Spoiler policy: Posts here do NOT have to include spoiler warnings. If you're here, we're assuming you've either read all the books or don't care about spoilers.
This is a community for those of us who habitually wrangle with the rare and cunning Snape Muse.
It is also for any unfortunate person who has found him or herself at the business end of one of the Professor's astonishly well-crafted insults.
Whichever you may be, remember: It's okay to cry.

Ground Rules
1. Play nice. Civil, on-topic debate is fine. Knock-down fights and personal insults are not.
2. Post on-topic. The topic (in case anyone missed it) is writing Severus Snape in fanfiction. On-topic subjects include:
-Analysis of Snape as a character, particularly as pertinent to fanfic writers.
-Discussion of Snape's relationships (or potential relationships) with other characters. Romantic/sexual or not, het or slash.
-Snapefic tropes and cliches, and how to avoid them or use them to best effect.
-Support/suggestions for helping writer's block and Snape characterization hurdles.
-Links to current Snape discussions elsewhere.
Feel free to post asking for a beta-reader for your own Snape fic. Describe the story you're working on (length, tone, content, pairing), and what kind of help you're looking for, so that any volunteers will know what they're getting into.
3. Use LJ-cuts. Very long posts go behind a cut. Images go behind a cut. Memes (on-topic somehow, I trust?) go behind a cut. If you're using an HTML table for some reason, make dead sure to put it behind a cut -- tables mess up some people's friends pages.
Cuts work like this:
<lj-cut text="This is a description of the cut.">
This is the text that is hidden under the cut.
</lj-cut>
The community chat channel is #snapesupport on DynastyNet IRC. Moderated, logged chats are occasionally held, but feel free to drop by any time to chat with other Snape fans. Please use your LJ username for your IRC nick so that we all know who's who.
