Title: A Summer Rat Author: dexstarrWord Count: 100 x 3 Rating: PG-13 Challenge: snape100: Prompt #344: Summer Characters: Severus Snape, Peter Pettigrew Author's Note: Did not get my usual 3 days of rereadings, so I hope there are no mistakes! Set just before Half-Blood Prince. Disclaimer: Not mine. *** He was perusing his books, eyes running over the faded leather spines, searching for the perfect tome to start off his relaxing summer, when the brand on his left arm burned. “What now?” Irate at having his peace interrupted, hours into his summer holiday, Snape nevertheless fixed an ‘I’m-not-too-annoyed’ expression on his face and Apparated to the Dark Lord’s side. Mere minutes later he was bowing to the hem of Voldemort’s dark robe. “You summoned me, my Lord?” Motioning for Snape to rise, Voldemort said, “Yes, Severus. I have tasks for you, now that you aren’t constrained by your…duties…at Hogwarts.” ( Two, Three )
Title: A Chance at Happiness Author: alisannePairing: Severus Snape/Harry Potter Rating: PG Challenge: Written for snape100's prompt #344: The Four Seasons - Summer Word Count: 100 x 9 Warnings: There are so many things I could say here given the recent controversy, but I'll just stick with romance and fluff. Challenge #344: The Four Seasons: Summer Title: A Plague of Flies Author: bluestocking79 Rating: PG Word Count: 100 x 2 Note: Set in 1976, just after the end of Snape's fifth year, but inspired by the small glimpse Harry had of his memories in OotP. Summer had invaded Spinner's End, and with it had come the flies. Hot, foetid dampness, redolent of filthy river and sweaty bodies, had seeped in through every crack, suffocating the house with soupy, stale air. This was especially true where Severus lounged on his bed, hidden up in his small, dark room under the eaves and resentfully silent, lest he awaken Toby and his hangover. The humidity made his hair, sheets and book pages wilt, clinging to his skin with clammy tenacity, and he'd finally abandoned reading for glaring at the ceiling. And the flies, naturally. There were always flies. ( There was no escaping them... )

Title: Summertime Blues, V Challenge: summer Word Count: 100 Dearest Severus -
We're having a few friends over this weekend. Would you come? Lady Rockraven's cousin will be visiting from France. She's been hired at Beauxbatons to teach potions - Severus rolled his eyes. Amelie de Tournay was a simpering idiot who giggled about shrivelfigs. What was Narcissa thinking? "Severus?" A voice - dear God, was that Lupin? - called from the parlor grate. "Albus asked me to check on the Wolfsbane. Do you have a moment?" Severus smiled grimly and picked up his pen. Dear Narcissa,
I regret that I have other plans for this weekend -

Title: Summertime Blues, IV Challenge: summer Word Count: 100 The Malfoys' eagle owl, a large and haughty bird, hopped onto the kitchen counter. Severus groaned. The bird would accept nothing but bacon, very hot, or mice, very fresh, and of course he had neither. "I apologize in advance," he said, removing the message pouch. "I had no idea you were coming, or I would have put out the traps." The owl snapped its beak at his fingers, almost ripping the flesh, then shed feathers into the sink. Severus glared and began to read. He didn't find the owl droppings in the sugar bowl until after the damned bird had left.
Title: Summer of Change Author: angela_snapeWord Count:100 x 2 Rating: PG Pairing Severus/Bill Prompt: The Four Seasons: Summer Disclaimer JKR’s, not mine. Just for fun. A/N: Part of the Acceptable series. Summer of Change

Title: Summertime Blues, III Challenge: summer Word Count: 100 He gave money to whatever worthy charity Creevey represented. What choice did he have? Mrs. McGillicuddy had come out on her stoop and was no doubt memorizing every snag in his ancient terrycloth dressing gown. She was overdue for being turned into a garden slug, but he was not going to shame himself before her by shouting at a Boy Scout. After he finally managed to get rid of the brat, he decided it was time for tea and a leisurely breakfast. Then he might catch up on Coronation Street, or read a book - An owl banged at the window.

