AboutWelcome to Small Fandoms Fest, a multi-fandom Fest community where even the smallest fandom is welcome. Actually, the smaller, the better. *g*
The sixth round of Small Fandoms Fest is now open!

General Community:
1. We are open to television, movie, book, comic, anime, and video game fandoms.
2. Both Fanfic and Fanart submissions will be accepted.
3. Only challenge responses should be posted here. This is not a comm for questions or announcements or pimping your own communities. Any OT posts will be deleted. [For announcements please check out![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif)

4. You must be a member of the community to post, though not to comment.
5. No flames allowed! If you don’t like something, skip it.
Prompt Submission:
6. You will not be required to claim a prompt in order to submit a prompt.
7. There is no limit on the number of prompts you may submit, and you may claim your own prompt.
8. All ratings, pairings (gen, het, slash and femslash, threesomes, none, etc), and genres are welcome.
9. Crossovers between small fandoms are allowed.
10. RPF is generally not allowed; it will only be allowed if you can convince me that it qualifies as a small fandom, ie, it is based on a show/series/program, such as Top Gear or Ghost Hunter. If there’s nothing to place in the ‘fandom’ portion of the prompt besides RPF or CW RPF, then it probably doesn’t qualify. Example: “Make Me a Supermodel, Tyson/Perry, practice makes perfect” qualifies, but “J2, Jared/Jensen, between takes” doesn’t.

This makes it much easier for me to copy and paste the prompts into the master list. It was less of an issue during our earlier fests, but if the number of prompts we received last round is any indication, it will be very important this round.
11a. Fandom: If your fandom could either be A) a book or TV fandom, or B) a comic or a movie, for example, specify which one you’re submitting the prompt for, otherwise I will list it as either, and it will be up to the writer to choose.
Also, for Book fandoms, please include the author’s name (at least the first time prompts are submitted for it) so I can include that information on the list.
11b. Character or Pairing specifications (the & and the /):
Character A: fic should be character A-centric; whether gen, het or slash is up to the writer unless you specify gen only
Character A & Character B: & = friendship fic only
Character A/Character B: / = romantic pairing fic only
Character A & or / Character B: & or / = friendship or romantic pairing fic, up to the writer
Writer’s Choice: use if you don’t have a preference for the Character/Pairing or the word/phrase/scenario and want to leave it up to the writer (Please do not list writer’s choice for both the character/pairing AND the word/phrase/scenario bit, as that sort of defeats the purpose of writing to prompts.)
11c. If possible, please list your prompts alphabetically, first by fandom, then by character/pairing, and then by word/phrase/scenario. This will save me a tremendous amount of time adding the prompts to the list, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
11d. Do not use last names unless it is the convention in your fandom to do so. For example, please use Jack/Nathan rather than Jack Carter/Nathan Stark.
11e. Still confused? Here are some examples:
Blood Ties (TV’verse), Henry & Coreen, research (fic should focus on the friendship between Henry and Coreen)
Dante’s Cove, writer’s choice, regret (writer may choose any Dante’s Cove character/pairing for this prompt)

12. No anon prompting, please. I occasionally have to ask questions about the prompts submitted and you’re not going to get my comments to be able to reply to them if you post anon.
Prompt Claiming:
13. Each prompt may be claimed twice each for fanfic and fanart. Because of this limit, each individual may only claim a prompt once, for either fanfic or fanart, but not both.
14. You may claim as many prompts as you like over the course of the Fest, but you may only claim three prompts at a time. If you have already claimed three prompts, you must post a submission for one of them before claiming another prompt. [We realize that there are a lot of prompts, but we’d like to keep prompts from being snapped up . . . and then not getting written or graphic’d. *g*]
15. You may claim your own prompt.
16. You did not have to submit a prompt to claim a prompt.

21. You must follow the prompted character/pairing specifications: & = friendship only; / = romantic pairing; & or / = writer may chose friendship or romantic pairing; a character listed alone may be gen, het or slash.
Posting:
22. Your subject line should follow this format: Fanfic (or Fanart), Fandom, Pairing/Character (use full names rather than initials or nicknames), Word/Phrase/Scenario
Example: Fanfic, Eureka, Jack/Nathan, amnesia
a. If the original prompt was for a single character or writer’s choice, please include the character/pairing you wrote in the subject line (and in the character/pairing portion of the header) so that I may properly tag the entry (though you should still include the prompted character/writer’s choice in the prompt portion of your header).
Example, if the prompted character was ‘Letty’ and you chose to write ‘Letty & Leon’, then you should include Letty & Leon in the subject line (and in the character/pairing portion of the header). Similarly, if the prompted character/pairing was ‘writer’s choice’ and you wrote ‘Michael/Victor’, then include Michael/Victor in the subject line (and in the character/pairing portion of the header). (However, ‘Letty’ and ‘writer’s choice’ should still be included in the prompt portion of the header.)
b. If the word/phrase/scenario portion of the prompt is long, you may shorten/abbreviate it in the subject line.
Example: ‘everyone thinks they’re doing it so they decide, why not, and run off to Vegas to get married’ may be shortened to ‘everyone thinks they’re doing it’.
c. Do not include any additional information in the subject line, such as title and rating.

