01. Name: Hannah 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I’ve seen the community name floating around LJ for awhile, and after a bit of initial trepidation about the one-strike policy, I thought I’d come and try my hand at getting sorted and joining. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? A cousin of mine started reading the series – I believe from around the time the first book came out. He’d mentioned it once or twice before and finally when the third book came out, let me borrow the first. I devoured it and wanted more. And then when I when I read the third book… Well! Couldn’t keep me away after that. ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name: Arianna 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I actually heard about you guys while I was in another sorting community way back when. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? I started reading it by accident. My grandmother bought me the first three books before the series was really popular, and I'd ignored them for the longest time, thinking they were kids' books. Then one day, I got bored and picked up Sorcerer's Stone, and I wound up so engrossed that I literally didn't take my nose out of the book. I actually climbed stairs while reading. I've been addicted ever since. ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name: Samantha 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? Googling. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? A few of my friends were into it, so I started reading the books to understand what they were talking about. That was about ten years ago. What has kept me reading (and re-reading) after all of this time (aside from Jo's cliffhanger's) was the depth of character. ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name:Jill to friends, Jillian Francise on the dotted line, and Miasma in writing and if given a choice. Just plain wyvernstars or “you idiot” will be okay, though. 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? A search on Livejournal for communities that list “Harry Potter” under their interests. To be more accurate, a search on the Internet in general for a nice Harry Potter discussion place. (I know it doesn’t sound more accurate, but it was what I was trying to get done.) 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?I remember the day. It all began when I was in second grade, way back in the October of 2000. My aunt, who was working in the United States at the time, dropped by our house for a visit, with a book she thought I would like, and that book was Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (well, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, really, but I never liked the title change). The rest, as they say, is history. (My aunt paid her visit right in the middle of our second quarter periodical exams. That was the quarter I went from top of the class to thirteenth, but I didn’t really care.) ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name: Mandy 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I'm a member of a few Harry Potter fanfiction sites, and I found a link on one of them. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? To be honest, I didn't care much about the series at first. I'm not even sure I heard much about the books, other than that they were wildly popular. It wasn't until the movie version of The Prisoner of Azkaban came out that I actually watched one of the movies, and I fell in love. I scoured the library for copies of the first 4 books and spent the next few years anxiously awaiting the release of the next book. 01. Name: Nadia 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I was browsing through graphics journals on LJ and stumbled onto the journal of wildmusings. She mentioned that she created graphics for hogwarts_elite (which were beautiful, by the way), so I decided to explore. I read a couple of successful applications and got totally freaked out but the enormity of the whole thing. I decided to grit my teeth and apply anyway mainly because I felt cut off from the Harry Potter universe and wanted to get the familiar feel back. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? It was probably about 9 years ago, a few months before the first movie was due to be released. My parents bought me the the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, when Harry Potter was gaining initial global popularity. I read it and loved it instantly, because I desperately wanted to enter this new and strangely realistic world. And then the trailer for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone came out. My parents didn't allow me to watch the first film in the cinemas. I couldn't do anything except to read and re-read the first book over and over again until the book was rather tattered. My parents got so irritated by the sight of me with the book that they bought me the DVD when it came out. That was when I realized that the series was the first ever that I genuinely loved and obsessed about. The rest is all history. ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name: scarlet_malfoy, or just Scarlet is fine. 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I can't remember the very first time and place I heart about it, but quite frequently over the years from various LJ folks. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? I started reading the Harry Potter series shortly after the first movie came out. Four books were also out at this time. I started out life apathetically towards Harry Potter, but after watching the movie (on complete accident) at a friend's house, something changed quite drastically. I hadn't been able to take my eyes off the screen for two seconds, and soon I found myself checking all four HP books out of the library and reading them in quick succession. Sometimes I regret finding fandom so late, but then again, I know I would not trade my first experience with the books for anything. It was a whirlwind, and all the while I could tell that I had found my calling. My "thing". My fandomy "place". Now, seven years later, I'm still here, and I know it's exactly where I've always belonged. =) ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name: Laura 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite?