Prompt #344: Summer Title: Like Midsummer Dreams Author: dreaming_treesRating: G Words: 100 Notes/Disclaimer: Pre-canon, Wiz War I. All Harry Potter characters are the property of J. K. Rowling. Just borrowing here.

Title: Summertime Blues, II Challenge: summer Word Count: 100 Severus pulled on a dressing gown and stumbled down the stairs. The doorbell had rung again, and again. If it was old Mrs. McGillicuddy collecting for the jumble again - He yanked the door open, mouth half-open as he prepared to dress down whomever it was. The words died unsaid as he saw his visitor. A Boy Scout. A short, blond Boy Scout, peaked cap, knee socks, and all. "What - " "Good morning, sir! I'm collecting for the local - Professor Snape? Is that you?" "You - " "Don't you remember me? I'm Colin Creevey!" If only Severus could forget.

Title: Summertime Blues, I Challenge: summer Word Count: 100 Summer hols. Severus turned over with a little sigh of pleasure. Summer hols meant no dungeon. No faculty meetings. No classes. No Dumbledore. Long sleep-ins, research, travel - No students. He smiled to himself and tried to decide which was better: two whole blissful months with no bossy little girls trying to teach his classes? No myopic dunderheads stealing his supplies? Or perhaps no inebriated purebloods vomiting on his doorstep after a night drinking their father's whisky? A bird trilled outside the window. Sunlight poured in across the bedroom. Severus rolled over to get another hour's sleep. The doorbell rang.

Title: Misunderstood Author: scarysnapeyWord Count: 100x2 Rating: R (to be safe) Challenge: snape100 Challenge: 344: Summer Warning: Sexual implications. Misunderstood

( Remember: drabble posts now appear on livejournal and insanejournal and dreamwidth) Challenge #344: "The Four Seasons: Summer" This week's challenge is the first in a series based on the four seasons. Title: Unbreakable Heart Author: dexstarrWord Count: 100 x 2 Rating: PG-13 Challenge: snape100: Prompt #343: Heart Characters: Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore Author's Note: Inspired by countless rereadings of The Prince's Tale. Disclaimer: Not mine. *** Two thin, bright flames already surged between their clasped hands. Severus felt his heart beat even faster, winging like a trapped hummingbird, as Albus spoke once more. “And will you do anything necessary to protect Harry Potter from Lord Voldemort?” “I will.” A third jet of fire slid from McGonagall’s wand, binding their hands thrice. The magical chains burned bright red, the color of the phoenix perched behind them, then disappeared, glittering into nothingness. Dumbledore pulled his own wand from his midnight-blue robes, and pointed it at their Bonder. “I’m sorry, Minerva.” He cleared his throat, and said sadly, “ Obliviate.” ( Two )

Title: Magic Muggle, II Challenge: Magic Man Word Count: 100 "Here." Eileen pointed at a picture of herself and Tobias on their wedding day. "We were so happy. He knew about me being a witch, and he didn't care." She went into a coughing fit. Severus supported her until she could breathe easily. "Mum - you fought all the time. He - he hit you - " "That was after the mill closed." Tears spilled down her face. "Even my magic couldn't help him then. No work, too much drink - " Severus held her close as she wept until sleep finally eased her pain. So much for Muggle Magic.

Title: Magic Muggle, I Challenge: Magic Man Word Count: 100 "Why'd you marry him, Mum?" Severus leaned close in the darkened room. His mother didn't have long, and if he was ever to get an answer to his question, it was now. "He was - " "He was different then. Hadn't started the drink." Eileen smiled at the memory. "But - Mum, he was a Muggle! No magic at all!" She coughed and signaled for water. Severus held the cup to her lips until she'd sipped. "He knew how to show a girl a good time, he did." Severus frowned. "I don't - " "There's more than kind of magic."
Title: Magic Man Author: alisannePairing: Severus Snape/Harry Potter Rating: PG Challenge: Written for snape100's prompt #343: Heart Word Count: 100 Warnings: Schmoopy romance, a hint of MPreg if you squint, nothing blatant. Title: Just A Drop Author: scarysnapeyWords: 100x2 Rating: PG Pairing: Severus/Hermione (implied) Challenge: snape100 Challenge #343 Heart A/N: I guess that you could think of it as anybody else, but I've always pictured Hermione as rather voluptuous. Just A Drop

