| About: | SINGAFEMMES represents a collective interest in young women's social, cultural, political and artistic issues in Singapore. While it was set up initially as a feminist initiative, the community also comprise members who have very little knowledge and experience in feminism, activism and social politics per se. SINGAFEMMES hopes to educate of such topics, amongst many other general affairs, and provide a space for young Singaporean women to create, reflect and discuss their ideas/ ideals/ ideologies in a constructive fashion. Members may post updates or links on activities concerning pretty much anything in Singapore, although it is advisable that these be perceptably relevant to young women. Members of SINGAFEMMES have also recently come to work together on THE PAPER! PLASTIK! POP! SESSIONS in April 2005, and consequently inspired the formation of remarkable organisations such as the STICK AND RUN COLLECTIVE (see older archived entries). Creative and academic work ARE ESPECIALLY ENCOURAGED in this community, but please post essay-long entries or heavy images under an lj-cut. Rock on!
