So, hey. I used to frequent Smartania back in the EZBoard days, I rarely posted but I spent many a late night reading and chuckling and all that.

Right, anyway, I was randomly looking through my bookmarks and found the old Church of X message boards, shed a solemn tear as I skimmed a bunch of threads, and eventually landed here. It's great to see the community still together-ish! I've only read the first page of posts but there's a distinct lack of Michael (I forget his handle) and Piggylover (Sara?) and Nerbie. And... Sushai! But maybe they're lurking.

Let me get right to the point here, I noticed a post where someone was asking about the old suckfic massacres, and there are a few of them hanging around on the old EZBoard site. The suckfic topic is here. If your username/password has been long since forgotten, and of course if the authors don't mind, just let me know and I can either post them here or email them to whoever.

That's all for now. Hope you guys are well, and late-congrats to everyone on the various baby happenings.

Mer

I know this has been around for quite a while, but this is the first time I've ever gotten around to posting here. I used to pop up on the forums every now and then as psychogurl, but I doubt anyone really remembers me. I was never really that terribly active and never really contributed anything to the site.

I miss all the things that used to be at Smartania.com, and my friends are a little annoyed with me always referencing things that I cannot find. Is there any way to see the old stuff that used to be there, like the suckfic massacres? I was recently talking with my friends and I made a reference to the Lucius/Draco fanfic that was hacked on your site, and I really wanted to show them how bizarre it was--but I also wanted them to be at least a little amused by it.

I can find the fanfic, but I cannot find the massacre of it no matter how hard I try.

Is there any way to find these things?

Has anyone else heard the recent rumor that Christian Bale is in talks to play Roland Deschain? I've also heard that development for The Gunslinger begins as soon as Lost ends.

Anyway what are you all's thoughts on Christian playing everyone's favorite gunslinger? I think he is a little too young and I don't think he has quite the right look. That being said that while I think there is someone out there who could better play Roland he isn't the worst pick to play Roland, just not the best. The guy who played the Tin Man in that horrible Sci Fi miniseries Tin Man has the right look to play Roland if you dyed his hair. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0568180/

Also any thoughts on who should play the other characters?

I always figured Gina Torres for Susannah because she can kick ass and take names even in a wheel chair. And Ryan Reynolds could maybe play Eddie. James Cromwell would be the perfect Father Callahan. Amanda Seyfried looks a lot like how I imagine Susan Delgado looking. Lately I've been mentally casting the dark tower movie on my ride to work. :) Anyway, thoughts anyone?

(And hey, we haven't done one of these in a while!) I'm in a sci-fi/fantasy mood, so anything along those lines would be awesome. I've been wanting to try some William Gibson but not sure where to start.

Big series I've read so that it's out of the way:
Kushiel's (in fact I just began re-reading these in the last few weeks)
The Dark Tower
Wheel of Time (yeah I know, I was young!)
Lots of OSC and Sara Douglass

Anthony has tried to get me reading that big Terry Brooks series (Shannara) but I found it pretty effing boring and Wheel of Time 2.0. He's also tried to get me on the Mistborn series (Brandon Sanderson) but it's not really catching me. I know there are other awesome series out there (or stand alones) and now that I'm actually in the midst of a BIG library system I want to hit it hard!

Thanks!