( Remember: drabble posts now appear on livejournal and insanejournal and dreamwidth) Challenge #343: "Heart" This week's challenge is the last in a series of challenges based on the names of music groups/performers who have songs with "Magic" in the title. This week is "Magic Man" by Heart. Your drabble has to reference Heart in some way, but not necessarily the group itself. Any sort of "heart" is fine (including metaphorical uses and, um...the heart as a potions ingredient) as long as Snape is at the 'heart' of it.
Title: Pale Perfection Author: dexstarrWord Count: 100 x 3 Rating: PG-13 Challenge: snape100: Prompt #342: Temptations Characters: Severus, Narcissa Author's Note: Happy with this one. It’s a guilty indulgence of hers, and he loves to spy. He’s hidden behind a broad oak tree, his favorite spot. A haven when James and Sirius are after him. Her black school robes are spread on the ground, protecting her delicate skin and crisp uniform from grass stains. Only her white-blonde hair touches the lawn, gold strands mingling with green grass. It is her pale, pale skin that initially calls to him. He, too, is pale, and thus feels a slight companionship; but he is a jaundiced sort of pale, sallow-toned with midnight-black hair. But Narcissa, she is perfect. *** ( Two )*** ( Three )
Title: The Ultimate Temptation Author: alisannePairing: Severus Snape/Harry Potter Rating: PG Challenge: Written for snape100's prompt #342: Temptations Word Count: 100 x 4 Warnings: Channish thoughts, no actual chan. This third week is "Magic" by The Temptations. Your drabble has to reference the Temptations in some way, but not necessarily the group itself. Any sort of "temptation" is fine as long as your Snape is at the heart of it.

Title: Chaperone, IV Challenge: the Police Word Count: 100 Note: this takes place in 1981 or 1982. "Sir? This girl said you was her professor." The bobby stood crisply at attention, his hand discreetly locked on the Slytherin seventh form's arm. "Caught her trying to get backstage." Severus held up his hand before Smith-Brown-Jones could get involved. Why hadn't the man done a little research into Sting's effect on adolescent women before he'd bought those tickets? "Miss Pucey. Perhaps you would like to explain yourself?" The girl took a deep breath and wiggled her fingers at the bobby. Severus raised his hand before she could complete the spell. "The truth, Miss Pucey." Her face fell. "Yes, Professor." Thu, Jul. 8th, 2010, 11:48 pm

Thanks to veridian_dair for the once over! *smooches* A Kind of Magic

Title: Chaperone, III Challenge: the Police Word Count: 100 Note: this takes place in 1981 or 1982. "Professor?" The Slytherin likely thought she was whispering, although it came out as a yell over the boom from the amplifiers. "What's an arm alight?" Smith-Brown-Jones blinked. "I'm - I'm not sure I can - should - " "It's a type of rifle used by Muggles in warfare." "The song is about the Protestant/Catholic tensions in Ulster." The girl nodded and returned to ogling Sting's arse. Smith-Brown Jones muttered something about concentrating on the royal wedding. Severus thinned his lips. How could the man teach Muggle Studies without mentioning all the inventive ways Muggles slaughtered each other? Or current politics?

Title: Chaperone, II Challenge: the Police Word Count: 100 Note: this takes place in 1981 or 1982. "The Police are hardly new. They're also not precisely easy. I doubt our charming little dunderheads would comprehend half the lyrics." Smith-Brown-Jones looked frustrated. "It doesn't matter! All that does is that they - " "Someone comped you tickets. Am I right?" Smith-Brown-Jones teacher turned an alarming shade of grayish-white. "Is it my fault if my girlfriend went to school with Stewart Copeland?" "Stewart Copeland is a Wizard?" Severus stared at Smith-Brown-Jones. "And he hasn't blown out the electronics?" "You know Americans specialize in electronics charms," said Smith-Brown-Jones. "One would have thought Sting - " "His mother is a Squib."
