PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

As most of you are aware, InsaneJournal is experiencing some serious technical difficulties at this time.

We are certain that this will be rectified in time for our Games start date of April 19, however, if it is not, we will have no choice but to delay the opening of the [info]snarry_games, as we no longer post *content* on Livejournal, nor will we.

We will keep you updated.

Friends of Snarry,

The Games Mod Squad would like you all to know that one of our premiere Champions, [info]swtalmnd, three-time Gold and Silver medalist, has put up her extraordinary original Snarry painting, Unbound by Gravity, done for [info]dementordelta's story The World as it Is, on the sale block.

Here is a teaser - click on the picture to take you to her Art Sale post. Get an original Snarry Games piece for yourself!

The [info]snarry_games mods would all like to congratulate and wish the [info]hd_worldcup players and its mods good luck in their upcoming Games!

The Maintainer of those Games, [info]wook77, contacted us in regards to animal rescue situation. We wanted to take a moment from all the Snarry Goodness to share with you information about it.

In the past month, an animal organisation in Tucson, Arizona has helped to break up a fighting dog breeding ring. This resulted in 150 pitbulls being housed at Pima Animal Care Center with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona taking in approximately 70-80 dogs from PACC and adopting them out.

Now - Pima County has a huge hoarding case. At last count (the animals are still rolling in so it's rather hard to give you a completely up to date number) there are 755 dogs and 40 exotic birds. There are puppies being born as I type this. The conditions at the house were horrible - the carpet squished from the urine. In addition - the dogs were stacked in crates one on top of another. These crates were open wire cages. This started as a puppy mill and quickly became a hoarding case.

Some links so you can see what is going on - CNN Video. Official HSSA Information: http://www.hssaz.org/news_chihuahua_rescue.html

To put it bluntly - there is no way that the Humane Society has the financial resources to take care of 800 animals unexpectedly. They normally house 200 dogs. They have converted the large conference room to house the exotic birds. They have converted their training center into an emergency triage/shelter for the dogs.

Considering that the HSSA is housing these animals, I'm going to link to the HSSA website donation information - Donate. Please.

We would also like to remind viewers here in Livejournal that we no longer post any entries here, though we are posting DAILY right now over at InsaneJournal. Champion Interviews and Opening Games Crack!Art galore!

Tripp drew some *new* art exclusively for the Games, based on the Genres this round (AR Superman!Harry omg!!), and allowed the use of her previous works for a collage, then [info]xingou ran with it.

You can find it at both LJ and the main comm at IJ!

We have also begun posting the Opening Games Crack!Art, which is already trickling in! Do you want to try your hand at it? See the invite post HERE.

This theme of fire this year has me thinking. Two years ago, we were working madly at this time of year to create a lasting archive after the implosion of Detention, a much-loved Snarry site. With lots of hours, some stellar efforts, and the miracle of compromise, a new Walking the Plank was born from the ashes of Detention.

where we came from )

As a matter of fact, [info]djin7 created the Snarry Games initially as a celebration of the rebirth of Walking the Plank, and a wish to share the joy of Snarry. The structure has served it well, and WTP will be up nearly twice as long as Detention when it celebrates its 2 year anniversary on Valentine's Day, February 14th.

looking toward the future )

If you are interested in volunteering, please visit us on the WTP forum. Everyone is welcome, and your unique skills will be appreciated!

The Snarry Games and Walking the Plank have always had a symbiotic relationship, and always will. We were born at the same time, and for the same reason: preserving the Snarry for those who love it. Whether you visit one or both, whether you read or volunteer, we appreciate you. The same fire burns within us all.

Our most esteemed 2008 Winter Snarry Games Teams have already been given this list of prompts and genres to peruse for several days.

This weekend, they must each commit to their Genre(s) and Prompt(s). Then we will light the torch flame firecracker, and the games will BEGIN!

Champions are required to pick THREE (3) between their prompts and genres. Combinations can be either TWO genres and ONE prompt, or ONE genre and TWO prompts.

There are TEN (10) Genres and FIFTY (50) Prompts total.

The judges will rate each entry based on genre(s), prompt(s), and overall performance.

The Future of the Snarry Games Poll, PT 2
Ok, then.

We have calculated the results of our poll(s), and the results are interesting.

Team Alternate Universe and Team Alternate Reality came out on top, with 37% of the total vote. Next closest was Team Romance and Team Angst at 24% of the vote. If we decide to go with AU vs. AR, rest assured that we will be using a clear definition for everyone.

We are still considering another option, which we are keeping under our hats, for now.

66% of you want the Champions to be identified or don't care either way.

Here comes the tricky bits. An overwhelming amount of you - 65%, want the Author and Artist Games kept separate, the same as 2006 and 2007.

However, there was a lot of interest for Art/Author collaboration - 83% would consider or be interested in a change of games to have both Author/Artist, especially if the mods assigned partners (75%).

Due to the extreme increase in fandom fests, and the overall lack of interest for them, if we do amalgamate the Games (have both Authors and Artists together) then the Games could run at an optimum time, when few others do.

Such as: July, for 40% of the vote.

So, before we announce or make any changes, we have one more small poll for you, to help the mods decide if we announce the 'Winter Author Games' this weekend for posting in the usual April/May, or if we hold off and announce a collaborative and/or mixed 'One Big Games' for the summer only.

Please let us know what you think, both as potential Champions as well as Spectators. Thank you!
