If your thighs are too wide...
but you still want to wear SockDreams' Sherbet Stripes you can try doing what I did: cut off the ribbed cuff and wear them with garters. They're still a bit on the tight side, but at least now I can pull them all they way up. I plan to do that with my M stripes too, because it annoys me that I can't use all their lovely length.

If it hadn't been that it's over two years since I last did a review for SockDreams' Sock Journal and I can't remember how to log in I would have put it there; to help other women with sturdier legs enjoy the sherbet stripes. I know a lot of women use them as over-knees, but since my legs are only 75cm long (inseam) they are too long for that on me.

That's a fabulous idea-- I have that same problem with my M stripes and some super-long tube socks I got that I have to wear folded down, I forget what they were sold as. I might do this today, as it's just getting really cold here! I also have the industrial garter belt that Sockdreams sold for a while-- it's what hockey players used to wear back in days of yore, to hold their long socks up. I might start wearing that to roller derby practice, if they keep not turning up the heat in the roller rink!!
:)

And those are the perfect socks for those shoes. I knew you would put those shoes to good use. Man I wish I had like one-quarter your sense of style.

I love the shoes? Where did you find them? Did you decorate them yourself?

It's a british brand called Irregular Choice, and this is one of their less eccentric styles (or maybe not, but somewhere in the middle range). I got them from www.schuhstore.co.uk.

Thats definitely an awesome sock/shoe combo, they look perfectly matched together. Great idea cutting off the ribbed cuff, those have given me trouble too, but I would hate to see them come unraveled. How do you keep them from coming undone?

I did it yesterday and didn't do anything. They didn't show any sign of unravelling during the day. If they do show signs of that later I will probably zig-zag the upper edge while it's stretched out to the max. I will look a little weird when no ton, but that's not much of a problem in myeyes.

I love the sock shoe combo as well!

I often cut stockings when the cuff is too tight, but I've never tried it with socks because I thought they'd fray. Thanks for expanding the idea! Please let us know if the upper edge frays and if the sewing works. :)

I've been considering doing that but I hadn't tried it yet! Super awesome!

I bet that'd look great with these, too.

Lovely!
I am including this in today's Sock Journal entry.
This is the log in Eva: http://www.sockdreams.com/weblog/wp-login.php?
But we are in the midst of getting the new site up, should be ready right after the holidays and the journal will be totally changing so you might want to hold off on posting there anyway. But when it is finally done it is going to be really cool!
