Local stores that carry pumpkin syrup (for lattes & cocktails)?
[info]3jewels
I'm looking for a local store that carries Monin or Torani pumpkin syrup. SBux won't sell their "holiday" flavor, TJ Maxx, Whole Foods don't carry it...other ideas? Has anyone seen it anywhere locally?

Jogger attacked on Tufts campus
xkcd
[info]madscientist01
Police are searching today for a man who punched a female jogger in the face on the Tufts University campus earlier this week.
A 27-year-old Medford woman was jogging on a walkway near the edge of campus and Colby Street when a man allegedly grabbed her arm and punched her in the face, said Medford Police Lieutenant Paul Covino.
The victim, who is not affiliated with Tufts, received scratches and a minor injury to her right eye, but refused medical attention at the scene, officials said.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-11-inch white male in his mid-20s with a dark jacket and light blue baseball cap.

Parking

Here's a verbatim cut/paste of an email I received, updating the permit parking regs.

Hello, this is Jackie Rossetti from the City of Somerville with important information about changes in permit parking regulations. Effective on January 4, 2010, all streets not currently under permit parking rules will shift to permit parking. A City contractor will begin erecting signs on affected streets starting tomorrow, Monday November 16th. All new signs will be in place by Friday, December 18th, but enforcement of permit regulations at these new locations will not begin until January 4th. In the meantime, the City will flyer all vehicles parked on newly permitted streets to remind drivers of the change, and will issue additional phone and email messages as we approach the implementation date. Resident parking stickers, visitor permits and all other permits are available immediately from the Traffic and Parking offices at 133 Holland Street: residents can save time by not waiting until the last minute to obtain their permits. For more information about how to obtain permits, please visit the City’s website at www.somervillema.gov or call 311 during normal business hours. Thank you.

The following is a notification sent by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation:

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation would like to inform you that, over the next several months, our consultants will be

room available in Ball Square apartment
[info]irinarasp
Hi,

We're looking for a roommate in our 4-bedroom apartment in Ball Square.
The apartment is spread out over 2 floors.  There are 2 porches, 2 full bathrooms.
Ample common space, large kitchen with dishwasher, and laundry (not coin-op) within the apartment.
The room is small but not tiny.   The rent is $470/month.  Lease is until end of August.

About current roommates.
Me: I am a grad student at Tufts.  I ride bikes, play in a klezmer/brass band.
Josh: Works at MGH, generally quiet around the house.
Lisa: Works in social research and bartends.  Lisa has a cat, Mono.  Mono is an indoor cat, so we all have to make sure doors are closed and such.

We are all pretty laid back, progressive, community oriented-types.

Let me know if you're interested in coming to take a look at the place and meet us.

This Saturday: Climb the Hills of Somerville on your bicycle
bicycle
[info]ron_newman
A reminder that I'll be leading the the Somerville Bicycle Committee's 17th annual fall Tour de Somerville this Saturday, October 17. Our theme this year is "Somerville: City of Seven (Or More) Hills".

We'll meet at 10 am at Seven Hills Park (behind the Holland Street T entrance in Davis Square), leaving promptly at 10:15. If it rains steadily on Saturday, we'll try again on Sunday, same time and location.

The 11-mile ride will visit each of Somerville's hills, both those that still exist and those that have been removed. Riders should wear helmets and be prepared for hill climbs and descents.

The Somerville Police will escort the ride on bicycles, and Redbones will provide refreshments at the halfway point.

For more info (and a list of hills), visit http://somervillebikes.org/events.html .

Most of us are familiar with the Rosebud in Davis Square and Kelly's Diner in Ball Square. But I suspect a lot of you have never noticed Buddy's Truck Stop Diner, way off the beaten path on Washington Street just east of McGrath. So I'm posting a link to this week's review in the Phoenix.

Donation Request! Beads, Earring making Supplies, and Food!
Bookgrl
[info]no_fun_nicole

Hi Everyone, I thought I'd see if anyone had any earring making supplies they can spare. Beads especially. Or any restaurant connections that might help us get some finger food for a fundraiser this sunday. We're getting pretty desperate. We've called around to those that usually help us out and no luck this year.

We're holding a fundraiser to support services for Romanian children with special needs, in foster care, and families in need. Economic circumstances have resulted in a drop in donations all around and at the same time a rise in abandoned babies and children with special needs. We put together fundraisers every year that involve crafting classes with whatever made sold to support the kids. We haven't gotten any supply donations this year from craft stores and the event is Sunday! I'm pretty desperate so I thought I'd see if any kind person out there had some beads or food they could donate. All beads are appreciated and we're not picky about food!

Oh! And all donations are tax deductible since its supporting a 501c3! So keep that in mind!

If you're willing to donate please send me an email at Just_Me@notsointeresting.com (or leave a comment here) and I'll send you all the info, the forms so you can see we're legit, and set up meeting times. The event is This sunday on Boston College campus. If you're interested in attending please contact me and I'll send you the invitation! (don't want to publicly post quite yet in case we don't have enough supplies). Romanian Children's Relief (http://www.rcr.org)

Thanks sooooo much in advance!!

Lost cat - REWARD
bernadette
[info]marylu
Have you seen our cat? Please help us find Toro!

Toro is a big, black, male cat with giant double paws. He is VERY friendly and loves treats and being petted. He may be wearing an orange collar.

Toro went missing from our home in East Somerville (near Glen Street) on Sunday, Sept. 27.  If you have any information, please call Mary Lu (617-480-8703) or Elizabeth (617-529-9102).  If you can't remember the number and you see him, just dial 311 (only works in Somerville) and give the information to animal control.

Whoever finds Toro and returns him to us (alive) will get a REWARD of an Ipod or cash equivalent. If you are a do-gooder and refuse the award, we will donate that amount to an animal shelter or to your charity of choice.

Thank you!!
