Claim a Mood
Welcome to the Sneezefic 132 in Moods Challenge! Your mission-- should you choose to accept it-- is to help contribute to a collection of stories and pictures that will make up a mood theme. The collection will be assembled at The Sneezefic132 Website.

Rules and Information-

THE CHALLENGE:

Claim one of the available moods (first come, first serve) by commenting in reply to this very post. Write a story (100 words or more) and post a small picture (100x60) that goes with your story which fit the mood you chose.


THE IDEA:

I got the idea for this from MoodRings - 132 Celebrations of Spander at spander132 which, in turn, got the idea from MoodRings -- 132 Celebrations of LOTRips.


RULES/TECHNICAL STUFF:

• Claiming: If you claim a mood, you have 2 months to submit a story and picture for it (or at least give me an update of your progress and an excuse) or it will be released so someone else can claim it. Weekly reminders will be posted to the community so you won't be able to forget. A participant can have a maximum of only 3 moods claimed at a time. If you want more, finish the ones you have!
  
• Stories: Stories can be of any type. However, they must be written about the chosen mood and include at least one sneeze. There is a 100 word minimum, but no maximum length is required. Stories can be: an original story or from any fandom; gen, het, or slash; any pairing; any rating. They all need to be labelled clearly, however, with the standard headings (title, author, rating, spoilers, warnings, summary). The title of each story must be the chosen mood (ex: Geeky, by tarotgal).
  
• Pictures: Please do not use unauthorized photos/pictures (i.e. fanart, other people's work, pictures that aren't supposed to be used for other purposes or in other archives) no matter how strong the temptation. Pictures should be in .gif, .jpg, or .png formats and titled with the chosen mood (ex: geeky.png). If you have a picture but don't know how to make it 100x60, ask tg for help.
  
• Submissions: When finished, please post your final product (both story and picture) to the community OR e-mail tarotgal and she'll post them for you. You must be willing to have them archived together for the finished product!
  
• If you have any additional questions, e-mail tarotgal or post in the community.

Absotively you may! :-) Glad you found the journal (was about to write to you about that). I'm really glad you enjoy the idea! When it's all assembled, I'll put it together in a set so the theme can be used if someone wants (and I might use it on my LJ for show/amusement if I can stand parting with my WK boys). It's definitely okay! Go for it :-) I look forward to reading your final piece! As far as the deadline... the month thing is really more a guidline than actual rules. It's so people don't claim moods and never write anything for them while others might want that mood. So as long as you drop me a note sometime within a month (every month) to tell me you're still intending to finish it you have as much time as you want/need for the fic and picture. You most certainly may! I was wondering who was going to take that one (I was tempted, myself, but I wanted to give people enough time to claim what they wanted before I chose another). So good on you for picking a good one! I hope you enjoy it! 132 fics? I'm seriously giddy at the thought. :-) Oooo, yes, giddy. Hey, you want giddy, too? ;-) Really, yes, I agree. The other two attempts at this I've seen online didn't seem to make it all the way to 132. (At least, I know one didn't) And I can't imagine how long this will take or if interest will hold up until it can be completed. But I thought it would be a fun project and overwhelmingly nummy if it works out. I'm happy so many people like the idea so far! :-) And, awww. I like your icon. Awww, don't be stressed (because Nessa already claimed that one)! *hugs* I'd be more than happy to assist you with the pictures. It might be easier to find a picture and then write a fic around that image, but whatever gets your muses going. You're absolutely welcome to claim two more. They're yours. I'm jealous that you claimed nostalgic. I would have loved to have written a fic for it. But I don't have any idea for it... I just like nostalgia in general and flashbacks and friends reflecting on better times. You're certainly welcome to it, though. And I hope you have fun with it and with tired. Enjoy! Ok, I'm going to give this a try. (This'll be my first sneezefic so I'm kind of scared!) Um, A few questions: 1) Does the mood have to describe the main character in the story, or can it describe someone the main character is talking about? and 2) Since my family and friends don't currently know about my love of sneezing is it ok if I remain anonymous and not post through my journal, which is under a different name? hey TG, I was going to just send you an email about this, but decided to ask here instead so the info is available for anyone else that might want it... The story I'm writing is with original characters that I've had for several years now and whose various arcs are not limited to sneezefic, and I'd really rather not have anything I've written with them floating around *too* much. Given that, is it okay if I friends-lock my submission but also post it to the list so those who wish to remain anonymous here can still read it? I realize I am being Paranoid Writer Extraordinaire about this, but... what can I say, I love the many people in my head. ;) (Reply to this) (Thread)

It's a very good question. Weeeeeell... the problem is this line from the instructions "You must be willing to have them archived together for the finished product!" The final submissions will not only be posted to this community but will also go on the website archive for this challenge (http://www.geocities.com/sfchallenges/sneezefic132/) and there won't be any limiting of readers there as the point is to showcase the stories and pictures. As difficult as it will be for your muses... I'd suggest changing the names of the characters if at all possible. Or writing something different. Because I totally understand the Paranoid Writer thing, myself, and I wouldn't want anything bad to happen either. But the point of this is to archive all the stories together in a final product, so friends-locking and not including a fic wouldn't make much sense. Sorry :-( (Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

I'd like to tentatively request "Thirsty". I've had several stories half-writing themselves in my head for this one since you posted the challenge, so I'm going to try my best to get one actually written. Unfortunately, my computer is in no shape for me to be able to edit or crop any pictures, as it's limited to early-nintendo-type graphics and I can't view anything except very basic colors. However, I do know exactly what image I want to use. Any chance that I could send you the image that I want to use when the story's done? I'm sorry to impose on you like this. Thirsty is all yours! You've got great timing. I was just editing this page and the website to claim a second challenge for myself. I'd be more than happy to do that for you and, in fact, I had anticipated needing to do some cropping and resizing for people who weren't familiar with that kind of thing when I created the challenge anyway. So there's absolutely no problem. Just point me in the direction of the picture whenever you're ready and let me know if there are any specific instructions (parts of the picture to focus on/crop out, etc.). Btw, what dimensions to these mood icons have to be anyway? It says it in the technical stuff section of this post you replied to (under Pictures) but it's 100 wide x 60 high. Oohhhhhhh! Good for you for trying! *hugs* I'm honored that you're making the attempt! Apathetic's all yours. As for the picture... yes. You need to find a picture that matches the mood you chose, and goes with your story. It needs to be 100x60 in size- if you ask me, I can crop and resize it for you if you can't. Please see the 'picture' section above for what I won't allow. But the general answer is, yes, you find one online (or scan one in, or use one you have on your computer already, or have screencap software and you take a screencap that fits, or you're an artist and you'd prefer to create your own, etc.) (Reply to this) (Parent)
