[21 Jun 2009|06:23pm] |
x-posting to pimoisawesome We have NEW FORUMS set up now. You'll have to go create a new account and all the old posts from the last phpbb are just plain gone (sorry, folks.) http://www.comichammer.com/forum/index.php
You'll see the forum is now setup and has boards for several different comics. If you want to skip that and just bookmark the Six Pack forum, it's here. The Pimo is Awesome forum is here. And yes, I'll be direct-linking to those pages on the website once we are back up and running, so no, you won't have to look down a list to find the forum for my comics if you don't want to.
Everything else is still down right now. We'll get to it. => Thanks for your continued patience, folks.

Hey guys! Yes, the site is down. Don't panic, I'm not killing the comic or anything. Just some downtime on the hosting end. You aren't missing any updates, anyway, because I am severely busy dealing with finishing my last college course and getting everything ready for Anthrocon. Right now I can guarantee having Six Pack chapter 3 available; I am possibly going to have the first chapter of Pimo Is Awesome (yes, that means pages that aren't uploaded to the site would be in the print comic) and maybe chapter 4 of Six Pack as well, but right now I'm only counting on getting ONE comic finished and ready to go by then. It's coming up fast and I'm swamped, so we'll just have to see.
So yeah, TL;DR is I know it's down. Don't fret. We're still on hiatus right now anyway so you aren't missing a darn thing. It'll be up again at some point.

I haven't really been feeling the comic lately, so I've been really slack on working on the updates. I think I've mentioned before that my policy is "If you're not into it, don't force it" - I don't want it to become something I loathe, a chore, where it's not fun anymore. I'm really high stress right now and that's part of it, but there are other factors too.
Occasionally I go back and re-read my original story to get excited about things again. The process of developing this story went like this: I wrote a story for National Novel Writer's Month, and later adapted it to a script, which is what I worked off to draw up the pages. Well, in re-reading my original story, I found something(s) that I changed for the script. I know WHY I changed it at the time, but looking back on it now, I'm not happy with the change. And when I was inking and lettering that part of the story, I kept thinking "This isn't right... I'm pretty sure this isn't how I had it... Really? Is that really right?" But that was what my script said, so I went ahead and put it in. But I should have listened to my instincts, because honestly, I had it right the first time - the way it was in my original story.
So after some thinking, and a lot of mucking around staring at the next several pages without feeling any joy in working on them, I decided to go back and re-work my script a little and have to re-draw several pages. The changes I plan to make DO affect pages that are already uploaded, so I'll have to work backwards on a few things. It's not a major change to what's already up, but it is a change I want to make before I think I'm going to feel better about moving forward.
Therefore we're on a bit of a hiatus - changed old pages will be posted here, and when I'm ready to move ahead I'll make another note here. I don't know how long it will be.
I'm still having fun with Pimo Is Awesome, but I feel guilty about working on it when I haven't updated Six Pack... so I'm going to actually give myself permission to work on that and NOT Six Pack during this little hiatus. I'll try for updates on Wednesdays. The good news is that in a few months I'll be pretty much done with school, and uh, well, who knows what will happen then!

Okay, I am now: a) seemingly over my bronchitis (if I wake up tomorrow sick as a dog like the LAST time I thought I was over this, I may kill somebody) and b) dug out of the homework pile that two weeks of being incredibly ill created
Therefore there WILL be updates again this week.
You will also find that Pimo Is Awesome is now running properly and will be updated twice this week (or more) as I cram a backlog of pages down your throats to move things along faster.
That is all! Thanks for the patience. I think you'll enjoy the things to come, so hopefully it's worth it.

Changed dialogue - spelled it out even more blatantly here. X3
That ends the re-drawn Chapter 2 for us. One more ugly chapter off the page! Chapter 3 really isn't too bad, since by that point I started to re-draw the pages into Photoshop anyway, so it already (techncially speaking) got updated art. We might see a re-drawn Chapter 3 around Spring semester finals; I'm planning on having at LEAST that chapter printed at AC 2009! I'm taking next week off of updates for the holiday(s) and to re-group a few things, then we'll go back to bi-weekly after the New Year!
Oh yeah - and you might find something slightly interesting if you go over here: http://www.pimoisawesome.com/
Ignore the update schedule on there for now; the comic engine isn't installed and I can't post the second page until it is; that's not my doing so I have no control over it. But I figured I could at least post the first page. Also, I might go bi-weekly over there too - I'm not sure yet of what I want to do with everything. I'm still pondering some things... hopefully will get it all figured out in the next week or so.

So I was planning on launching the re-done pages of Chapter 2 around finals time and GUESS WHAT IT'S FINALS TIME YAY. I should have taken a break before starting this chapter, but I wasn't really planning that far ahead... I also figured I would have more time to finish this chapter up, but I started getting swamped with everything else and that kinda put a wrench in the plans. So I'm gonna go ahead and stop this chapter now (lawl a few weeks ago) and release a new re-done Chapter 2 page every day from now until Christmas. Hopefully by then I will be out of this slump.
Also, Pimo Is Awesome is launching at the end of this month. I dunno, let's say around the 22nd or something.
Let's see how insane I can become, doing two comics at once.

