Hi all,
Sarah S. has generously offered to have a barbecue at her house next month, on Wednesday August 5. I'm posting the information now so you can put it in your calendar if desired; I'll also make another post closer to the time of the event. I hope you can make it!

Unfortunately I'll be missing it this week (I've got practice for a show on Thursday). I'm not sure who all will be there, but if you are planning to go, please comment (or otherwise let me know) so that other folks will know that there'll be someone else there. I'll make another post on Tuesday or Wednesday just to let you know what's up.
Sorry for the disorganization -- I'll be back on my normal schedule next week.

June 13 is the kickoff for this year's World Wide Knit In Public Day (which actually appears to be four days, but never mind). There are at least a couple of related events that I thought people might be interested in:
* Fresh Purls (769a Hope Street in Providence) is having a KIP event from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday June 13, where people are encouraged to knit outside their store. They'll have some lawn chairs but also recommend bringing your own and some sunscreen. More information can be found in their June newsletter.
* Knitaholics (the East Bay knitting group) is having a KIP event also on the 13th starting around noon and going until whenever. The plan is to have it outside Coastal Roasters at 1791 Main Road, Tiverton, RI. (As above, bring a chair and some sunscreen!) If the weather is bad it sounds like it will be moved to Custom House Coffee at 600 Clock Tower Square, Portsmouth, RI. You can read the discussion of this KIP event on the Knitaholics ravely forum if you have a ravelry account.
I definitely want to go to the knitaholics event (I might stop by Fresh Purls too) so if anyone's interested in going and wants to carpool let me know.
If there are other KIPs going on in Rhode Island that people should know about, let me know and I'll update this post!

I don't really crochet (I put the 'really' in there because I did crochet a bath mat once, but I still feel like I don't understand it very well) but there are some patterns in the ravely crochet nominations discussion that I think are pretty neat. (And a bunch I don't care for, but that's to be expected.) Thought I'd post a link for any interested crocheters out there ...

Just another reminder that SnB is at Gregg's tonight, not at Reflections. Plus some bonus new information!
I called Gregg's yesterday to see if they take reservations. They don't, but I was told that they would expect a party of about a dozen to get seated pretty quickly tonight as they have a bunch of big tables.
I also asked if they had any special cakes that we could get decorated. They don't, which may be just as well, as that means that everyone can just get a slice of their preferred kind of cake. There's quite a selection!
So, anyway, I hope to see a bunch of you there! If you can't get there until later and want to make sure that we're still there, or want to make sure we reserve you a spot, feel free to call me at 401-419-0367. (Here's who I think is coming.)

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, SnBProv will be meeting at Gregg's Restaurant at 1303 North Main Street in Providence this coming Wednesday April 29 at 6:30 pm. (The menu is online here.)
Crafters of all kinds and experience levels are welcomed. If you've never been to SnB before, don't be discouraged -- this might be the best time to meet everyone!
I am trying to get a headcount, so if you're planning to come, please let me know. You can use this poll for that purpose, or comment here, or email me, etc. (But if you only determine at the last minute that you can come, come anyway, and we will find a way to squeeze you in.)

Hi all,
Sorry for the delay in getting this out. Anyway, the plan for Wednesday (April 29) is that we will have SnB at Gregg's on North Main in Providence. The menu is here. The address is 1303 N Main Street in Providence.
This is in celebration of SnBProv's fifth anniversary (the first ever SnBProv meeting was on April 27, 2004). As part of the celebration, I'll give away a few door prizes, and there will be cake. I'll make the reservation for 6:30 but if you can't get there until later that is also OK.
I'll make a reservation early this week, so please let me know if you're planning to go. (Feel free to come even if you have never been to SnBProv, or if you used to come but haven't been in a while!)
If you have a livejournal account, probably the simplest way to let me know that you're coming is by filling out the following form. Otherwise, you can comment or send me email or facebook mail.

Hi all,
The first ever SnB was on April 27, 2004, so we're coming up on our fifth anniversary! I feel like maybe we should do something but I'm not sure what.
April 27 is a Monday, and the closest SnB is on Wednesday April 29. We could have a yarn trade, or a Yankee swap, or something like that if people think it would be fun. We could also go bowling sometime that week, or go to Wright's Farm, or have some other kind of field trip. (I have plans for Thursday April 30 and Saturday May 2 but otherwise that week is currently free for me.)
Anyway, thought I'd put this out there while there was still a couple of weeks to plan stuff. Let me know what you think!
