To worship me take wine and strange drugs whereof I will tell my prophet, & be drunk thereof! [AL II:22] This line from the Book of the Law is too often interpreted as an excuse to indulge unduly in alcohol or other drugs. We believe that Magick ritual, whether public or private, is best performed with a clear head and a clear heart. Getting seriously drunk or stoned right before, during or right after rituals, Eleusinian Rites, Masses, et cetera, is inappropriate and not conducive to Magickal work. No, you won't find grape juice in our Mass cup, but we are concerned about the effects of alcohol and drugs in the Thelemic community. If you have similar concerns, and are interested in having a sober dialogue about Thelema and Magic, then this is a community for you. We believe that the choice not to drink or take drugs is a valid choice. Our focus is not to attack or target those who choose to drink or take drugs, but to create a safe environment where people who choose to perform Magick without the influence of intoxicating substances can network and discuss their experiences.