24. Post your submission or a link to it here at the community. If you post your Fanfic here, please put the story itself behind a cut. If you post your Fanart here, everything except two or three teaser icons or thumbnails must be placed behind a cut. Anything not-worksafe must be placed behind a cut. Get the idea? *g*
The only exception is that if your journal is locked you must post your fic here.
If you post/announce your submission elsewhere, we’d love it if you’d include a ‘Written forsmallfandomfest’ notation in your header. The more people who are aware of us, the more submissions we’ll get. *g*
25. There is no maximum length for your fic, but the fic must be complete and posted all at once. Two parters or chaptered fic is welcome, but the fic must be finished and posted in its entirety.
26. Regardless of the length of your story, if you choose to post it here in the community, please only post it in a single part; the LJ limit on post size is very large and should not be a problem for most stories. If your story exceeds that limit (approx 11,000 words, or 15-20 pages) and requires posting in several parts, please post the story in your own journal and merely link to it here in a single post.
If your journal is locked or if you don’t normally post fic at your personal journal, then you may post the fic here in multiple parts. However, please use as few posts as necessary (ie, don’t post 15 1000-word entries when you could post 2 7500-word entries). If you post in parts, please make sure that each part links to the next, as (due to our practice of using tags for counting purposes) only the first part of the story will be tagged and memoried.
27. Fic may be posted to the comm from Nov 23 through January 31, when the Fest officially closes.
28. Do not post your fic before you’ve claimed the prompt. While I fully appreciate wanting to get a head start on the fic and making sure you can finish it before you commit yourself to writing it, you must claim a prompt before posting your submission. I would also appreciate it if you'd give me a reasonable time to approve your claim before posting your fic, rather than claiming the prompt five minutes before you post.
29. Please note that if you submit three or more fanfic and/or fanart, in any combination, you will receive a lovely button acknowledging your contribution tosmallfandomfest!
Pimp Your Fandom:
30. Sign up to pimp your small fandom by replying here with your name and the name of the fandom.
31. Each fandom may only be claimed by one person per round.
32. You may claim more than one fandom, but only one at a time.
33. Wondering what to include in your pimp? Give us some background on the book/show/movie, tell us why we should give it a try, and let us know if it’s available, through official channels or via some kind soul in fandom. If you want to pimp your favorite character or pairing, go ahead and do that, too.
34. Please include the following in your subject line: Pimp: Name of Fandom by Your Name.
35. To make sure that these pimp posts remain available, please post it here in full, rather than linking to it. You may, of course, post it wherever you want to in addition to posting it here, as it need not be exclusive. If your entry is longer than a few short paragraphs, place everything except a short teaser paragraph behind a cut.
36. You must post your pimpage entry by January 31.
37. As of February 1, all fandoms (including unclaimed, claimed but never pimped, and previously pimped) will once again be open for claiming. Please note, if at that time you sign up for a fandom that’s already been pimped, don’t merely repeat what someone else has already said. Everyone loves a book/series/movie for different reasons, so give us your own unique spin on it: tell us why you like it, delve more deeply into the fandom, pimp another character/pairing....

Please note that the list of fandoms in our interests is not exclusive, it’s just that we’ve hit the maximum number of interests allowed by LJ, so we won’t be adding any more fandoms right now.
Also, since we are not experts on every small fandom we’re going to be pretty flexible on what’s considered a small fandom. There is no hard and fast rule for what we consider a small fandom; we follow the ‘we know it when we see it’ train of thought. If I have concerns about the size of the fandom, I will google it, looking mainly for an indication of the number of fic there are in the fandom. Generally, however, unless we know that it’s not small (don’t try to slip BtVS, NCIS, Numb3rs, SGA or SPN, for example, past us *g*), or unless someone disputes the inclusion of that fandom, we’ll take your word for it.

Please note that the list of fandoms in our interests is not exclusive, it’s just that we’ve hit the maximum number of interests allowed by LJ, so we won’t be adding any more fandoms right now.
Also, since we are not experts on every small fandom we’re going to be pretty flexible on what’s considered a small fandom. There is no hard and fast rule for what we consider a small fandom; we follow the ‘we know it when we see it’ train of thought. If I have concerns about the size of the fandom, I will google it, looking mainly for an indication of the number of fic there are in the fandom. Generally, however, unless we know that it’s not small (don’t try to slip BtVS, NCIS, Numb3rs, SGA or SPN, for example, past us *g*), or unless someone disputes the inclusion of that fandom, we’ll take your word for it.
