three Broomsticks for her Cinqo de Mayo party.

She had decorated the room in bright green and red and white, with bright lights and a pinata hanging from the ceiling. There were small tables against one wall and a bar against the other. There was also a small table with nachos and salsa for people to munch on.

Pansy was, after all, the party queen.

She had hired a Mariachi band to play, but they hadn't arrived yet. She had thought about bringing her own guitar but had decided to leave it. Too much of a hassle, and she wouldn't want others asking to play.

She now sat at the bar, sipping a Margarita. They weren't her favorite drink, but in the Mexican spirit she felt it was approprite.

The Mariachi band arrived after a short while. She showed them where to put their cases and where to set up, but they wouldn't begin playing until everyone had arrived.

Pansy sat at the bar, chatting with the guitar player of the band and sipping her drink, and waiting for her peers to show up.

12:31 am - The Badger's Eye on Hogwarts - Issue 32 (5th - 11th April 1998)

the_badgers_eye
Welcome to the 32nd issue of The Badger's Eye on Hogwarts for 1997/98 School Year

It was a holiday week as we were off for Easter. There were still some public posts on the project.

We also know in retrospect that some students were swapped in time and space with an ancestor during the week before Easter holiday began. The project was delighted to see this post from Justin. Quite a lot of comments are recorded though only a few of them visible. I guess people wanted to say welcome back in private. Justin did not wish to talk about his experience and really folk should have respected that.

Dean Thomas has unveiled the poster for the upcoming exhibit Old Brooms, New Tricks. We await further news.

On Sunday the Contesse hosts an Easter event for those students and staff at the school for the holidays. Events include eggs with messages of ancient wisdom.

12:20 am - [Public - Important Library Notice]

radanic
The library's opening hours have been extended slightly, in view of the coming exams.

The new library hours are:

Mondays to Thursdays - 8.30am to 9.30pm
Fridays - 8.30am to 10.30pm
Saturdays - 10.30am to 10.30pm
Sundays - 10.30am to 9.30pm

The library will still remain closed during mealtimes.

Students in exam years may ask for a special pass if they wish to study in the library outside these hours or during mealtimes. These passes may be acquired from Madam Pince or myself and have the following conditions attached to them:

  • the earliest we will open the library is 7.30am, and you will have to inform us the day before. You will be given a pass-key that you will have to return when either Madam Pince or myself enter the library at 8.15am.

  • the latest we will keep the library open is midnight. If you wish to stay until that time, you will not only have to inform us the day before, but you will also need a hall-pass from your Head of House that you will use to prove to Mr. Filch that you are out of your dorms with permission. You will also be given a pass-key if required.

  • students will be granted a maximum of two hours extra-time per day (inclusive of meal times).

  • no check-outs are to be made outside official library hours. Holdings are fine, however, and you may pick up any books placed on hold during official library hours.

  • responsibility for any damages in the library are to be born by the students present at the time of the incident, except in cases where the circumstances were beyond the control of the students (the recent Boggart incident is an example).

As always, the library would be very happy to receive student volunteers, although if you are due to take your OWLs or NEWTs this year you'll have to have a note from your Head of House stating that such voluntary activities will not negatively affect your studies.

Dutifully,
Isodora C. Radan
Assistant Librarian
