This community is for photography lovers.

snapshot_seeker is for anyone and everyone who enjoys taking pictures. You do not have to be professional. Anyone can take beautiful/neat/crazy photos. This is a place to share them and hopefully get a little encouragement to get out there and see what you can do with a camera. We have weekly themes that range from being very general categories to more specific things. We also have a monthly scavenger hunt which we hope is a little more challenging than the weekly themes.



NOTE: You have until 11:59pm on Thursday to vote, and until 11:59pm on Saturday to enter the weekly theme contest, and until 11:59pm on the last day of each month to enter the scavenger hunt. Click on the map here and look at the time in New York for comparison. I will always take themed pictures until I actually post the poll, but I give a time so that you're safe. I have posted just after midnight before, so don't count on me being late :)

RULES FOR APPLICANTS

o1. You must post an application/introduction. This isn't a rating community, but we want to know that you're serious about joining, and it's a way of keeping track of everyone. You must post this application/introduction within a week of joining, or you will be removed from the community. If you are removed, and would still like to be a part of the community, you may try to join once more.

o2. No posting/commenting on entries until your application/introduction is up.

o3. Do not tYpE/Sp3ll LykE DiSS. Brad will delete you in .02 seconds.

o4. Put your user name as the subject so that we know you actually read the rules.

o5. Read the member rules as well so that you understand what's going on once you're a part of the community.


RULES FOR MEMBERS

o1. Keep the pictures PG13. If they aren't, put them under a cut, and include a warning.

o2. Stay active. We obviously know that you're busy sometimes, just let us know here :) If you don't post anything in a whole month without contacting us, you will be removed from the community without warning.

o3. All pictures must be taken by YOU. This means that you can't just find them online, or use pictures that other people took with you. If you steal someones photos and we find out, you will be banned. Also do not take/use any of the members pictures unless you ask and are granted permission!

o4. If you are posting more than one picture, please put the rest behind a cut. If you need help with this, feel free to contact me through e-mail.

o5. Please resize your pictures so that they aren't HUGE. I may set up a certain size if it becomes a problem.

o6. Post theme of the week in your own entry.

o7. You may promote other photography related communities but you must promote us there as well.

o8. You may post pictures that are unrelated to the theme, but only under a cut (there can't be ANY outside of the cut). We don't want additional post that aren't related to the theme, moving others off the friends list.

o9. No altering the pictures. You can make slight changes that a camera could do (like change from color to black and white, etc). No combining pictures together. This only applies to the photo that you enter for the poll though. You may do whatever you like with the other pictures in your weekly post.

1o. No voting for yourself in the polls. It defeats the whole point of voting. These are friendly competitions. Nothing more. Vote for someone else, or don't vote at all.

11. Comment! You like getting comments on your posts, right? Return the favor! - okay, I realize that I can't make this a RULE, but I HIGHLY encourage it.

APPLICATION/INTRODUCTION

Read all of the rules before applying. By posting your application/introduction, you're saying that you have and that you understand them.
We will be able to tell if you didn't, and we will not accept you if you don't!

Do not use rich text mode and do not mess with the HTML. Make sure that you're making your post in the HTML setting, and NOT Rich Text! Everything is ready. All you have to do is copy the application/introduction and paste it into a new entry. Please put your answers after the >/b< (with the arrows reversed) tag.

Also, at the end of the app, we ask you to promote us. Please keep in mind that we don't want you to spam people. If you want to put it in your user info or a post for your friends to see, that's awesome. If you have certain friends that you know would be interested, let them know. If you want to just help us spread the word, there are several communities made just for promoting that you don't have to join to post in.

ACTIVITY CONTEST?

For every theme you link to me (on time) and every picture you have found on the scavenger hunt (also has to be linked and on time), you receive one point. The person with the most points at the end of the three months (the end of March, June, September & December) wins the contest. They can choose LJ gifts or a package mailed out by me. get a banner that stays in the user info for 1/4 of a year!

MEMBER OF THE MONTH?

To become the member of the month, you must enter a photo for each theme for that month, and complete the scavenger hunt. Both MUST be linked to the mods posts (theme post, and hunt post announcing what they are). If more than one person does this, Brad and I will pick a winner. If we have a tie between members, you will vote between them. You can't win twice in a row (unless you were the only one to qualify), but you can win more than once.
