"You want me to put that where?"

The look Severus gave his lover suggested that he had gone mad. "On the mantel, over the fireplace," repeated Remus, cocking his head. "What's wrong? You don't want other people to see it?"

"I don't want to see it!" The vehemence in Severus' voice made Remus blink. "It may evoke pleasant memories for you, but it's humiliating for me. I refuse to be forced to look at that in my own parlor."

"All right," Remus conceded after a moment. "I'll put Sirius' photo somewhere more private."

"I'd prefer in the fireplace," Snape muttered.

"You liar, Snivellus!" the painting shouted. "Moony would never!"

"I've lived in your house for three years, Black," Snape said smugly. "Lupin says he's happier than he's ever been. He still loves to have that scar on his lip nibbled. He makes those moaning noises if..."

"Shut up! You hexed him!"

Fifteen-year-old Sirius sounded just like Severus remembered. This must have been the last portrait of him his mother commissioned.

"Why do you think you're in a basement closet?" demanded Snape. "Remus put you here because I asked nicely."

Black looked so forlorn that Snape almost felt sorry for him.

ooooooh!! Thank you SO much for writing this!! I'm sorry that I didn't answer this before now. This is teh perfect! What I adore is the smugness in Snape's tone! He knows how satisfied Remus is, knows he is the one that makes Remus's lips curl up in contentment, and he revels in the knowledge there isn't a thing that the Sirius portrait can do about it!

and Snape asking nicely for something is a delightful image for me to contemplate! Thank you for giving it to me!

Sirius is SO the ex-boyfriend! I love that Rowling practically wrote a gay couple into canon; I would never try to deny that!

The poor man is dead -- it amuses me to see Snape still hating him. I think Remus forgives him because he finds the possessiveness endearing. *g*