I have a crazy week coming up between school and work. I intended to update twice this week, just not on the regular days, but looking at everything I need to do tonight I'm not positive I'll be able to. Next week I have even more stuff going on, and the week after that is MFF, and then there's a holiday coming up right after that... WHEEEEEE!
I will update as often as I can but this is not a fun month. Please bear with me, folks. =>

Yes, Marco does own a real pair of eyeglasses.
Does anybody else find it hilarious that Polo is a very smart guy in possession of some great advice... but when it comes to himself and his own situations, he NEVER USES IT? I sure find it hilarious.

If you think this page looks a little different - it does!! I'm trying to get everything installed and set up again, and for some curious reason, Adobe Illustrator is not wanting to work right. So I had to do all the boxes and lettering in Photoshop, which is kinda awkward. Forgive the wonky page for now - once I figure out how to fix AI I will also fix this page!!

working on fixing the desktop right now! it has some weird flub on the harddrive. I will update tomorrow night instead if everything is okay with it!
I was just saying a few days ago how much I wished I could put photoshop and everything on my laptop =P I JINXED IT
EDIT: JINXED IT again, apparently. It's dead, guys! Dead. It's covered under warranty and most of my data is backed up. I determined it was dying, got out a CD to burn off my most recent data, and then it was too late - already dead.
So, okay. No updates tomorrow. Not sure when I'll be able to update. I'm hoping the guys at the computer shop can hook me up without having to wait for another drive to be shipped to me as a replacement and I can get back up and running, but otherwise... it might be a while. I will keep you all updated. Bit of a bummer! Ah well.

Okay guys! We look to be all clear now. Back to regular updates. => Got a few things I'm going to announce here...
First thing... those of you who stopped by my Artist's Alley table at Anthrocon and picked up a business card may have already made a note of this. Nobody asked me what it meant, except a few friends of mine who already knew what was in the works. Those of you who didn't make AC or didn't pick up a card, here is what it looked like - the top was the front, the bottom is the back. You'll note the image in the bottom right there, where it says "coming soon - Pimo Is Awesome." Soon is (tentatively) around Christmas time.
What you need to know: this DOES NOT have an impact on Six Pack of Otters. I've said many times... Six Pack of Otters is drawn, 100%, it's finished. ( Some blather about the comic process behind here - cut for length and boring-ness! Skip if you want! The important news is SIX PACK WILL NOT END OR GO DOWN IN UPDATES. )
Also, if you guys are looking at this thinking it will be another Six Pack, it won't. None of the other comics I have stirring around are the same as Six Pack (and let me say "THANK GOD" for that). I think many of my readers will still enjoy it, though... if not, never fear. => You don't have to read it. This is also a MUCH shorter story (and again I say "THANK GOD") and though the cast is larger than Six Pack's, we really only have one character to follow as opposed to the six here. Give it a shot when it launches. You might enjoy it. You might think it's full of a bright pink papillon and not care for it. Either way, it's a-okay.
Second announcement: I've launched a CafePress store with some merch in it. The t-shirts are of the most interest, but I also recommend the Tua Face Bag. (If you buy a Tua Face tee, pay close attention, as some have the design on the front and others have the design on the back!) I can't screenprint anymore anyways, so this is a chance to pick up a neat shirt - and I have to say, the apron is kinda snazzy too. I haven't forgotten about re-launching a store for things like prints or making a streamlined way to process commissions, I just haven't found anything that works/I like yet.
Third: I do have issues of Chapter 2 printed, left over from Anthrocon. If you want to buy without waiting for the store to open, drop me an e-mail: sixpackpolo at gmail dot com. They are $4 shipped normal mail (if you want priority shipping, it's $7.80.) Like Chapter 1, it's totally re-done. Those of you who bought a copy know what it looks like; those of you who don't have a copy, no worries. I will, at some point (maybe during Fall finals) be replacing the old Chapter 2 images on the site with the new ones, just like I did with Chapter 1. You'll get to see it one way or another. =>
Umm.... I think that's it. Okay! Back to our regularly scheduled comic tonight!

Check what I posted a few days ago - there may not be two updates this coming week either. Let's just say I'm on (what I hope is) a short hiatus. I'll post again when we will return to normal. I may be able to update once or twice at some point in the coming week but I am not guaranteeing anything. As always, if you find it a hassle to check the website every couple of days for an update, you can always just subscribe to the RSS feed.
Everything is (relatively) okay, just the comic is one of the last things on my mind right now. Carry on. =>

Yesterday I thought to myself, "Oh, I should upload that new comic page." Then I thought "Wait a minute - no, that's TOMORROW."
Today I woke up and thought "Wait a second... No, it WAS yesterday... whaaaaaugh!"
Anyway, here's the page, just a day late because of my own stupidity. I'm blonde underneath all the red.
New forums are up, too! http://www.sixpackofotters.com/forum/
I'll take this as a chance to note, as I have in previous years - I do live in the Midwest, and severe weather in the spring and summer is pretty common. If there's no update in the next few months, you can assume... a) the weather is really bad and my computer is shut off OR b) the weather is really bad and I have no power OR c) I'm taking a summer course and I'm going crazy with homework and am not updating to save my sanity!
