Yay! We've got a starter list of characters over in flb_rp, and we are opening up the floor for whichever characters YOU may want to play! :-D So please, take a look at the list (I'll put it in the momories) and then comment there to let me know who you want to take on. First come, first serve! :-) I hope this works out okay!
Again, please don't feel like this is going to be a huge commitment. Yes, we like regular posting, but I also totally get that it's summer and some are out of school, some are on vacation, etc...(heck, *I'm* going away on Friday for a few days, and may not get a Vixanne or Violet post in until I get back!) And even if you try it for a bit, realize it's just not for you, we understand, I promise. Just try it. You might love it!
Anyhow, all you wonderful writers are welcome, and I would love to see what you would do if you were set loose in FLB's world.
Peace and bright blessings!

1:19 pm - The Role-play! Can we bring it back?!
|

Hey my dears,
I have been MIA a lot in the past few months, but I wanted to talk to y'all about a little community called flb_rp. Some of you might have heard about it! :-)
Basically, check out the info; it's a place where we can be our favorite characters from various FLB stories and novels, and interact with each other in that world. It flexes a creative muscle, and gives us the ability to flesh out some of the characters we kind of wish we knew more about!
I, along with brokenmechanism (formerly peachtikitea), am a moderator over there (and quite inexperienced at it, so I am still learning!), and I also play Vixanne Wigg. I am thinking of taking on Violet Samms soon as well; and there are only a couple other people ready and willing to write as of now...as far as I know, anyway. So I am coming to some of my favorite FLB communities to beseech you; join us! I have seen some beautiful writing here, truly magical stuff, and I know some of you would be absolutely amazing as Echo, as Cherokee, as Pixie or Pony or Tuck Budd! And some of you, well, I know some of you have played these characters in the RP already...if you are around, please, come back!
If you are nervous about taking on a role like this, please feel free to pop over there, read the rules, read some of the past entries to get a feel for it all, and then let us know who you want to play! :-D
Okay, I think I have said my peace. ;-) If you have any more questions, please direct them to myself, or to my co-mod. Thanks, and I hope to see you over there!

Hello, lovies. I'm new to this community, and the biggest FLB fan you'll meet, ever. I didn't want to flood your page with all the things I have FLB-related so we'll space them out, yes? I make icons, bracelets, shirts, take themed pictures, etc. Yes, obsessed. Almost half my LJ friends list is made up of FLB fans I met through LJ communities so if you girls (or guys) would like to be friends, I'd love it. <333
( flb icons )
Cross-posted, because I just joined a bunch of FLB communities. I thought I was in all of them, but I guess not! <333
You can comment + credit this journal, if you're taking any. Thank you, much appreciated. <3

For Jess. My Cherokee Bat.
I'm sorry I misplaced you.
We used to feed off of each other. I gave you depth and a mix tape of Ani DiFranco and Loreena McKennitt, you gave me clothes that fit. Violet and CLaire. Suns and Moons and stupid movies and writing scripts for horror movies. Annoying each other and staring at each other and standing off to the side while you kept dating beautiful boys. They liked you. I was your taller lesser older friend with the nose. You were stick blonde hair and a cleft pallate that made your face forever babydollish.
We were driving on summer nights, windows rolled down and your car ever so blue and shocking. I avoided being there with you, resenting being the taller uglier older friend. But when I caved we always had more fun than I thought I was able to have. It took your poking and prodding. But you brought out the part of me I buried when I was thirteen and hurt by girls just like you. Sister-cousin. Crazyface. Putting up with my scathing remarks on the tiny clothes you tried to buy. We both knew each others' heart. I knew you were good. I knew you were smart. I knew you were insecure.
You were the last one to leave me here. One last ride from camping in the woods, me wearing your short shorts and hoop earrings with the charms, you putting in the mix cd I made before I died. It was evening in the parking lot in Manchester, laughing over sodas with some beautiful shaggy boys with backpacks, we were the pretty girls with freckles and swimsuit tan lines...your bikini, my ever-so-modest one-piece. Arms over shoulders. We drove back to fireflies and one last protesting on my part of your music tastes. You left in the foggy camping pancakes morning.
Make friends there. But don't replace me. Because in my life someday there will be bookish boys and cafes and boots clicking through the mall. But there will never be another Jess.

Antigone's messy notes.
Her name was Antigone Siren Swan, a hippie name to the almost rediculous. Her older sister had been named Luna Moonshine Swan, and every limb, every long strand of silvery hair, every finger that grabbed Samantha's flannel, pulling her away from the train, embodied that name. But Luna was long gone, and all that remained of what was once a sun flowery, Grateful Dead household was Antigone.
She was an almost depressing thing to watch, in Samantha's eyes. Eight years younger than her sister, she'd grown up avoiding the distant memory of a happy household. She was stiff, bleached hair and an orange tan, not a secret left to her little girl body and not a wise thought in her head to make it all worth it. The Siren didn't leave the men grasping at the rocks. Her song was desperate and they would stay for their fill until another song came blasting over the stereo in some other girls' car. Swans would have choked and died in her chlorine haze pool with cracking tiles.
Antigone would have rolled over in her grave if she'd seen her namesake. But her dead older sisters' best friend still took the wayward ruined Alice of a namesake out to breakfast every second saturday of the month. Today, they would talk about The Book Collector.

The background note on a character who...is not terribly FLB in my novel, but she'll be trying. Aye, there's the rub.
She used to run through the grass in the morning to escape him. He was all over that house, in every brick in the fireplace, and so she ran. She would stand on the railroad tracks, up the hill and past the treeline, and dare the wheels to run her over. In her faded, white flannel nightgown she would wait, shivering in the wet morning dew and calm, eyes and hair wild and watching. Sometimes she envied those girls who could just jump, run or slice. But she was too connected. She was too close to the earth, jumping and rolling away from the train, rolling in the wet grass. Soaked, dewy, grassy bare feet. That wasn't her. She would grow up and become a quiet, contained thing, writing and working and meeting the god on the shelf. But as the shivering 12 year old in flannel, she had wanted her body splattered all over that rusted steel, to be cleaned off in the rain.
