chidoll@girlgerms.net AboutThis community is for those looking for a peaceful place to talk about Wicca. It was created for Solitaries specifically, but the coven-minded are welcome, as long as they remain respectful of us. As such, we aren't here to listen to fretting about not having a coven, or to the trials of those looking for one. We're a comm for solitary Wiccans, and complaining about being a solitary tends to bring the air of 'you're not good enough'.
Whether you're a curious potential beginning student, a veteran student of Wicca, or anywhere in between, we can all benefit from each others' wisdom. We are all students, because we are always learning. There are no superiors, so please feel free to ask any questions.
Rules:
We have some rules, to keep the community a comfortable and safe place:
0) Behave yourself. I've received multiple (legitimate) complaints over the last few months about people being made extremely uncomfortable by elitism, snotty attitudes, and downright bitchery. I'm sick of people being afraid to post because they don't want to be jumped on. It is possible to disagree with someone without being a jerk or inflammatory. Mind your manners, because if I receive three complaints about you personally, you will be banned.
1) Trolls and flaming will not be tolerated. These offenses will result in immediate banning without warning. Reporting of people who do these things is very highly encouraged (email me at the address above, or comment in my journal). **Christians who come in and proselytise or otherwise offend are included in this rule.
2) Do Not Ever bash others' traditions. This will also end in you getting banned. This rule is in place to assure everyone's respect of one another.
3) Please do not advertise communities and sites unless they pertain to Wicca and/or Paganism.
4) Do Not post quizzes, even if they're pagan-related. Posts containing quizzes will be deleted without warning.
5) Do Not post your IM handle and beg for messages.
6) Do Not ask for love spells, and don't provide them. To put it simply, love spells = removal of free will. If you feel iffy about giving someone any kind of spell, trust your better judgement and don't hand it out. Discussion of spellwork is encouraged, though.
7) When posting images (and you can post them, as long as they aren't extremely off-topic) please use the lj-cut if one of their dimensions is larger than 400px or are of a nude or otherwise graphic subject. Also please use an lj-cut if your post is extremely long. Be realistic- if it makes you cringe to scroll past it on your friends page, you should probably snip it.
8) Do Not advertise for members to join your coven/circle/whathaveyou.
9) Do Not, under any circumstance, advocate illegal activities. This includes using mood- or mind-altering substances during rituals, holiday celebrations, or spellwork as a whole. Not only could this get the community into trouble with LiveJournal, but spellwork + drugs = Very Bad Things. This should be common sense, but apparently not.
The community mod cannot be at her computer 24/7 to keep an eye on the community, obviously. If you see someone breaking the rules or inciting drama over something, don't assume that the mod knows or that someone else has seen and reported it. I would rather recieve fifty e-mails or comments on my personal LJ about something than to have you guys being uncomfortable with someone's activities or behaviour here.
