excerpt: He tells her he knows how it feels to wish you were something different, to wish you could overcome the thing that holds you back. But he didn't choose his fate, it was brought upon him. He says he doesn't care, the metaphor still applies. Like us, he says when she starts to pull her clothes on. They were both hungry for something they couldn't satisfy.