A few years ago, possibly in 2006, I was reading a fanfiction by a hogwarts_elite ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) member (whose name I can not remember) and she had a link to the community in her sidebar. I was curious and looked it up. I read a few applications, got a little bit scared and promptly forgot about any ideas of applying. In a random burst of memory, I thought about hogwarts_elite today, and here I am! 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? I started reading Harry Potter when I was about 8 years old (so just a few months before Goblet of Fire was released), so it's safe to say that I started reading the series because all of my friends were! But what made me stick with Harry Potter was the idea of magic being normal. It intrigued me to think of the magical world running parallel to our world, and that maybe some of the events that we see are influenced by magic. I'd love to think that there's more than meets the eye in life. 01. Name: Tash 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I’ve heard about it, through various members on my flist, but recently a member of my flist was applying, ( greyfable and I’m re-reading the books and desperate for some HP fandom, so here we go! 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? Not long after the first movie came out, my flatmate gave them to me to read, I read the first three in about three days, and then went out and brought the fourth because she didn’t own it! I’ve loved them ever since. ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name: Cassie 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I found the link in one of my LJ friend's profile, and was curious. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? To be honest, initially, it was the hype. There was so much in the media about the series, that I wanted to see what I was missing out on. I read the first four books back to back, and was absolutely hooked. I've always had a soft spot for fantasy writing, and this just fitted the bill perfectly. 01. Name: Jessica 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? Through a few other members over at hogwartsishome who have mentioned this comm. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?Honestly, nothing really. My mum first bought the books for me but I didn't like them much because of the cover illustrations since I was such a really, fussy kid. Then she kept urging me on to try and read them so I eventually caved and gave '... the Prisoner of Azkaban' a try, then got told by everyone to read the first one first then that one, and that was round about how it all started. 01. Name: Katie 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? someone’s userinfo 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? My mom picked them up for my sister, thinking she might like them. My sister was eight. I was twelve. The third books had been released. My mom had gotten book one and three. I started reading through book one because I was bored one afternoon… and was immediate pulled! My sister wasn’t happy – it was her book, but I read it first! Oh noez! She’s since lightened up, and we both enjoy geeking out over Harry Potter. Anyway, once I finished book one, I asked everyone I knew if they read the books, and if so, could I borrow book two? Ended up meeting the girl who would be my best friend throughout junior high. ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name: Sarah 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? Through munanna. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? A family friend bought me the first book in 2000, but it gathered dust on my shelf until 2001. I went to watch the Philosopher's Stone and was immediately hooked. In the following three months I had read books 1, 2, 3 and 4, and about two years later had immersed myself in the internet fandom. The rest, as they say, is Hogwarts: A History. I miss talking about Harry Potter and discussing the books and movies. I've had a hard time finding a place to do so since Deathly Hallows came out. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?I first read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the fall of 1999. I had heard about them before and was able to get a copy of it from my new roommate (my favorite roommate ever because of it). I read the first three in quick succession (2 days) and haven't looked back since. I fell in love with the magic of it all. ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name:Elana or El 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I've know about the community for a while just skimming around livejournal. I'll admit it was more than likely one of my fanfiction scrimmages about other Harry Potter Livejournal Communities that I stumbled upon the Sorting_Elite. I've been following the community for a while now, but for some reason, never sumitted an application of my very own! Likely wanted to figure out what I wanted to post before I just jotted it down right off the top of my head. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? I'm a huge fantasy fan -- I've been reading anything I could get my hands on since I was very young (Lord of the Rings remains one of my personal little passions), but I didn't start reading Harry Potter until the fourth book was already out! I have no clue how it happened, but the wonderful series just slipped through my grasps until early 2000. Well, when I did begin reading the series, I couldn't stop! I've read through Harry Potter countless times, gone to little HP events, cosplayed from the series and many more little bits of fandom. 01. Name: Lily 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? With the upcoming release of the next Harry Potter movie, I got back into the Harry Potter fandom world, so I thought I would get sorted, and I had heard about this community a while back. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?Unfortunately, I don't have a very interesting story for this -- my parents got me the first three books for Christmas one year, back when I actually had the free time for reading. I read the first one, and well, I'm the kind of person who just has to know what happens next, so I'm sure you could guess why I read the next six. