Even though it's in Philly, this event has a TON of South Jersey Filmmakers - check out the writeups in the S. Jersey Courier Post!

Ritz Actors get featured in Project Twenty1 Film Fest
South Jersey Face: Doug Siedel Premieres Film @ Project Twenty1

Here is the general info:

Project Twenty1 Film & Animation Festival (P21Fest)
October 1-4, 2009, All-Day
University City Area, Philadelphia

P21Fest is a celebration of independent film and animation in Philadelphia hosted by Project Twenty1, a volunteer-run arts organization dedicated to inspiring, connecting, exhibiting, and promoting artists from all disciplines. The festival opens with the one-time-only Philadelphia Premiere of "You Might As Well Live" (October 1 @ 7:30 pm) , an off-the-wall comedy where Robert R. Mutt embarks on a madcap adventure to attain the three keys to being a "somebody" - a girl, some money and a championship ring.

Over 50 films will screen over the 4-Day festival, including the 21-Day Filmmaking Competition films, a collection of animated & live action shorts from all over the world based on the common secret element "Key". P21Fest will also host educational workshops, including Pitch Yourself!, a seminar to teach you pitching dos and don't, along with “Speed Networking” (a business card swap similar to the style of speed dating, but more productive)

And if you're into parties, you can't miss “Shorts and Shots” (an open-mic-style casual screening you can BYOShort!) and Friday Night FX (October 2 @ 9:30 pm), a celebration of Special FX Makeup Artists at The Ellen Powell Tiberino Museum.

So I failed my car inspection for what else.. the parking brake, which hasn't worked in YEARS and when my car was inspected 2 years ago they never said anything about it.  Apparently, the guy I had last week was pretty pissed off about having to work the day before a big holiday weekend and was being a stickler about everything.  To get a parking brake fixed, is pretty expensive, and considering I never use it, I really don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to fix something I don't use.  Also, I'll be buying a new/used car in a few months, but not before my expiration date to fix and re-inspect my car.

I talked to my usual mechanic and he used to have a guy that would do private inspections and not fail you for stupid stuff (e.g. parking brake!) and it was only $100.  Apparently this guy is no longer in business, but I was not aware such places exist... do any of you know a private car inspection that will give me a 2 year sticker at minimal cost?

Thanks!

EDIT:  Sorry, should've specified the area I'm looking for such a place, either Camden or Gloucester County or will consider Burlington or Cumberland as well.

I guess an add-me, over 30, South Jersey community would be too specific, huh?

I'm thinking I need to put more/new people in my path, so I've been looking at meetup.com.  Anyone know of anything like Meetup, but specifically for the NJ/south Jersey area?

Oh, question for people who take 295: Remember a few years back when they did all that construction b/w exits  40(rt.38) and 31(Woodcrest)?  For like 18 months there was all that construction, and I thought they were going to add a 4th lane, which would have been great.  But then it was over and there was---what?  It seems like they just widened the shoulders.  Is that all they did?

There are still a few sets remaining for the last show of the season in the Moorestown DeCafe concert series at the Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown, NJ.

Friday, May 15th they present Jonathan Byrd.

Jonathan Byrd

"A native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Jonathan grew up singing in the Southern Baptist church, where his father preached and his mother played piano. After four years in the Navy, he returned to Chapel Hill to play in rock bands in that legendary underground music scene. A friend of Jonathan's invited him to an old-time fiddle festival in the mountains of southwest Virginia, where his writing began to change. Assimilating the sounds of southern traditional music, Byrd wrote new songs in an ancient style."

"What a treat to hear someone so deeply rooted in tradition, yet growing in his own way." - Tom Paxton

Tickets are $15 and are available through the Perkins Center for the Arts website

Song samples and more on his website or myspace

Does anyone know of any 24 hour laundromats in the Camden/Burlington County area? Or anywhere else, for that matter? Last I heard, the one on Rt. 38 in Mt. Holly was no longer 24 hours, although I could possibly be misinformed.

Does anyone know of any anime/manga conventions in South Jersey. I know there's couple up north but I don't want to drive that far or make someone drive me that far if they are not into anime as much as I am. So I'm wondering if maybe there are smaller conventions in the area.

Thanks,

We are very pleased to announce that an article discussing apophenia and pareidolia has finally been posted on our website. These two issues pertain to perceptual interpretation and its role in paranormal investigation. Often most forms of paranormal phenomena are explained by skeptics as occurrences of apophenia and/or pareidolia. Read this new article by Christopher Orapello and find out why this can't always be the case!

Selling this sweet trailer. It was bought new at Home Depot 2 years ago for $2200. It's been on 2 tours.

In it, you can fit :

2 complete drum sets (with cases)
3 Guitar Cabs
4 Guitar Heads
5 Guitars (with cases)
2 Basses (with cases)
2 Random Combo amps
2 Big boxes of Merch
Over 10 big bags full of clothes.

.. basically it's enough room for 2 full bands to lug all their gear in a tour. It gets tight with 2, but it works well. It would be WAY more than enough room for one band.

I'm asking $1200 or best offer. Email or comment me if you're interested!

I highly favor using Paypal, but you could also send me a money order or meet me with cash.

The Trailer is currently located at my drummers house in Keansburg, NJ. If you decide you want it, you can paypal me the money and feel free to just roll up to Keansburg and take it off his driveway. All that can be worked out very easily. The cover over the left wheel is a little loose, but a couple screws will make that good as new.

So yeah, let me know.

My wife was recently laid off, she is looking for a job.

She has a 2 year degree from Ohio State business college in Accounting.

Accounts Payable/Receivables is what she would like to do, but also has worked in manufacturing as a line worker, and QA inspector.

If you know of a job opening please send me a message or respond to this message. We've been looking on Craigslist, Monster, Yahoo, hotjobs, Phillyjobs, etc.. with no luck. Also she's been canvasing the area applying everywhere.

Thanks..

Do you like local history? Do you want to explore a new part of South Jersey without leaving your home? Then take a look at my blog grovechronicle.wordpress.com. The town of Pitman played an important part in history and still has a historical feel. So check out my blog, and tour this small town only 15 minutes from Philadelphia

can anyone suggest FREE resume reviews in the area? i know some schools don't usually like to help you unless you actually took classes there, but asking friends for help doesn't always have the same effect as professionals.

i need help with this ASAP - burlington county college has a resume workshop on 9/24, but there's a huge career fair at lincoln financial field on 9/17 (and i'd like to apply at other places within the next week).

After moving to the area recently, I've been dealing with registering my car in NJ. Problem is my car windows are tinted - front ones too which means the car won't pass inspection at the state inspection centers. Anyone know how to get around this in NJ so the car will pass inspection? Any private inspection places you'd recommend? I'm not above paying someone off either...