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?I was first introduced to Harry Potter at a school book fair when I was in 2cnd grade, but my mom refused to let me buy the book because she said that it promoted witch craft (although my Grandpa really wanted to buy my siblings and I all the books). So I waited until I turned 18, which is a very long time when you are in 2cnd grade, so that I wouldn't be rebelling against my parents, and I started the series about a month after my 18th birthday (which was last December). As of now I am on the 4th book (I would have been done with the series sooner if I wasn't living with my parents and so have to sneak around with the books). 01. Name: Maeve 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I heard about it very recently from one of my older sisters, and the idea of it intrigued me so I decided to try it out, just to see. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?I must have been about six or seven when the first Harry Potter movie came out, so that’s when I started to like it. Me, some of my sisters and our friends used to role-play Harry Potter when we were really young, running around and pretending to see a bunch of made up thing. xD After that my older sisters started to read the books, and when I was about 11 I read them all a load of times myself. Which given that I seem to be filling this in every couple of months, was ages ago as well as now. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?Alan Rickman's black eyes in the Philosopher's Stone movie posters on bus stops of London. The eyes and the look he had there lured me in to see the movie, after which I read the books to learn more. The man is charming, even if not my mental idea of book!Snape. 01. Name: Fairy 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? A friend's journal 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?I was one of the first to read the books, as my father bought me the Philosopher's Stone before it was famous. I'm very greatful, as I love knowing that I was one of the first :) It makes me feel special, and i've always loved him for that, so I guess I really have him to blame for my obsession with it! I mean, I was only a young child back then, just 8 years old and my parents had just divorced, so it was nice to get into that world and I was forever waiting for the next one to come out! A whole year to a child is, well, a very long time! I've only recently been into writing Harry Potter though, as fanfiction - I used to create Harry Potter fanvideos, but I prefer writing you see. 01. Name: Jeremy or Remy 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite?I can’t remember. I’m relatively new to the world of Harry Potter, so I was clicking links looking around for HP stuff on LJ and happened upon it. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?I was sort of bullied into it. I had never read any of the books because I had somehow gotten the impression that it was a children’s series. I spent years several years being harassed by friends who insisted they were great, but I resisted because I’m crazy-stubborn. Then I ended up getting an injury that left me knocked back on my ass for months and they attacked. They waited until I was so bored I was seriously considering reading shampoo labels, before they brought out the books. The worst part was they turned out to be right – I loved them. 01. Name: Kindra 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? Through fandom_wank, originally. The sorting community in particular popped up there a lot, which is a shame because it looks like you’ve actually got a fun little community here. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?I was given the first two books as a tenth birthday gift. At first, I didn’t want to read them because the main character was a boy and I was still in the “boys, ick” stage. But then my family took a road trip down to South Carolina (a nine-hour drive) and my mother read them aloud to us. By the end of chapter 2, I was hooked. 01. Name: David 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I’d heard of it, in fandom, quite frequently, only now worked up the courage to submit… 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? Before it was released I got an advance copy of a fantasy book that my sister’s publishing company wasn’t sure was going to sell. Back then it was just another book. But a very interesting book with wizards in purple robes and where things are never as they appear. The following book was a bit of a letdown, but every successive book had me on edge from beginning to end. I was so disappointed when my 10th birthday rolled around and the letter from Hogwarts didn’t. Damn reality! ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! )

01. Name: Amy 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? On userinfos here and there. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? Boredom, really, and a bit of curiosity. I was a bit of a latecomer, I was about 15 (even though I was 8 when Philosopher's Stone was published). I had nothing to do one day and my brother had bought Goblet of Fire and had read it, it was lying in my bedroom so I picked it up and read it straight through - after that I was secretly hooked. I hadn't read any of the first three when they came out, though I watched the films because we always went as a family. I think it was because everyone went on about them so much, I thought to myself, well I for one am not going to read them! I don't know... I was around 10 years old at that time, and I wasn't that interested in books unless it was The Hobbit or something about princesses, so I never thought to hop on the bandwagon. But thankfully, Harry Potter got me back into books (good job really since I'm now doing an English degree!) and reading Hermione made me enjoy learning even more. 01. Name: Faythe 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? Sifting through my Friends Page, I came across a post in an unrelated community from someone who is a member of Hogwarts Elite. It caught my eye and here I am. 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series?I was the typical '90s child, completely engrossed in all things magical. The Harry Potter series was by far and away my favorite. As I got older, I began to enjoy it for reasons beyond the pleasant prose. My friends and I enjoyed digging for the deeper meanings and hidden messages of our favorite books in the series while eagerly awaiting the next installment. Waiting for the next book to be released was probably my favorite part: There was always something new around the corner to look forward to.
